We enjoyed our stay at the Hampton Inn. We needed a place that was conveniently located near Soda Springs for a good value and we came across Hampton Inn. We arrived shortly after check-in time on a Wednesday and were able to get our keys without too much trouble, although the lady that was checking us in didn't seem too suited for customer service - she gave off sarcastic, "I don't want to be here" vibes. Our room itself was cozy, clean, and comfortable. Some of the items could have been better stocked before our stay, such as the tissues - I think we only had a few of them in the box so quickly ran out and had to request housekeeping bring more the next day. Housekeeping isn't done daily so you do have to request it manually if you need anything. There were a couple of water stains on the ceiling but nothing too major. All toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion, and hand soap are provided and the quality is actually pretty decent. I was very impressed with the complimentary breakfast included in your stay. You have hot items like eggs, potatoes, and sausage as well as cereal, muffins, bread, oatmeal, and a waffle maker. The hot items rotate, too, so you don't have the exact same breakfast each day of your stay. Staff was friendly, and the common area was very comfortable with a fair amount of seating. I believe coffee is also available all day. There was a power outage during our stay that lasted around 6-7 hours but luckily it happened in the middle of the night so most people probably didn't even realize it and it didn't impact our stay at all. I just happened to notice when I woke up in the middle of the night and noticed lights not turning on and some electronics not working. read more

Highly recommend! Super clean, very quiet and the linen is super soft. The shower pressure is so strong. I love the complimentary breakfast as well. Pets are allowed. This place isn't bad by any means. We were in town for a wedding, and Hampton Inn & Suites was one of the hotels offered for the room blocks. We chose this place particularly because of its affordability. We didn't get to the hotel under midnight. Candi was our receptionist during this time, and she provided such great customer service. She had the best attitude and a lot of energy for someone working grave shift. Our room was fine. It was clean and conveniently located by an entrance to the parking lot (FYI $15/night). Sure, it was very dated and had a few stains on the floor, but my husband and I had a comfortable stay. Our bed had the right firmness, so we both slept like logs. read more

As a Hilton diamond member, I had to wait a bit for a room so was disappointed in that aspect. But the front desk agent was kind enough to issue me a guest key so that I could use the pool. It was a hot July day, and I sat out by the pool waiting for my room. There's free breakfast. That's always a plus. Rooms are spacious and accommodating. There's only one sink though. The room has a fireplace! How many Hamptons have you stayed at that have a actual fireplace in the guest room? Granted it's gas and not wood-burning but still the ambience is lovely. This is what I sent the manager in an email. It has been nearly two weeks and he never responded to me, so I feel okay about posting it. I usually don't like to bash a place without them having a chance to address the issues, but no option here. When my wife and I checked in last Thursday you indicated you were looking for feedback on the new Hotel. My wife and I spend many nights per year in Hilton properties, so I have a very good point of reference. We are Diamond members, so I have my expectations from Hilton when I stay in one of their properties. Here are my thoughts, take them or leave them: Hotel positives: Beautifully decorated room The hotel property itself is very nice. Very clean The staff, ;from front desk, to bartender, to housekeeping, all very nice, very welcoming, very accommodating. Alyssa, no matter what she demands salary-wise, do everything you can to keep her. If I were a business owner, she would be my first hire. Free parking Hotel Negatives: One ice machine (that rarely had ice) for a three story, 120 or so room hotel. Not good. The breakfast situation is a debacle. The set-up itself is totally without forethought. You had everything on the bar, with bar stools still there and in the way. When people were sitting at the tall table nearest the bar, on the bar side, it was nearly impossible to get at the food/coffee. And speaking of coffee, one Nespresso machine for a hotel full of people? That was simply ridiculous. In the mornings, people want to fill there coffee cups with 12-16 oz of coffee and get on down the road. The Nespresso takes forever to put out 8 oz, so you had people at the machine for 4-6 minutes at a time filling several cups. It took forever. Yet behind the bar is, what appears to be, a perfectly good commercial grade coffee maker. Yet, when I asked the two different attendants in the morning and the bartender at night, why coffee wasn't being served from that machine, I received a variety of answers from it doesn't work, to you didn't have the filters, to "I don't know." As I told you, this is my fourth year in a spending a long July weekend at this property and when there was the typical Hampton Inn breakfast, the mornings were crowded with families, hikers, golfers, people in general. The current set up had brought this particular attraction to a halt (with the exception of the line of people waiting for coffee). The bar is beer and wine only. When we checked in, you told my wife and I you had a full bar. Full bar includes spirits. You need silica sand on a shuffleboard table to make it work, otherwise sliding the pucks will quickly destroy your investment into that table. Room Positives: Big shower towels. Loved that A/C worked well Room Negatives: No iron The Nespresso in the room is not ideal. If a person hasn't had any experience with that brand, it was difficult to figure out. This is especially true with the coffee pods which are not marked regular, decaf, etc. There is no way to tell which colored pod is which. I finally went to the woman running the breakfast machine and she told me blue pods are regular coffee. That's fine, but my room only had yellow, green, and red pods, which meant I wasn't given any regular coffee to begin with which meant a trip to the standing in line Nespresso machine at the breakfast station. I finally received blue pods from the front desk (by the way, the situation was the same with the two other couples we were travelling with-no blue pods in the room). No ice bucket No water glasses Lights in the bathroom are on a motion detector and timer. The light goes off while you are in the shower. Over and over again. Unless you take a 90 second shower. You literally have to step out of the shower and into the bathroom itself to activate the light or call your spouse/roommate to come in and move around to turn the light back on. A big room for two should have two luggage racks, not one. No safe. . I don't know how serious you were about wanting honest feedback, but there it is. From the moment you walk in, or greeted warmly. The staff is all super friendly and helpful. Even housekeeping greets you warmly. There are plenty of options to stay in Truckee, however this home definitely has the best breakfast. There are two different coffee's, decaf and light rose. There is a hot water dispenser in case you want hot cocoa or tea. There's a juice machine, Hot cereal station, and a warmer that has either sausage or kielbasa and then to the right of that there is either French toast or mini cheese omelettes. Behind all of this, there is a waffle station wife can make your own waffle. They have different waffle batter's, melted for the Belgian style waffle and then cinnamon roll batter. I have tried the cinnamon roll, it's very good. To the left of that there are two different types of fruit jams to put on your waffle as well as butter and syrup. Next to the juice, there is a bread station where you can get bagels, muffins, danishes. Kind of small and compact but contains pretty much everything that is needed for a good breakfast. This is not a cheap place. It is a Hampton Inn, and also it is in Truckee. Both require a premium. But the service is outstanding as well as... The breakfast! read more

