The steaks that were brought to me were poor quality, not only was the steak not cooked properly but every item given to my table was uncooked or unseasoned. If I had to rate only the food, this place may be a 5 star for me! The lack of detail in the service lowered it slightly. We started off with the wine tasting at the winery (which they are awesome at explaining their wines) and then we made our way into the grill seating area once our reservation was ready (reservation recommended) We started with one of the chef's specials for an appetizer. Adam's Chicken 65 ("Indian street food of quick-fried chicken tossed in a yogurt chili sauce with cilatro slaw"). If I could have eaten this for my main meal I would have! It was fantastic. The flavors were very bold (but not spicy) and three of us fought over the last bite. For lunch It was recommended to me to get a sandwich with fries ("calorie worthy fries") and they were! I ordered a lunch special. A grilled chicken sandwich with pepper jack cheese and a spicy aioli spread and a sweet marinated slaw on grilled brioche bread. Again the flavors really melded together! The fries were very flavorful too cooked just crisp enough without being crunchy and they had a light dusting of seasoning and parmesan cheese. Lucky for my waistline my friends kept stealing them! I boxed up half of my sandwich and went for dessert. The Norton Brownie! ("rich fudge brownie with cocoa-whipped cream decedent chocolate ganache and Norton wine reduction") Served with ice cream on the side. Pretty rich but I manage to eat most of it! The area where you eat at the grill inside on cold days (they have a nice fireplace) is nice but I would like to eat outside again someday when spring summer has officially arrived. They have a nice covered area for grill patrons. The service was nice but just felt it could have been upscaled slightly with better attention at the table and quicker refills and a few more check ins. My husband and I got married at Chaumette, and have been back a couple times since to celebrate our anniversary. Recently we drove down for an afternoon, enjoyed the scenery and had lunch. We made a reservation, which I highly suggest, because I have been here before on a fall day when it's been completely booked. We arrived at about 12:10 for our 12:30 reservation. Despite only having 1 party seated in the dining room, the hostess wouldn't seat us. Ummm.... ok. So we walked around outside and reminisced about our wedding on a similarly beautiful fall day. We went back in with 5 minutes left for our reservation and were seated (by a different hostess). Phew.. I may have walked out if they hadn't. Let me note that they were doing a cheese tasting this day, as well as a wine tasting. A LOT of people were standing around doing those two things. It costs $5 to do a tasting but it's worth it. This is a nice place and has pretty decent wines, for Missouri. Unfortunately the ambiance was soured by the extremely loud atmosphere since there were a few bus loads of people here. Luckily, we were in the corner and tried to drown it out. Next time a dinner would be better for romance. We ordered, and our food was very well timed. Everything we had was delicious. The chef here is awesome (our wedding guests still rave that we had the best wedding food they've ever had). Lots of local, fresh ingredients. They listed many farms in the area they work with. The menu changes seasonally. The standout was the autumn salad. The nutty "caramel vinaigrette" was perfectly complimented by the sweet and tart apples and savory cheddar cheese fritters. It was delicious! I wish I had room for dessert, but I didn't. We will be back and do highly recommend for a meal. Just be aware that it can be crowded and loud during a nice day! read more

Had a reservation.. got there .. was informed in route that there hot tops and grill went out ... cold food only .. What a waste of my morning . 30 plus minute drive.. other than the young staff .. no manager in view or immediately on hand .. I do understand things happen .. but a cell phone message .. with spotty reception ... I've worked in the industry... there is no reason to have waited 30 minutes before our reservation 12:15 to call ... We had a fantastic meal at The Grapevine Grill at Chaumette Winery. We started with a crab stuffed Portabello Mushroom that was delicious followed by one of the best Heirloom Tomato Salads I have ever had. The Entree was a Filet that was cooked to perfection. Service was fast and courteous and the entire wait staff was attentive to our needs. I highly recommend you try this place soon. read more

We had dinner last night at GG and it was so good. New Orleans BBQ shrimp were meaty and covered in the best cajun/creole sauce. The bourbon street steak was absolutely phenomenal. Just a great experience and I can't wait to come back to Chaumette with my wife and eat here again. read more

Talk about a perfect evening! We started with some wine on the patio at Chaumette and then moved to our table overlooking the sunset, fall foliage, and rolling hills. Our server was prompt, knowledgeable, but not overly present. The patio is a good mix of romance and social atmosphere that accommodates a little of everything. We started with a goat cheese plate which was delicious, granted I love all things goat cheese. Moved onto a little salad and then drum roll please: Wine-Barrel Smoke Duck (Grilled Duck Breast with smoked Duck leg Confit, Sweet Potatoes and Pear Anna Gastrique) it was easily in my top 10 duck dishes to date. My boyfriend's lamb was cooked to perfection and served with with caramelized shallot and Cheddar Barley "Risotto" and quick stewed Swiss Chard. The risotto was a bit strong than the lamb so it overpowered it a touch, but alone was delightful. I ended my meal with a soft pear bread pudding that hit the spot. Quite simply, they don't know how to take care of guests. We arrived for brunch and were promptly seated. The dining room was attractively laid out and had a nice view of the vineyard. After that, it was all downhill as an experience. While the brunch menu featured some good items that were executed well such as the potatoes, home made breads, gravy, and local sausage, the fried chicken was a bit over done and the soggy crust indicated it sat near a steaming surface or chafing dish too long. What was not forgiveable was the service. Never did anyone wait on us. A server was happily talking about the show Dexter to a table next to is, and the other swirled around waiting on multiple tables. I finally gave up and retrieved a water pitcher and poured our own drinks. I approached our host and asked to pay the bill since no one waited on us. He apologized and said he would be right back. At this moment I thought he would come back with the manager who might comp us a wine tasting or perhaps a dessert. Instead a woman who I guess was supposed to be our server came up and checked us out. She said she was sorry and offered to comp our drinks. My wife replied that would have been nice had someone actually waited on us to serve us drinks. They said they were sorry again and charged us full price for the brunch. The waitress said, "I am so sorry that you had this experience, and I hope you come back and see us at our best." I bit my tongue and refrained from saying, "Honestly, you are giving me no reason to." read more

