Marylou's is one of the places I have to hit when I come back around this way. Their coffee is on par with anyone's. Nothing overly special just good quality. But on this trip I found out their food offerings are way better than either Dunkin or Honey Dew. The breakfast sandwiches are of surprisingly good quality. The Grandma's coffee cake really does taste like a grandmother made it. I may only get here once every year or two. But it's always on the radar. read more

I came in today around 10 AM with my sister and best friend, genuinely excited to try your café after reading such positive reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was anything but positive--and I left not only disappointed, but honestly, upset and angry. From the moment we arrived, the experience was chaotic. The line was confusing--no clear start or end--and no staff present to offer guidance. Still, we were patient and got in line, reading over the menu we had been looking forward to. As we approached the counter, I noticed a poster advertising a salted caramel drink. I ordered a small iced salted caramel latte, only to have the girl taking our order turn around and ask another employee if it was available. The second girl replied "no," and the first turned back to me with an annoyed, almost disgusted expression and snapped, "No." No apology, no alternative offered--just attitude. Then she gave me a nasty glare. Trying to salvage the moment, I ordered a small caramel latte with oat milk. While ordering, I politely asked how many shots come in a small latte--she ignored me. Once she was done and asked for payment, I asked again. She mumbled "two," clearly irritated, so I requested an extra shot to make it three. She added it, still glaring. We paid--despite the cold, rude demeanor--and waited. When I was handed my drink, I could tell immediately it was wrong. The color was far too light. One sip confirmed it: it was disgusting. There was no caramel flavor, it clearly wasn't oat milk, and it barely had any ice. It tasted like someone had made it with indifference and no care at all. I went back inside to kindly address the issue--but the moment I stepped in, I was met with more glares. Not one person acknowledged me. One of the girls was wearing pajama pants--which is shockingly unprofessional--and the one who had taken my order had a very visible hickey on her neck. Again: not professional. I stood by the counter, hoping someone would give me the courtesy of a few seconds to fix the mistake. But all three girls walked by me--multiple times--without a single word. Just more glares. I stood there for 5 minutes and not one of them bothered to ask if I needed help. I was in a rush and had no choice but to leave--with a $7 coffee I couldn't drink and ended up throwing away. But honestly, the worst part wasn't the wasted money--it was the way I was treated. I have never felt so unwelcome in a business. The staff looked annoyed to be there, acted like customers were a burden, and made zero effort to offer even basic customer service. This wasn't just bad service--it was disrespectful. I'm beyond disappointed and genuinely upset with how I was treated. No one should leave a coffee shop feeling this unwelcome, disrespected, and frustrated. You've lost a customer today--and I hope this message prompts some serious reflection and accountability. read more

This place is AWESOME. We make a point of stopping in most times we are in town. I went again yesterday and for the first time since I've been coming here, the line was out the door. Sigh. I was very impressed how quickly the girls were able to move through the queue. Even more impressive was how friendly the person who took my order was despite how shitty I'm sure it was dealing with all of those fuckers all morning. One of my favorite coffee chains. Good alternative to Dunks, and they have a ton of flavors. They also have a variety of other drinks besides coffee, like smoothies, energy refreshers, and frozen drinks. Not too sure about the food here, I tried the hashbrowns and they were very mushy and tasted weird. I'll stick to the drinks. Most locations have a drive thru as well! read more

My experience here for the first time was nothing but unpleasant. I arrived early afternoon and it was not busy. I was not greeted as I entered the empty establishment due to the fact that the employees were fully developed into an unimportant gossip conversation. I waited about 5 minutes for them to finish their conversation, still with no greeting or assistance with the menu. I decided to order a pistachio iced coffee and was unsure with the way they crafted their coffee. I was under the impression that the drink already comes with milk. I was unaware that it was a "build your own" coffee. It would be more clear if the menu was more informative. As a result, I ended up with a straight black coffee with pistachio flavoring. I saw a sign that had a marshmallow topping so I added that under the impression that it was a cold foam of some sort. Turned out it was just thick marshmallow fluff that the barista couldn't even get off of the spoon, which in turn doesn't melt with an iced drink. As a result, I ended up with a bitter pistachio flavored coffee that ended up going to waste. I expected the employee to be more helpful and insightful but instead got a weird attitude. read more

As a non-New Englander myself I was clearly uneducated about Marylou's. Everyone told me I HAD to try it, so I took their word and did so. Well, I don't understand the hype because the drink I received (mint mocha iced coffee of some sort?) tasted essentially like watered down instant coffee with mint mouthwash. Basically undrinkable. Their menu is also bizarre, so it took me a moment to figure out what to order while the staff stared at me like I was a moron for not knowing what a "funky fanabla" was That leads to my next point. Their staff also was visibly irritated by any customer walking in the door and were far too busy discussing their weekend plans. Maybe it was just a bad day, I understand how it can be in any food service job, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. We stopped by Marylou's on our way home from the Cape. This location was a bit small (but maybe they all are?) and has the same retro pink decor like the other locations. The girl working was sweet and waited for us to make out decisions. We ended up getting a Minty Lou, Twix and Vanilla Hazelnut. The Minty Lou tasted like a thin mint and the Twix was spot on. The Vanilla Hazelnut was okay but was lacking something. I should have gotten my usual Minty Lou. As a side note, personally I think the pink straws are a nice touch! I would recommend Marylou's if it's on your way and you enjoy sweet iced coffees as they have the best selection. read more