Last minute booking in the height of summer will cost ya. A double queen suite was about $500 which is a bit of coin, but the only available option and was a nice sized room for my little family of 4. (Bonus: a nice and clean pack and play crib for the babies). The lobby is really nice, however that updated niceness does not extend to the rooms which are sadly a bit old and outdated. They were super clean tho, so that's a bonus. The suite had a fridge and sink, along with a sitting area and 2 bathrooms. The beds were pretty comfy and the free breakfast wasn't terrible. They have a small, but nice outdoor pool and hot tub area with lounge chairs which was nice in that Tahoe summer heat. It's located next to a gas station and market, a walking path to Raley's the grocery store and I believe a brew-pub, and across the street (pretty much) from the Martis Valley with beautiful walking and bike paths. Overall, if in a bind Hampton Inn isn't a terrible option for basic clean lodging. read more

This is our second time staying here. Upon pulling in you are under an large overhang. This is great because when we drove in a hail storm started. The front desk is efficient and quick for checking in. When you walk in there is fireplace with a switch if you want it on and overstuffed chairs to hang sit in while toasting by the fire. The lobby comes with Tahoe/Truckee magazines and the current newspaper. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are available too. Luggage cars are available for use in the front entry. This is an older hotel, but does't have the older musty smell. It is very fresh including the rooms. The rooms are large and come with a microwave and fridge. They also include a shower tub combo. We had the king room. The heater works great, just give it a minute to warm up. With the heater on or off the room is fresh. With out the heater the room stays at a very comfortable 72 degrees. Breakfast is included in your stay. Includes are hot items, it varies on the day, eggs, omelets, sausage, bacon, and potatoes. Make your own waffles, oatmeal, cold cereal, muffins, yogurt, bread, bagels, coffee (tea, hot chocolate), and juice. It was all very satisfying and fresh. There is a gym, spa, and pool. We used the gym. It is equipped with a treadmill, pelleton (exercise bike), elliptical, weight balls, and free weights. Everything we needed for a good work out. Towels are in the room along with a water machine. This is our second time staying here and we'd come back. Just an FYI this place is pet friendly so you will see a lot of dogs. read more

