While I am not qualified to comment on the quality of her work during surgery (and I was anesthetized while that was being done anyway) her reputation as a surgeon is tremendous. I will try to remember to revise this review when I get six months out from surgery but, so far, (knock wood) I could not be happier. I know some people have expressed difficulties with her staff. Like any Doctor who is considered to be at the top of their field, you are going to wait a while. Otherwise, I found the pre surgery process to be reasonably organized and far from onerous. I will try to remember to come back in six months an add to this review but, so far, I am very thankful that Doctor Laroque sas my surgeon.

He was highly recommended to me by my acupuncturist who has seen him several times for therapies to heal long standing back and neck injuries. Dr. Wardell has an extremely impressive and well rounded background and education which enables him to understand underlying issues and causes in a way that most doctors do not. I have recommended him to so many people who have chronic illnesses and pain/injuries who are unable to get relief by traditional methods (cortisone injections, PT, surgery). Not only does he have a deep understanding of any medical issues I've asked him about, his approach is always focused on getting to the true cause and healing them vs a band-aid approach used by so many doctors. His treatments / approach are all quite reasonably priced and has helped people avoid major surgeries that would be much more costly and not actually fixing the underlying problem or condition. I feel that Dr. Wardwell has a strong sense of integrity and ethics and treats his patients with genuine respect, never pushing profit over the best interest is his patients. I have been trying to recover from a severe case of Bells Palsy 7 years ago which I was told by some of the top doctors in the field that I would never be able to heal from it, and the only options were Botox and invasive surgery in my face. I'm so thankful that I have found PRP (plasma rich protein injections, same used in "vampire facials") therapy with Dr. Wardwell which has already healed and improved my symptoms in 3-4 months post PRP therapy. My other doctor who has been treating me, who is the head of plastic surgery at Stanford, was amazed as the most recent progress and never heard of PRP being used to to treat Bells Palsy, which is quite sad. I'm getting the word out. If you are looking for a doctor who will truly get to the bottom of your condition and treat you with the utmost care and respect, I highly recommend Dr. Wardwell. One renowned surgeon who reviewed the case stated: "The x-rays show no reason to do a distal clavicle excision and what he did was scallop your bone. I would never do this to a patient." When I confronted Akizuki about the damage and injury, he denied any responsibility and claimed that my body must have somehow spontaneously eroded the bone on its own, an explanation that is medically implausible. This outcome was never discussed or consented to. It reflects a profound lack of surgical judgment and care. I continue to suffer pain and shoulder dysfunction as a direct result. This was only one of a number of unnecessary procedures that he messed up. Since my procedure, I've learned that I am not alone. There are multiple ongoing lawsuits and medical board complaints alleging fraudulent and negligent behavior by Akizuki. I was in constant pain, walked with a limp, and was always swollen. In June 2026 Dr. Callander performed a revision. He exchanged the plastic liner with one 2 sizes smaller, removed part of the meniscus that was not removed during the knee replacement, and removed scar tissue. Within a few days I was amazed at how great I felt! I'm now six weeks post-op with no pain, bend to 120 degrees, fully straight, and no swelling. I can't say enough good things about him and his staff.

My first injury was a stubborn and very painful foot problem (posterior tibial tendinopathy) that left me hobbling around for a year and a half. I started physical therapy basically out of desperation, but after about 4 months with G Sports, I was completely recovered, was able to return to my prior level of physical activity and exercise, and have not had an issue with foot since. My PT for this injury was Dr. Justin Jellin, who was outstanding. More recently, I came back for a hip problem that didn't improve at all after 6 months of trying to manage it on my own. The injury was bad enough that I had significant trouble driving and doing basic household chores. I have young kids, so I do a fair amount of driving and picking-stuff-up, so it's hard for me to overstate how irritating this injury was. I started working with Dr. Gee in May 2026, who has also been outstanding, and have made a significant recovery so far. In addition to creating a great rehab routine, Dr. Gee has been using shockwave therapy to help with my recovery. It's hard for me to know how much of my current recovery is due to the exercises I've been instructed to do vs the shockwave treatment, since I'm doing both concurrently, but I did notice a huge improvement in my symptoms immediately after the first shockwave treatment. After 3 months, I've gone from significant and constant pain to more like on-and-off local irritation (I'm often pain free for several days in a row). I'm back to driving and my normal daily activities without problems. I'm still making noticeable progress every week and hope to get back to my prior exercise routine in the next few months. The office/front desk team has also been great. They're incredibly friendly and have been extremely helpful when I've had to make changes to my rehab schedule. Overall, I highly recommend GSports for physical therapy. At this point, if I have another injury in the future, I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else.

Adult membership is $91 and Senior is $81 so not much of a discount even though his is paid for by Kaiser. They have free resistance band workout every other Wednesday at the Union Square plaza at 8am. It's a free class and the instructor is nice.

