Lisa, our walker (and dogs new best friend) came over quickly to do a "meet and greet" with the pups, learned about their schedule and our home, and that was it. Some simple paperwork and now we're all setup! She did a great job coming over and caring for them - and best of all (as you are all dog folks reading this) left us a note each time and even sent me pictures of them as I was out of town! I've gotten two outstanding cats from this place. Sashimi, the adult tabby, came home about two years ago and has been the sweetest girl - my friends call her "angel cat" because she would never hurt a fly and loves people. Maki, the baby tuxedo, is the most well socialized kitten I've ever met. She is so brave and doesn't seem to understand the concept of strangers - I definitely credit the caregivers for socializing her so well. Both so healthy and happy! Thank you Hinsdale Humane Society for being such a reliable place and taking such great care of the little ones in their care! My home is a much happier place because of what you all do!

She kept calling me telling me that they were closed so I needed to get there. Both of my dogs ended up with eye infections after the first time. The second time, the owner insisted I came on the wrong day and charged me extra because my dog had anxiety. As I left, my dogs were bleeding. Not only is the owner rude, but she takes forever to groom the dogs. I will not be going back.

I didn't feel any pressure or stress with anything. I felt very comfortable, confident and appreciated. Everyone has their own experiences and all I can say is from the amounts of times I've been there, these two recent events I can say nothing but great things. Do your research before you commit in any location. What fits me and my furry friend may not be for everyone. For just our three cats, we're paying over $270 per month, not including our dogs. We have invested a significant amount of money in this practice because we trusted our pets would receive timely and compassionate care. Over the weekend, my dachshund developed what was suspected to be a spinal disc injury, requiring an emergency veterinary visit. Because Elmhurst Animal Care Center recently changed its policy to weekday walk-ins only, we had no choice but to seek emergency care and pay a $1,500 emergency vet bill. Today, around 10:00 a.m., I came to the clinic for follow-up care. I explained my dog's condition to the front desk and was told there were three people ahead of me. To keep him as calm as possible and reduce the risk of further injury, I waited with him in the cat area, away from other dogs. After waiting an hour and a half, I checked back in and was told there were still two people ahead of me. By that point, every client who had been there before us had already left. There was only one other dog waiting, and several exam rooms appeared to be empty. I explained to the front desk employee (a Latino man wearing black glasses) that my dog had a possible spinal injury, was becoming increasingly overstimulated, and that I was concerned he would jump and worsen his condition. I simply asked whether we could wait in an exam room to help keep him calm. His response was that it was "not their policy." I understand that policies exist and that veterinary staff deal with emergencies every day. However, policies should never outweigh common sense or compassion when a patient has a suspected spinal injury. I wasn't asking to be seen ahead of anyone else--I was simply asking for a safer place to wait so my dog wouldn't risk further injury. As someone who pays hundreds of dollars every month for wellness plans and has entrusted five pets to this practice, I found the lack of empathy and flexibility incredibly disappointing. I expect a veterinary clinic to prioritize patient welfare, especially in situations where a simple accommodation could help prevent further harm. Today's experience left me feeling unsupported and questioning whether this is the level of care clients should expect. I will be considering taking my pets out of here after our contract runs out. I encourage everyone who took the time to read this to invest in places that invest in you and your pets.

I adopted…read morea dog who had several ongoing health conditions that were evident in his medical history which was not disclosed at the time of adoption. They were informed that I did not have the financial capacity in order to accommodate a dog that would need significant financial commitment beyond standard vet appointments and care. When I took him to the vet, they pointed out several lifelong health issues that were extremely severe and would need hundreds of dollars' worth of treatment monthly. When I looked his past medical history, it seems to have been the shelter was pursuing ongoing treatment of these issues but decided not to inform me although I was very up front with my limitations. Additionally, I only had him for 5 days at the vet clinic they had discovered that he had a severe double ear infection to the point he was bleeding, clearly not something that developed in just a few days. When I adopted him, they told me and my family he was a healthy dog that would need little medical assistance and that he was vet checked which was clearly a lie considering the state we brought him home in. Over the past 5 days we have bonded and he has gotten along with all our family members and even our other dog. I unfortunately, had to surrender him due to the lack of disclosure of information, when I talked to the operations manager the solution she gave me was that she was sorry and that it can be hard to diagnose things. But looking in his medical chart there has been a long-standing issue with this very same problem and was once on the same very expensive medicine that we were expected to put him on. I am hurt that there was little to no resolution other than taking a dog away from a loving family that just didn't have enough money to accommodate to his needs, but also little accountability of their actions. The general manager was largely dismissive, never offered any solutions to me and my visibly extremely upset family. Instead, we left the office in tears with an "I'm sorry that happened". And just to highlight to any prospective adopters from this shelter in their contract it says they are not liable for any misinformation they may give as it may be from third party sources, in other words it is okay for them to misinform and lie to your face. But to leave this review on a more positive note I fortunately was able to treat his double ear infection before surrendering him, he is so deserving of a loving home unfortunately I just cannot afford a dog with such severe medical issues.