I stayed at this Hamptons in Truckee CA. Overall, I enjoyed my multiple day stay. It was a good alternative to the higher priced hotels and resorts in the area. Lake Tahoe, Carnelian Bay and Kings Beach, is about 12 miles down the road. My room was clean. The room furnishings and decor were basic. The shower pressure and water temps were excellent. The toiletries were Neutrogena brand. The AC unit worked well. The mattress was good. Hmmm...The coffee pot and its accouterments were placed in the bathroom though. I suppose they placed it there because the bathroom counter has more space vs the counter space in the room. There is no fridge or microwave. Bummer. Normally that would have been a deal breaker but for the price of this hotel vs the others, the savings made up for it. They have an outdoor pool with lots of lounge chairs. The hotel provides towels for pool and gym use. They have fire pits. The gym has a stationary recumbent bike, treadmill, elliptical, free weights, and exercise bike. The parking lot had plenty of spaces. There are complimentary baked cookies and red apples in the afternoon at the checkin counter. They offer complimentary breakfast. Nice big ole spread! They switch up the main offerings daily, including a meat option. Variety! One day it was country potatoes, bagel bites, and bacon. Another day it was scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and biscuits & gravy. The daily breakfast offerings includes make your own Belgian waffles, hard boiled eggs, cereals, oatmeal, toast, muffins, English muffins, cinnamon rolls, bagels, yogurt, and whole pieces of fruit. CONS: 1. The hotel charged a "junk fee" - now illegal in California - of $15/day for parking. I filed a dispute with my credit card issuer, who reversed the charges. To knowingly do this illegally and see what they can get away with, making quests go through this effort to get their money back, is simply uncaring and irresponsible. 2. No AARP discount given here despite their advertising of "up to 10% off". 3. Mold in the bathtub. 4. TV shut off repeatedly after a few minutes of use. For Mother's Day weekend our family decided to go on a mini getaway to North Lake Tahoe. We stayed at the Hampton Inn and in Truckee. Although it is tucked away from the beach and town, it provides a quiet, peaceful, nature getaway with attractions only about 15 minutes away. Prior to arriving we did the virtual check in and chose are room. I was impressed by how easy everything worked out. When we arrived, we let the front desk know we did the virtual and they let us know we could head straight up to our room. The door to the room was sealed with tape indicating it was sanitized and ready. When we walked in the room was clean, we appreciated the Neutrogena soaps, fridge, and microwave. The king bed was comfy and I was actually impressed with their desk chair which isn't anything anyone ever thinks about unless you have to sit at the desk and work a bit. The Hampton Inn did an excellent job providing a fulfilling breakfast despite Covid protocols. They had boxes to go filled with a bagel, cream cheese, yogurt and 2 eggs. If you wanted more there were also Greek yogurt, granola, boxed cereal, milk, soy milk and fruit to grab and go. It wasn't your usual full buffet breakfast, but it was more than I was expecting. Sadly disappointed. We have been Hilton Honors members for years and always stay in one of their establishments while traveling. All I can say is do not stay at this location. After a long day of travel all we wanted to do was crawl into a comfy bed and crash. I always make it a point to check the mattresses for critters (bed bugs and such) before climbing in. I'm so glad I checked because what did we find? BED BUGS An immediate call to the front desk and they quickly asked us to pack up and they would give us another room. We checked the new room when fortunately the mattress was ok but was very hard and not comfortable. This location is one in need of some serious updating. It's old, tired and just needs a good painting and cleaning. One of the perks is a hot breakfast in the morning. This one was just let's say luke warm and very picked over. I was thankful that they had a waffle maker. I was able to make a hot waffle. Most times it hits the spot, but not this morning. We would definitely not recommend staying here. read more

Stayed here for one night after skiing/snowboarding at Palisades. Wasn't too far of a drive but area has limited food options -there's a Raley's if you need hot food/options for picky people and want to get food at one location. Room is relatively large but looks outdated. Got a king room with pull out bed/couch. The "mattress" was super springy and lumpy but thankfully the closet had an extra thick "non fluffy blanket" we could lay down. Pillow was super flat ; had to fold it in half to get some decent height. Blanket already on the pull out bed was heavy but thin, so would have been nice to have had and extra fluffy, "normal" blanket in the closet. Air/heat coming from the wall unit was very loud so could not get a restful nights sleep. Shower had good pressure but at the max, water was only warm. Light in bathroom (with shower/tub and toilet) is weirdly connected to the light outside where the sink is. We could not figure this out in the morning when one of us wanted to shower and me and the kid were still sleeping and had to have the light on. Could hear water from bathroom shower loud and clear from the beds... The tv is tiny. Meh... will try a different place next time we are in Palisades. Also did not have shower caps when I asked the front desk. read more