I highly recommend Nick Duenas as an expert physical therapist. I have worked with him for 6 months to rehabilitate from knee surgery and the fallout of having to reeducate my quads and calfs and hamstrings to do more of the support work that my knee is no longer capable of doing. Nick brings his training, experience, and compassion to working with clients to reduce pain, re-establish competencies, and get patients to a place of healing. With a compassionate heart, he plans out programs and exercises for patient improvement, carefully listening to the words and movements of patients. With healing hands, he is able to guide patients to embrace motions and exercises to rebuild skills and get past limits and pains. With strong knowledge of anatomy and the human body, he is capable of diagnosing barriers to healing, and devise a first path for healing and other paths if the first way doesn't work for that individual patients. Finally, Nick is a good listener and hears what patients offer about their own experience on the pathway to healing. He listens to the said and the unsaid. This knowledge informs his holistic understanding of each patient. read more

I started working with Kevin on October 25th, 2021. I was referred to Kevin from my son who was also doing physical therapy with Kevin. I was working with Kevin to help me recover from a partial knee replacement surgery. He asked me what my goals for physical therapy were. I told him I wanted to return to playing softball pain free. With a recovery path set in stone, Kevin laid out my plan for recovery. He carefully explained what he was working on and was always checking in on my pain threshold during the procedures or movements. Exercises were carefully explained and he was always watching to make sure that I was using correct form. He was very patient and always asked if I have any questions. He was also very pleasant to talk with. That being said, I had to do the homework that Kevin prescribed to me. Just going to therapy once or twice a week without doing the homework would have prolonged my recovery. I am now close to pain free and will start playing softball soon. I can't thank Kevin enough for what he has done for me. Give him a shot and you will see for yourself. read more

My Physical Therapy experience with Dr. Kevin Fong is successful and enjoyable. I had 2 issues when I contacted Kevin--a very painful hip that came on suddenly and a chronically sore neck for 20+ years. Both conditions are likely aggravated by sitting in front of 2 monitors at work every day. My appointments with Kevin have all been virtual, which is a tremendous advantage since I live 60 miles away and would not have been willing to drive 90 minutes each way for in-person appointments. Kevin's approach to assessment is thorough and effective, asking lots of questions, using terminology I can understand, then coming up with specific exercises that addressed his findings. This is especially important for me, as we need to ensure that exercises dealing with my hip pain did not make my neck pain worse. As he predicted, the hip pain resolved quickly. The neck pain will take longer since I have endured it for so many years. Now, Kevin is helping me improve my desk ergonomics and posture, working towards preventing recurrence. I have had problems with my forearms for close to 10 years (chronic pain that had always been attributed to local tendonitis). During COVID-19, the pain had become worse to the point that I was no longer able to lift objects around the home. Even though I had seen multiple physical therapists/sports physicians for the issue previously, I had never been able to get significant relief. It was at this time I reached out to Kevin. After taking the time to fully assess my complaint, Kevin was able to identify that a key component to my pain was nerve impingement originating from my shoulder due to tight pec minor. Through soft tissue work and corrective form exercises, I am now able to get back to working out in the gym with very little discomfort. I was so impressed by the way Kevin approached my situation that we are now working on correcting chronic discomfort due to weak hip stabilizers. TL;DR - Kevin is the best around and you should look no further if you'd like to save yourself some time and energy. I had a hip labral repair over a year ago and was still in a fair amount of pain/not able to run after working with a few physical therapists. I've made a ton of progress with Kevin in just a couple months and feel strongly that a 30 minute session with a traditional PT is not enough time for a serious athlete such as myself. Kevin is super patient and thoughtful: asks what I've done each week to understand what is and isn't working, explains where my weaknesses are and how they can be improved, alleviates all anxieties that I'll never run again. Great for type A people: work out with him so you'll know exactly what to do at home, leave each session with a detailed exercise plan and a goal (of your choosing, so make it good!) in mind. HIGHLY recommend Kevin to anyone - especially those looking to do crazy things like running marathons, doing triathlons, or free soloing. read more