Today I am going to write my review on the food and atmosphere. Because the service was completely missing the mark. Otherwise I would score this restaurant a 2. We had reservations for 5pm this past Saturday. Seated at a table in the corner - when the restaurant was empty. Would have preferred a window table but (they were all available) but no big deal. Quality is always in the details though. Appetizer - they were already out of the homemade chips at 5:06. Selling them all during lunch. Not cool. We did get the fries. They were good. Very good. Crisp, crunchy, salty and garlicky. Soup - Shrimp and Bacon Corn Chowder. This was a fail. It was not a chowder - the broth was very loose and it had an unpleasant consistency. Bread Service - excellent. Creamy salty and sweet butter - lovely soft, crusty bread. Entrees I had the Sirloin Special with Broccoli and Au Gratin Potatoes served with a pan gravy. This was out of this world. I would go back here just for this plate of food. My husband had the Elk Stew - it was amazing. Rich, deep in flavor. Outstanding. So i took off one star for the chowder (it was not good and not chowder). On the food - 4 stars. The service was not good. We waited about 10 minutes before I asked another server for our server. She came over and was very rushed, nervous and seemed overwhelmed. When going over the specials it was clear to myself and my husband that she had little to no knowledge of the foods she was talking about. She was very pleasant and sweet. But her lack of knowledge on the special, the dinner menu and the wine menu means that her manager or management did not prepare or test her prior to her becoming a server. Or they did. And she forgot. The quality of food that is being served should reflect high quality service. This was not the case. Also, the back servers & other servers all seemed rushed and took away from the ambiance. They were always physically rushing and seemed disorganized. A few seemed exhausted. This place should be a 5 start. Without a doubt in my mind. But the service needs to improve greatly. I would go back there for the meal and just hope for better service read more

Excellent overall experience. Adam is the executive chef and he prepped a terrific menu. The food was very good and gluten-free friendly. We ordered the Baetje Farms goat cheese and asparagus salad - very tasty and the goat cheese was creamy and delicious. For our entrees we ordered the chicken curry dish. As an Indian person, I found it to be incredibly tasty and authentic. I got a 2/5 hotness level and my wife got a 4/5 hot level. We were pleased with the overall product. For dessert I got the beignets and my wife got the gluten free cherry crisp. We were happy with our selections and very full by the end of the night. Hank the owner stopped by several time during wine tastings and the meal to make sure everything was OK. Overall, a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back. read more

While the view is breathtaking, the food does not live up to that standard. They did accommodate our requests for a vegetarian meal, and we received plates of vegetables. They were quite tasty (though my husband did not like the Cajun spice on his) but such small portions and overpriced at $23. The hummus was a little salty. Grapevine Grill is fabulous! The atmosphere is perfect -- relaxing, beautiful, and inviting. The food is unbelievably good! My spouse and I stayed two nights in the Villas at Chaumette (another 5-star recommendation) and ending up eating at the grill both nights - it is soooo good! Chef Adam is so wonderful. He gets all of the food from local farmers (within 40miles), makes his own vinegar, and offers a huge variety of outstanding meals. The first night I had the steak (easily one of the best steaks I have ever had) and the second night we had their Indian food at "Lambay's". I grew up eating Indian food from my 'second mother' who spoke no English and this took me right back home -- it was delicious. I can not wait to get back to this restaurant, to the wine, and to the outstanding staff. I can not say enough good things about this place! Go. Now! read more

The food was less than mediocre. My fish sandwich was spoiled and the burger was ok. The service was terrible. The server was slow and never to be found. We had to get up to get a couple times to get any service and the bill and he never came. We waited for a very long time to pay and leave. It is not cheap and we were very disappointed. read more

My husband and I had dinner at The Grapevine Grill on 09-23-17. I had heard great things from friends. My husband had read where they had received an award for their restaurant. We were anxious to try it. The entire experience was a disappointment. We called as we were almost to the restaurant to check on the wait time. The hostess said they were very busy and we would to wait an hour. When we arrived, the restaurant was only one-fourth full. So she lied. We asked about this and suddenly we were seated. We each ordered a glass of wine and received one half of a glass. We ordered an appetizer--flatbread chorizo--which was delicious. My husband ordered lamb shank with me ordering chicken breasts with vegs. My husbands dish was delicious. I honestly had the smallest chicken breast I have ever been served. The food is not inexpensive to say the least. So I guess if you want to have dinner and barely feel like you have eaten, then is the place you want to go. Needless to say, we will not be back.
