I have purchased a lot of used cars through my lifetime and had a lot of bad experiences with pushy sales people that have really turned me off of buying a vehicle from car lots. We wanted a Chevy Truck and as they are hard to come by on the peninsula we were kinda "forced" into buying from a dealer. These 2 brothers totally changed my mind on small car lots. First of all, they were not pushy in any way. We were given a good price for our trade in and a good deal on the truck. We were promised snow tires from the original owner at purchase and they were unable to get them. I fully believed they would not follow through after the sale on the promise but they found other tires for us. It was a pleasant surprise. Turns out they have a very good reputation in this town. I'm very surprised at the low ratings given for this dealership. I know quite a few friends who have purchased from Gray Motors and I have never heard anything bad about them. We have purchased several vehicles from this place and have never had an issue ever. In fact, I purchased a 2007 truck from them and after signing the papers, they had one of the techs wash the truck for me. He came back in after a few moments and said we needed to look at something. The paint was peeling right off the top of the cab! They offered to let me out of the contract, or have their paint shop repair it. I elected for the repaint and they did a great job. If you plan on buying anything from Gray Motors, make sure you test EVERYTHING from the smallest switch to every light bulb and major or minor feature. This was a review I wrote on 8/8/19 and sent to Gray Motors before I published it: I saw a van in your lot that looked like what I wanted. I like to support local businesses and I had a friend that had purchased a vehicle from Gray and I figured with as many years at Gray Motors has been in business there would be no issues. I also had cash and did not need any financing. My first visit at the end of June, the van battery was dead. I forgave being ignored on my second visit after Ernie (first visit) forgot to tell Michael to charge the battery of the Grand Caravan I was very interested in purchasing. I was not in a hurry so there was no pressure from me to deliver it until the rear gate motor was replaced and the draw on the battery diagnosed. We did the paper work and I signed on the dotted line. Never heard a thing until Donna called 7/31 and offered to put the plates on my van. I explained I had no van and asked to speak to Michael who was out on an errand. Never got a call back. I called 8/1 and Michael was off for the day. I talked to Ernie on 8/2 and expressed my displeasure at the situation. I said to cancel the purchase unless I hear from Gray Motors by Wed. 8/7. My next contact was with Donna on 8/8 offering to have the plates put on the van which I still did not have. I feel that I was ignored and did not receive good customer service based on the fact I am a senior female. I'm sure Gray Motors doesn't agree, but from my point of view that is what has occurred. If I feel it, it is real! I am really disappointed. The van was exactly what I was looking for and now I have to start again. I assume you will void the van registration in my name. Please provide me with a document verifying that has happened." 10/8/19. Michael at Gray Motors FINALLY responded quickly and communicated that the sales tax had already been paid and the car registered, and it would be burdensome for them to 'unsell' the car. They said the delay was because the draw on the battery was difficult to diagnose. They sent it to another garage with more expertise. When this information was finally COMMUNICATED to me, I opted to be patience since the van was what I wanted. I received the van (license plates were not on it) and I thought I was done with having issues. NOT SO. Yes, the rear gate motor was working, but they neglected to set it up, so the gate opened then immediately closed - on my head! Adjustment made and all was well. Then a week after I got the car the sensor for a low tire came on. I took it to Les Schwab tires and the tire stem was damaged, and the sensor needed to be replaced for $98.00. Gray paid me back. One week later the tire was again showing low pressures. Took it to Les Schwab and the tire had a nail in it near the stem and that it was in an area that could not be repaired. Had to get a new tire. The next thing was the overhead lights did not come on when you opened the door, no bulbs were in the light fixture. They got the bulbs, but the fixture itself was bad. I went away for a couple of weeks and we agreed I would come in when I returned to have a new (used) part installed. I called Ernie, the owner on 10/23/19 and he setup an appointment for 1pm on 10/24/19. When I arrived, he was not on the premises. I waited TWO hours then I asked for a ride home. When the car was delivered only one of the items I asked to be addressed was completed. I feel I was more than tolerant through this entire process. I consider my self a patience and understanding person and maybe tend to 'over trust', But Gray Motors has changed that. I should have acted upon cancelling the sale entirely avoided the stress! read more

Gray Motors Screws Army Vet Cancer Survivor Gray Motors says "We treat you like family". I guess this is true if you consider cheating me like a drug addict ex-brother-in-law is treating me like family. I am an Army Veteran and a cancer survivor. I live on a very tight budget with my wife in Tacoma. I needed a new truck when it was clear that my van with over 300,000 miles on it wasn't going to keep going much longer. I searched long and hard to find a used truck that I could afford and that was in reasonably good condition. After weeks of looking I found the truck I was looking for at Gary Motors in Port Angeles. I checked references for the dealership and talked at length with the salesman. When everything seemed to be looking good I drove the 2 hours to Port Angeles to look at the truck and test drive it. The truck looked great and it drove great too, so I bought the truck. The tires were very low tread so I knew I would have to be getting new tires soon. After driving the truck for almost a month I got new tires at Costco. The technician said that it took longer than usual because there was a large amount of grease on the bottom of the truck. It turns out that Gray Motors had the bearings and Ball-Joints packed with grease so they would operate properly and test drive fine. In very short order after the tire change I started to notice the bearings "humming" and lots of other issues with the truck. I called Gray Motors and they agreed to have there mechanic take care of it. I would have to drive the 2 hours to Port Angeles, but they would fix the problem. After 2 weeks they still hadn't arranged the repair. They said their mechanic was sick and offered to send me a check to have the repairs made in Tacoma. After many calls and another 3 weeks I finally received a check for $200 from them. This isn't enough money to have even one of the wheel bearing repaired not to mention the now long list of other items that have turned up. I believe that Gary Motors deliberately hid problems with the truck and then kept saying they would work with me hoping I would go away or that enough time would pass that I would have no legal claim against them. This is the most dissatisfied I have ever been with a vehicle purchase. BEWARE OF GRAY MOTORS!!!! read more

Got a good deal and was treated RIGHT. I would (and have) recommend these guys. I always take the license plate thing off when I buy a new car, but in this case I left the Grey Motors one on. STAY AWAY!!! GRAY MOTORS LIES TO THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! At first they seemed like a decent company. However, they have trouble with honesty. There's actually a sign in the office about how they don't have to go ask their boss before they're able to sign off on a deal, yet when I gave a counter-offer for the truck... the salesman, Mike Smith, said he'd have to talk to his boss before he agreed to it. What a Joke. I drove all the way from Portland, Oregon for the truck and as part of the deal they were supposed to fill the truck's tank with gas for me. When I got there and was signing paperwork I asked about this and Mike says, "Yeah, I'll splash some gas in it." I said, "You mean you'll fill it, right? That IS what we agreed on." Mike said, "Yeah, we'll fill it." Then after the deal is done and I climb in my new truck... the tank is half full! I went back in and, condescendingly, Mike said, "Are we really quibbling over $30?" I told him NO, I expect you to be good to your word. He says fine and that because it was only him left there for the evening, he'd have to send me a check. GUESS WHAT NEVER CAME IN THE MAIL!?