I wrote my original review above on 5/31/23 while working with Kevin. Unfortunately for me, I tore my medial meniscus and had to do another knee surgery on the same knee as my ACL in October of 2024. I came back to Graspmore and I've been working with Nick Duenas during my recovery and I could not recommend him more! I'm writing this in June 2026 and Nick has helped me get back to full unhampered activity. Nick is extremely attentive, catering recovery workout plans to the actual sports and workouts that I'm trying to get back to. He doesn't just follow a prescriptive and generic plan, he listens and adjusts based on my specific feedback and based on what he sees and feels during our sessions together. He pushed me when he could see that I could handle more but he also held me back when I pushed too far and needed time to rest. I have had the misfortune of being injury prone my entire life, and finding someone to help you recover correctly is a hard task. Kevin came highly recommended from a prior PT who I was bummed to hear left town. I could not have asked for a better replacement to help tackle my new ankle issues. Kevin has the great ability to break things down into digestible pieces - both in giving me exercise assignments and in walking me through exercises/stretches/muscle work that we do in session. He answers detailed questions, and keeps things simple to adjust where needed. Lastly, Kevin cares. Many PTs will give you a list of cookie cutter exercises and send you on your way. We spent time planning for the actual activities I want to get back to and he gives achievable goals that take into account what you can manage. I experienced a session with Steve this past week and I was very impressed with his approach. I appreciated the time and attention he put into assessing my long standing neck and shoulder issues. I also appreciated that he didn't load me up with a bunch of exercises that I would have a difficult time keeping up with. Instead he thoughtfully assigned one main exercise and a few easy band exercises. I felt that this was realistic and critically thought out. The facility is very professional and is set up more like a personal gym. Not like other PT facilities where you feel like a number being passed around from specialist, to aid and then back to the receptionist. I have been looking for a PT office to cross refer to for some time now. Steve is a fantastic therapist who goes out of his way to make sure that he understands my issues and that the exercises and stretches we're doing are having positive effects. I started working with him and the team at Graspmore to deal with a recurring lateral shift and lower back pain, and the improvements have been remarkable and immediate. I'm genuinely amazed and thankful for how quickly he helped me deal with my acute pain. In addition, he's now helping me increase my mobility and strength in a controlled and very intentional way. He was personally recommended by my sports medicine doctor and he truly lived up to the recommendation as a best in class physical therapist. He is compassionate, knowledgeable, and makes a normally laborious process fun. I left each session feeling stronger and more prepared to continue the exercise routines on my own. I had an excellent experience at GraspMore and would recommend it to anyone recovering from an injury. I came in with a herniated disc in my neck - one of the most painful injuries I've ever dealt with - and my physical therapist, Nick Duenas, made all the difference. Nick was patient, attentive, and always took the time to explain the "why" behind my treatment. He listened to me during every session and guided me through a plan that accelerated my recovery while keeping it safe. Steve and the Graspmore team have been incredible to work with on my recovery. I had dealt with a shoulder issue on and off for several years and had worked with PTs in the past, but only saw some minor reduction in symptoms, and unfortunately, the injury persisted. Graspmore stood out as they paired me with a PT who was familiar with my sport. Steve quickly identified the root cause of my injury, and we set out to correct the underlying issue versus just treating the symptoms. I am seeing Kevin for a few months now for a torn ACL recovery. Long story short, it's the strongest I've seen my legs in more than ten years since I've had my first ACL surgery - today I'm in my fourth. He is also helping me regain confidence in jumping, pivoting and agility; basic but fundamental steps to the ultimate goal of getting back to sports. Kevins the man! Dont waste your time by going to a general PT/ clinic. They will never care about you as much as Kevin does. He makes sure to create a gameplan and has clear objectives for each session. My shoulder was in pain where I couldnt even throw a baseball. After 2 months of work, he got me to a state where I can throw pain free. Additionally helping me fix my lower back pain (killing 2 birds with 1 stone). What I love about Kevin is he cares and wants you to get better. Takes the time to understand my issues and tries to solve them. I worked with Dr. Jordan Patterson on a variety of issues I've been experiencing, from knee pain to upper and lower back pain. He's attentive and has been fantastic about letting me prioritize the areas I want to work on in each session. He pushes me to get out of my comfort zone while helping me feel confident about my progress and abilities. Several times I've come in with miscellaneous pain and in 1-2 sessions he's been able to completely alleviate me of said pain without it returning. I injured my back and was in a lot of pain. I couldn't do household chores or play with my kids. I came to Graspmore and worked with Steve. Steve is AWESOME!!! The trainer Nick Duenas is thoughtful and caters to my particular needs at the time. He understands how to approach my pain to alleviate it and build strength. What first caught my attention was the information available on the website and how they claimed to "not be another" physical therapy office. As any intrigued customer would, I called and was greeted by a very friendly, competent, and helpful administrator, Toya. Toya provided a lot of great insight about the company and even called my insurance provider (Blue Cross Blue Shield) to ensure that my insurance would be accepted before scheduling my initial visit. Toya really is awesome and is one of the reasons that I chose Therapydia. Upon arrival to the Embarcadero Center, where the office is located, parking is available in the underground structure and Therapydia validates parking. Instead of paying $18, I only paid $4. The actual office is upstairs between a hair studio and other business. The office was very clean, inviting, and provided enough privacy that other patrons wouldn't know what's happening. I was originally scheduled to meet with Allison, but, I worked with Marcus instead. Marcus was friendly and knowledgeable. I'm looking forward to rehabilitating my shoulder at Therapydia and recommend them for any physical therapy needs.
