Delicious food with friendly people. A friend recommended the cinnamon rolls and they were right. They were rich and yeasty with nice spices. They also leave off the frosting so that you can get them plain or smothered! We also tried their wonderful crusty baugettes and their bagels. So glad a friend introduced me to this local's spot. The turkey sandwiches - classic and the Mountain (something) were outstanding. Roasted turkey on great french bread. The mountain version included a spicy mayo (excellent!), avocado and sundried tomatoes. I finished with the thumbprint cookies - raspberry or apricot filled. The best thumbprint cookies I've ever had. I'll be writing to Bon Apetit to see if they can get the recipe. I preferred the smaller thumbprint cookies over the large ones - yes, I tried both! Oops, the large one....actually scones. I was told to go to Schat's - I did but I favor Great Basin. Will be stopping here again (and again!) on future trips to Bridgeport! read more

i work across the street which isnt always a good thing when you are watching your weight! But i am very good at refraining. Truth be told, i love it all. I am a regular customer and i cannot live without their coffee. My latest favorite (there are many) is the Almond, spice scones! wow! my eyes roll back in my head when i take a bite! And if you want a real treat please try their fresh and fabulous soups! Served with bread, its out of this world. I love the people that work there and it's welcoming, easy going atmosphere. We bought a mini cinnamon roll and apricot scone. Both were excellent, the scone was light and the apricot on top was yummy. The mini cinnamon roll with the cream cheese frosting was equally as good. Great place to stop for a light breakfast. The bagels looked really good as did everything else in the store. The people working were friendly and helpful. In town for Mule Days and have eaten here 3 times already. Used to go to Shatz. Mushroom Brie soup.....oh baby. Everything bagel, apricot scone, spinach artichoke feta croissant all to come back for. Simple local atmosphere, right across street from antique store. read more

The cinnamon rolls and blueberry muffins were dry and overcooked. For $2.50/muffin, I'd expect/hope for something pretty delicious. The blueberries were dry, and the muffin itself was not moist at all. The cinnamon roll had to be cut with a (plastic) knife, and it required some effort. Additionally, the icing wasn't even melted over the cinnamon roll...it was in a big cold lump on top. Maybe throw it in the microwave for a few seconds? No wait, then it'd be a brick. I've had better cinnamon rolls from a can, and I bought better blueberry muffins at a grocery store down the street the next day. Based on what we had, it didn't seem like they take much pride in what they baked. If I eat at a place that specializes only in baked goods, I shouldn't be able to buy cheaper/tastier baked goods in a can or at a grocery store. read more

A great small bakery. These folks are really on it. Good quality bread, pastries, cookies and breakfast/lunch items. Show up early as they sell out of many items most days. This is where the locals go. Well staffed. Tables to eat inside and outside. Parking is limited, try the side streets off this street. They are doing a great job. Support the little guys! read more

Best bakery in town. I'd go here any day of the week over Schat's. The flatlanders go to Schat's, the locals come here.

This is where the locals go. If you want shortening laden baked goods, go to Schatt's. Great Basin uses quality ingredients to bake up their treats. I suggest you just go in and check out all those yummy offerings. I like to sit down with a cup of their wonderful Black Sheep coffee and enjoy my treat using dishes not paper plates and cups. read more

I can't say enough about this amazing bakery!!! I visit bishop often (a couple times a month) and one of my favorite parts of coming is that I get to treat myself at this bakery. Their bagels and pastries are unmatched, and every time I introduce a visiting friend or family member to this bakery I end up getting orders placed for me to bring goods back home. I'm from a relatively big city with plenty of bakeries, but never have I ever been this blown away by one. I love bringing people here because they start off kind of skeptical at my unending excitement for this place and then end up feeling the same way I do about it. Beyond the fact that EVERYTHING I've tried is absolutely fantastic, the genuine smiles and friendliness of the staff and the great prices just round everything out. I cannot get enough of this bakery. If you don't have time to stop on your way in or out...make time! You'll be happy you did :) read more
