This was a 4th of July weekend girls trip. Arriving at the entrance of the hotel, a lady was…read morecoming outside looking and smiling at us. When we got out she welcomed and thanked us for being there. Very Nice !!! That felt good. She and two others were placing flags out on the property for the holiday. Checking in with the front desk clerk was exactly the same welcome. I asked who was the nice lady outside, and she said that's our GM. I was like WOW !!! It was nice to meet someone in her position so kind, down to earth and appreciative. The GM's name is Katrina. The desk clerk was Krista. Both were super sweet. The evening desk clerk was Cheryl and guess what, the same. STELLAR Employee!!! The lobby was bright and clean with the 24 hr freshly made coffee machine. YES !! The elevator, hallways and room carpets could use a deep cleaning or replaced. Our room was CLEANED perfectly with very comfortable mattresses and pillows. Housekeeping really did a fantastic job in our room. Katrina, Krista and Cheryl recommended shopping spots, restaurants and information about the fireworks display. That was AMAZING. Parking lots downtown were filled with people having fun, like a family reunion. Beautiful!!! The breakfast was GOOD !!!! In the breakfast area there was a different lady Sat and Sunday. Both were friendly, walking to the tables asking if you needed anything and if everything was ok. Replenished the hot and cold food, while keeping that area and the seating areas clean. Ok, when leaving, we see Katrina, the GM, again. She asked how was our stay there, also if we enjoyed her town. She thanked us for staying and to please return. Katrina gave us hugs. Sooo sweet. GM's are not usually around and especially assisting the-employees. With Everyone loving their jobs, says a lot for the GM. Thank you Katrina!!!!!

The room was a nice size for 2 people and we did not feel cramped in there at all. If I would only figure out the thermostat, I would have been fine but I just turned it off and on when needed. The beds were comfortable and clean. Enough soft pillows that I didn't have to ask for more. Breakfast had a few good options. I did enjoy the sausage gravy and biscuits. Overall I will stay there again when I return to Culpepper

Not only was the venue a beautiful setting for our important event, but the staff truly treat their couples like family. I have never seen a team go to greater lengths to ensure that their couples have the perfect wedding, from providing us with vendor recommendations within our budget to answering panicked midnight texts to settling issues with vendors on our behalf, we literally could not have done it without them. The day-of event went incredibly smoothly because of how prepared they helped us to be. If you're getting married, you'd be making a massive mistake not to consider Rixey Manor. We're so proud that they are forever a part of our story!

The venue was beautiful and all the staff were incredible, making sure our wedding went as smoothly as possible. Isadora and Grace were both exceptionally professional, kind, and courteous to us, our vendors, and our guests. They accommodated all of our requests throughout the planning process and during our wedding. We were especially amazed at how much backend work Rixey handled for us including setup, teardown, and wrangling of vendors. We didn't need to worry about any of that and everything came out perfectly. They also made absolutely sure that we were comfortable throughout. They kept us fed, helped the bride get ready, and regularly checked on us to make sure we were okay. On a more personal note, Isadora and Grace also went above and beyond with all of our floral needs, helping us put together our arbor flowers and a new beautiful bouquet for the bride with some of our spare flowers. At Rixey, you're in the hands of real pros who want your wedding to be perfect and are ready to go the extra mile to make sure that happens. Highly recommended. :)

I've taken two classes here: Christmas ornaments and stained glass. The owner is extremely…read morepassionate about the art- consistently developing additional designs and options. For the ornament class, we watched a safety video, watched the instructor demo, including tips on what to do and not to do, picked out our color choices, and went person by person blowing our three ornaments- it was a little tricky, but that's the fun in learning something new. The cooling process takes ~2 hours, so you'll want to find something to do during that time- downtown Culpepper is really cute though. For the stained glass class, each person got their own station with all supplies set up for them. Based on experience level, the instructor gave personalized instructions on what to do next which allowed folks to finish on their own time without feeling rushed or slowed down. There were 3 tables with 4 people each during the class I took. The instructor will help you as much or as little with the actual development (some people wanted help soldering the hooks on). I would definitely take classes again as it's clear that this business is a labor of love for the owner who showed us some additional designs she's working on. The other classmates were super welcoming and cheered on everyones's progress in both classes. I recommend for folks who want to learn something new, build community, or make something beautiful!

Make sure you get an email day of with a pin. We stayed in the violetta room. It was nice and we thought the bed and bedding was very comfortable. Parking is not included, so their website is a bit misleading on this. There is street parking that's free but it's 2-3 hours parking. No big deal but definitely misleading information from the hotel. Here's the thing. We would stay here again though. It's more like an airbnb than a hotel. There's no one working at the suites so there's no bells and whistles when it comes to service. But the suites were large, nice, clean and near all the things we wanted to do and see on Davis street. We would make sure we got a room w a steam shower next time (our suite had a nice large bathroom and shower but not a steam shower) and we would absolutely make sure we forced an email w our entrance pin out of them before we arrived.

Can hardly wait to stay at the 249 again.