This particular review is solely based off of my trip to the Mary Lou's location on Iyannough Rd in Hyannis. As a N.Y. resident, I only get to enjoy Mary Lou's when I am in town- so I really look forward to it. Sadly I was very disappointed just now, as we stopped to grab our last treat of our trip. I had been looking forward to a delicious Mocha FrostyLou to enjoy on the way home. I love Mary Lou's so much that my friends and I have talked about opening a franchise in NY! This location, cleanliness and restrooms were all fine. But either something must be off with their blender and/or coffee bean grinder -or- perhaps the person who made our drinks did not have the proper training. Unfortunately, I did not notice until we had already left, that the chunks/crunchies in my drink were not bits of ice or mocha. They were pieces of coffee beans. I get this drink every time I have been near a Mary Lou's over the years. Granted, it could have been worse, but I am disappointed :( read more

I was so excited to see a real-life Marylou's!! After years of seeing their cheese-tastic commercials I stumbled across "the best coffee in town" on my way out of Hyannis this morning. Very cute place (I happen to love black and pink!) with lots of different flavored coffees as well as a bunch of specialty frozen drinks. The gal -in all pink- behind the counter suggested their famous "Frostylou" (strawberry, mocha, vanilla and coffee, frozen) but I opted for a hot hazelnut, extra light, no sugar... it was good, but it had a very heavy hazelnut flavor, almost overwhelming, and a bit artificial... Better than Dunkin's though... On a side note, I was happy to see a Starbucks at the rotary by the Bourne Bridge... Next time on my way off the Cape I'll probably wait the 20 minutes and pick up a coffee there before trekking it back to Boston... read more

I love my coffee. And since my fiancé lives on the Cape, this is one of the first places he made me try. Boy was I glad he did! The Twix iced coffee is by far my favorite (well... the only flavor I've tried!). I've tried this flavor at several of their locations and it is consistently good!!! Listen to what other reviewers say, make sure you get skim milk, no sugar and if you want whipped cream, just get a little bit (or else you'll be on sugar overload!). After me bragging about it, I made my parents try it on their visit there. They were disappointed with the regular brew of coffee and were disappointed by the lack of variety of treats to go with the coffee. All I know is that every time I go to the Cape I go out of my way to get a treat coffee from here. And that's what I view it as, a dessert coffee. If I lived close by and drank this every day I would be in big trouble!! I recommend trying it for yourself and see the gals in pink! read more

First time at Mary Lou's. I got the small Twix with a splash of almond milk per the suggestion of the super nice girl at the counter. It was SO GOOD! Sweet, but not overly sweet, and only 37 calories for a small (black). It was perfect for someone like me who usually drinks their coffee black. The staff WAS really friendly. Everything's pink, nothing against pink but it's really pink in there. Delicious delicious flavors and beyond the standard fare you find pretty much everywhere. Nutty Irishman? Heck yeah! Gourmet, Specialty and Super Specialty. There's a nice big menu and lots of options, but sometimes when you find something so perfect, you just stick with it. My visit to Marylou's was just "ok". When I arrived I wasn't greeted and was unfamiliar with the menu so I had to look it over. The staff didn't seem to notice me there as they were busy doing other things. I got a young woman's attention and ordered tea, which is not fresh brewed but just a bag dipped in water. I should have known from the hot pink awning and the 'best of coffee in town' advertising once I pulled into the parking lot that I was not going to be in for a great coffee experience. First, they do your sugar and milk for you which is always a minus for me. Second, the taste of their regular coffee was not good. My initial reaction was 'I should have just gone to Dunkin Donuts.' On the bright side, the service was as bright and friendly as the hot pink awning outside. A friend and I were on our way up to Boston after hanging out in Cape Cod the day before, and we read the amazing reviews for Marylou's on yelp. Pulled up, admired the excessive pink, and walked in expecting to find some cute girls behind the counter, waiting to offer great customer service and delicious coffee. Not the case. The girls are young, whiny girls that think they are hot shit. They weren't at all helpful in suggesting coffee flavors and they didn't let us know about the price specials they were having that day until after we already paid. Also, they either gave me the wrong coffee, or did not know how to make white chocolate coffee, it tasted like berries, it was weird. The drinks were also inconsistent in taste. My friend ordered a mint coffee, which was only slightly minty, and when I got my berry drink replaced, I ordered a mint coffee as well which was pretty darn minty.
