Such a lovely place! The coffees were really great and flavorful without being too sweet. The decor inside was really cool and also had games available. Everything was clean and peaceful. The pastries looked great as well but we didn't get any. The staff were all kind and brought the drinks to our table. We found this place through Yelp today for the first time, even though we've been living on Cape Cod for 26 years. Just looking for a new good cup of coffee while getting a radiator fixed here in Hyannis. It is a jewel of a place in an unsuspecting location in a little strip mall off of the main highway. Delicious foods, wonderful coffees, extremely friendly staff, nice warm vibe in the long rectangular room. As a baby boomer I still must sigh at the price of going out for coffee these days and a mocha here is seven bucks. A latte, six. Higher than most places, but they have a display on the counter with small items for sale to aid in Ukraine relief, so I love and respect that. Worth a visit if you're anywhere close. read more

That being said, it seemed very slow... there weren't clear lists of flavors or anything posted so you had to wait to get up to the counter to find out the options. They have a self-service "kiosk" / tablet, but it's right in front of the cashier... so as I was scrolling through to try to look at options... she was trying to take my order and ask me what I wanted (starting to try to narrow down options with questions... instead of offering the options or a moment to scroll through the menu). Walked 4 miles here to get here on vacation since it was the only place that carried matcha near me (LOL). It was well worth it!! Craft coffee in Hyannis. We obsess about the details so you don't have to. Beans roasted on Cape Cod, espresso pulled to recipe, milk textured for the drink, and signatures dialed for balance from the start. Flat whites, cortados, lattes, pour over, and seasonal signatures rotate throughout the year – strawberry rose and honey lavender in summer, house-made pumpkin spice in fall, and gingerbread in winter. When a coffee is worth it, we roast it ourselves, like the bourbon barrel-aged beans behind last winter's mocha. Established in 2021.

Great Awakening began with a simple idea: some of the best connection happens around a table, and great coffee gives us a reason to gather there. We opened GA to create a beautiful, welcoming place where people from across our community could slow down, share a table, and genuinely connect. Since then, we've become increasingly obsessed with the other half of that idea: making the coffee itself worth gathering around. That pursuit has shaped everything from the beans we choose and sometimes roast ourselves to the way we build, taste, and refine every drink and seasonal recipe.

We're Andrew and Inna, the husband-and-wife team behind Great Awakening. We love coffee, but we love what happens around it even more. GA brings together the things we care about: genuine hospitality, meaningful connection, creativity, and the pursuit of making something exceptionally well. We're hands-on owners, so you'll often find one or both of us behind the counter. We're continually tasting, adjusting, building, and refining – because the smallest details add up to the experience we want every guest to have.

First of all, the bathroom was gross. A ring in the toilet is equivalent to the suffe-ring I'm about to endure coming to this place. Second, the three young ladies working there did not greet us and seemed endlessly annoyed that we had committed the unforgivable crime of... walking into the coffee shop and ordering coffee. Now let's talk about the coffee. Their menu is handwritten, which would be cute if it were actually UPDATED. The flavor listed was no longer the flavor of the day, it was the flavor of yesterday, the actual flavor of the day was already out, and somehow the flavor of the month -- horchata -- was just coffee. Pot. Coffee. How is horchata a pot coffee??? Did we sprinkle cinnamon into the regular brew and say, "¡Olé, she's horchata now!"? And how are you OUT of coffee flavors when coffee is literally the main character here? Also, the coffee was lukewarm at best. I'm no co-fee-nnoisseur, but I have had many a coffees in my lifetime, and one thing I know for certain is that HOT COFFEE should, at minimum, be hot. Then came the food. The stuffed waffle sandwich was FROZEN in the middle. We returned it. They "made" another one... and somehow Round 2 came back lukewarm, soggy, and equally depressing. At that point, just hand me the microwave and let me finish cooking it myself. The bacon, egg and croissant sandwich was another mystery. That "croissant" had the texture, density, and emotional support capabilities of a hoagie. Listen, I understand this is a coffee place and not a Michelin-starred breakfast establishment. But if the food is going to arrive iced, soggy, frozen in the middle, and impersonating a croissant, maybe stop selling food until everyone has made peace with the toaster oven or a good microwave at the very least. And apparently they didn't know how to make one of the sandwiches THEY ADVERTISE. Ma'am. It is your sandwich. But what really killed the entire experience was watching how one employee was being treated by her own coworkers. They were mean and uncomfortable to watch, especially toward a coworker who appeared to be LGBTQ+. Whatever was going on, the energy was awful. Suddenly the unwelcoming service made a lot more sense. Mean-girl service + lukewarm pot coffee + frozen breakfast sandwiches + mystery croissants = one very negative experience. Neither Mary nor Lou would be happy with this display. Mary? Disappointed. Lou? Probably asking to have his name taken off the building. And me? Still trying to understand how cinnamon coffee became horchata. Mary and Lou, please come play Secret Santa and Secret Shop at your own coffee shop, because somebody needs to unwrap what is going on here. I'll never return here, thanks tres mean amigas!

Anyone with a sweet tooth would be happy with the offerings, from fruity to chocolate. It was later in the day, but there was a decent amount of pastries still left. I went with a slab of passionfruit cake. The creamy icing was just the right amount of thickness for me. The fruity filling in the cake itself is sweet, great passionfruit flavor, and best consumed with one other person. We were pretty stuffed after! I wish we had more room for more of the other delicious-looking pastries or even the cheese bread.

This local coffee shop is such a gem! It seems to be run by a husband-and-wife team, and you can really feel the care they put into the place. I ordered a honey lavender latte, and it was amazing. Not only was it beautiful, but it tasted even better. The flavor was perfectly balanced -- not too sweet, with just the right hint of lavender -- and the coffee itself was excellent quality. I'll definitely be back! Highly recommend if you're looking for great coffee and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. read more

I absolutely love this place! The owners Andrew & ENA and staff could not be more wonderful. They are my favorite coffee house on Cape Cod and the interior is absolutely stunning! I always order the chai Latte with expresso and house made almond milk. It's about Ten Thousand times better than Starbucks. I highly recommended everyone checking out this place if you're in the area. Big thanks to The Great Awakening for the hard work and love they put into their business.