DANGER TO PUBLIC HEALTH! The room was extremely filthy, it had bugs and the bathroom had many stains of mold. (I have many pictures to prove this) The housekeeping didn't clean our room (apparently housekeeping only performs their duties every other day). I made an official complaint at the receptionist upon check out and asked for a discount, given the extremely bad conditions. My complaint was totally ignored. She said the manager will contact me via e-mail, but he didn't, although I'm a Hilton Gold member. The receptionist admitted the hotel requires reconstruction, but they still dare to ask for 550$/room for 2 nights with the pretext that it's a touristic area... Even more so, they should not play with people's health in a touristic area! I have allergy to mold and a strong allergic reaction since I stayed in the filthy hotel in Truckee. This hotel destroys the Hilton brand. It was the dirtiest Hilton hotel I've ever stayed in. Any cheap motel has better conditions, even at Lake Tahoe! read more

My wife and I stayed 7/4- 7-5. The room was dirty and the breakfast practically nonexistent. We went to the breakfast area at 7:30 am on 7/5. It was crowded and most of the food was gone. I would prefer to pay for breakfast than endure the mess we were subjected to. My advice is either do it right or do not offer breakfast at all. We will not be coming back. read more

I don't know why the average of this hotel is as high as it is (especially after reading many reviews). This hotel will go into the history books as the worst customer service ever. I booked a reservation and three days before our trip, my kid came down with two highly contangious illnesses. I called to cancel (or reschedule to a later date) and they would not allow it - apparently, I was beyond the date to cancel. I never book non-refundable rooms (I have kids, you learn not to do that). I asked for a manager but no one was available, they put me into a voicemail that was "full". The property not only wanted one nights stay as penalty, they charged me for the full reservation. I will elevate this, but for now, all I can say read the other negative reviews and steer clear of this place. There are much better places in Truckee. read more

We stay here every season at least once. Checkin is easy and efficient. Rooms are quiet and the beds are comfortable. The heater however is loud and cycles on and off all night. If you are sensitive to noise, this might not be a good option. Breakfast is really limited if you are GF. The powdered eggs are as good as any. Oatmeal is hidden behind the counter. Not sure if I'm in a position to complain since I used points to stay here for two nights. 60,000 per night!! I had the pleasure of listening to what sounded like a circus above me. The noise from the people above me was insane. Running and jumping non-stop to the point my bed would vibrate. I called the front desk and they said they would send someone up. Didn't help and there was no change until very late. I was awoken at 6:45 am to the same loud obnoxious people. I had enough and I was convinced that the front desk wasn't going to do anything so I went upstairs to investigate. To my surprise, two small children about 3-5 years old were racing up and down the hallway right above where my room was. I located the parents and let them know that this was Incredibly loud for the floor below them. Of course these parents could take no accountability for their kids actions. It only added to my frustration to see several signs posted in that part of the hallway (attached) warning about keeping the noise down. So basically this is a known issue but they have no issue filling the rooms below this high noise area. I went to the front desk after breakfast and they couldn't be bothered. On another note, the room was dated and had a distinct odor which was not pleasant. Also, upon checking in they gave me two free bottles of water for being a platinum member but did not offer me one of the free snacks you get to choose from. Needless to say I will NOT be staying here again. In fact this helped me make my choice to switch back to Bonvoy. I just got approved for the Amex Bonvoy Brilliance card prior to this post. read more

I thought the hotel was great! Great location, cheaper than other options, but definitely clean, safe, and nice. We had a large room with two queens and a pullout. Dogs are welcome, although there is a no dogs allowed sign in the lobby. The website says otherwise. One of the most over priced hotels I ever stayed at. $525.27 per night ridiculous. They even charge $15 for parking per night, not fenced or gated. The room had water stains in the ceiling from roof leaks and the carpet was so dirty and stained our socks were black on the bottom. Housekeeping only empties the room trash every other day. No towels provided at the pool. Jets didn't work in the hot tub. The hotel only has one elevator which is very slow. Fitness room equipment was out of service. The only good thing about the place was the staff was friendly. Hilton should conduct a corporate audit of this place. Not representing the Hilton brand very well. Was comped a room here for a one night stay in town, conveniently 15 minutes away from Kings Beach and 7 minutes from main Truckee establishments. Easy check-in, check-out. There was a Yelp check-in offer "500 Free Sweet Suite Upgrade," which stated "Tell us you found us on Yelp and your first resrevation with us we will upgrade you to a suite (subject to availability). Free breakfast too." However, since this is that weird time in-between seasons (snow over, but summer hasn't officially started yet), they said they had no suites available since they're renovating them in time for summer visitors. Oh well. Got a single King bed on the second floor, facing the front of the property. It was an okay room, flatscreen TV, thermostat behaved/cooperated, closet and bathroom space. Coffeemaker was located in the bathroom rather than on the desk, no fridge or microwave. The ice machine on the second floor was also broken, had to go to either the first or third floor instead. The pool was closed seasonally but the hot tub is year round, outdoors with the jets timed for 15 minutes/session. Was not aware of any free cookies as mentioned by other reviewers, but the hot cider/cocoa/coffee/tea was available 24 hours. The free breakfast was pretty good, two ladies working who were very attentive with collecting any plates we were done with, also in charge of the waffle station (brought directly to our table with the butter/syrup/utensils already) and made sure fresh fruits were replenished. The variety was good, waffles made to order, cheese omelets, veggie omelets, and sausage slices kept warm, sliced pineapple, grapefruit, oranges, blueberries, papaya, bagels, two kinds of muffins, regular and Greek yogurt cups, four types of cereal, regular and soy milk, four kinds of juice from the machine. The fitness room was alright, one treadmill, one stationary bike, one elliptical, and free weights/medicine balls to choose from. The banquet rooms were in use and seemed to be furnished well. The whole look of the place does fit into the whole ski lodge feel. Guest parking is to the rear of the hotel, with preferred parking in front. There is also a gas station and sandwich shop. So-so hotel with so-so customer service. Take your moneys elsewhere folks. I noticed an unusual charge on my account after I had left and I called to try and resolve what this mysterious charge was. The man who had picked up was rude and could use a serious lesson in over the phone customer service. I asked what the charge was and he said it was taxes on my room although I don't remember taxes amounting to over $100 for a one night stay. I'm perplexed. He should have explained to me what these taxes were for line item by line item but he promptly ended the call without giving me time to ask questions. They're associated with Welks resorts so I'd rather just stay away period. If you read the reviews online, these guys are notorious for shuttling people into their timeshare presentations and charges unusual fees without further explanation. Aside from the complementary breakfast and the sweet lady manning the kitchen in the wee hours of the morning, I won't step foot into another Welks associated establishment. read more

Free breakfast was decent---sausage patties, french toast sticks, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, waffles, oatmeal, juice, soy milk, fresh fruit, etc. They also have a grab-and-go breakfast at the front desk too. Parking and wi-fi are all complimentary. My only gripe is that the room doesn't come with a microwave or a mini fridge. I thought all Hampton Inns came with those! When I inquired about getting a mini fridge, the employee said it would be another $15. For the amount that you pay for a room (I think it was $185), you'd think they'd stock each room with those, or at least waive the fees for customers who request one? read more

I love this hotel. I stayed here the last weekend of September while my friends were running the Spartan Race, and was so pleasantly surprised by my experience here! The vibes are warm and cozy, with wooden furtniture all around the lobby and a fire place to make you feel right at home. The staff was ACTUALLY friendly, which unfortunately seems to be kind of rare in the hospitality industry. The hotel offers free breakfast which is insane because it's ACTUALLY good! There's a huge variety of food - literally anything you could think of breakfast wise from eggs to meat to cereal to oatmeal to pastries and beyond. I was very pleasantly surprised. They also have OJ + other juices, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Just so good. The GM of this hotel made a big impression on me. First off, he's hilarious. And second, he is genuinely a great GM. I saw him visiting tables and greeting people at breakfast, and the next moment I saw him sweeping up some stuff on the rug. He's definitely a well rounded manager and I can tell he really cares about his hotel. I also don't usually like small talk, but this guy was super engaging and genuine. 5 stars for the GM! read more

I wish I could give them 0 stars. They don't care if the roads are closed or the weather is bad. Even if you can't get to the hotel, they will charge you your stay. They won't even give you a credit. Management is not willing to work with you. Save your money and find another place. read more

There are newer and better options in Truckee at the same price point. Unlike when it opened several decades ago, the facility now seems old and tired. Also, as another review noted, management will not work with you if you can't get there because I-80 is closed due to snow (as it was for three days recently, including the first day of my reservation). Non-refundable rates are common. But refusing to move a reservation back one day in these circumstances is unreasonable. read more
