Still a five star coffee shop. We make a point to stop by here whenever traveling northbound on the 395 from the Los Angeles area. There is some street parking and also a dirt lot just a bit south of the store. They also have a clean gender neutral restroom for customers. The staff are always friendly even when they have a full house. The full house is a testament to the wonderful espressos and food offerings. I can tell Brewed Awakening is both a local favorite as well as the road trip tourists. I usually order a oatmilk latte and an iced coffee with whipped cream for my husband. We love their coffee. We have ordered food as well but this time we were just in need of coffee. Do yourself a favor and pay Brewed Awakening a visit some time soon! read more

Dear Chasity, I don't generally write reviews, but since you took it upon yourself to respond immediately to my friend's review earlier this morning, I am posting this now. I was in for a "rude awakening" upon visiting your establishment this morning. In brief, my friends and I (a group of 4) waited over 30 minutes for overpriced coffee and microwaved food. I will preface this review by stating that I understand that this is a small business and that we were there on a Saturday morning. That said, I worked in the food service industry for years, including as a server, barista, and bartender. You can be busy and still pay attention to ticket times. These things are not mutually exclusive. We were on a five hour drive through the state, and stumbled upon your establishment looking for a place to grab a quick coffee and bite to eat -- our bad. My boyfriend ordered an iced drink. We confirmed twice that it was to be prepared iced. When we finally received our drinks, 20 minutes later, his was incorrectly prepared hot. I attempted to order a crunch wrap and was informed that you were sold out. Moments later, another customer picked up a carryout crunch wrap. This was disappointing. A couple people in our group ordered biscuits and gravy with bacon. The bacon is equivalent to bacon bits out of a bag. Another person ordered a bagel and opted to add poached eggs. The eggs were not poached; they were microwaved. To add to the chaos, your young nephew pranced back into the kitchen and prep area (a health code violation & safety concern, as well as generally poor etiquette), and your barista prioritized making him a special beverage over tending to your paying customers. The worst part of all, you responded defensively to my friend's review merely one hour after my friend had posted it. Instead of clapping back at your paying customers, you should be doing something to remedy the situation, such as offering an apology and refund. Also, perhaps you should invest in a second microwave if one isn't sufficient. read more

Great coffee AND gluten free food options?! Suh-woon! The gals working here have fun banter and are super friendly. GF and regular breakfast items galore! My bf loved his burrito better than the biscuit (the biscuit needed something else but was so good), but both were yummy. This is a nice place to stop if traveling through Big Pine. They will treat you well and the drinks are pretty good! They have a food menu and you can watch them make it for you from pretty much any place in the FOH. The staff are friendly and take their time to make sure your order is right. Very cute little bakery with homemade cinnamon rolls and order items. Women and family owned, very friendly. They did have some vegan options including a bagel with guac and veggies. Very tasty. I stopped here on Monday for the first time and was so impressed. I got a dirty chai (super freaking delicious) for the road and a breakfast burrito, as well as two salads to have for lunch later in the week. I just finished eating the Nutty Veggie salad and without any exaggeration, that is hands down the best salad I have ever had in my life. My expectations were a little low since I got it two days ago and had to drive 150+ miles back to my destination, but it was still as fresh as ever! I am going to be dreaming about this salad for the rest of my life. This place will definitely be a permanent stop for me every time I drive the 395. Had a wonderful experience here as we made our way into Inyo for some backpacking with friends. We were greeted as we entered the shop. The menu was inviting: a wide range of coffee & tea drinks along with sandwiches, salads, wraps, etc. We ordered a sandwich that was so delicious and fresh. It has bitch'n sauce in it & we love that stuff! Also the chopped salad was exactly what I needed. It was fresh and shareable. The desserts were tasty! Everyone loved the blueberry cheesecake bar (maybe it was raspberry--either way demolished) we loved the sarcasm from the women helping us out, everything was really lovely. It was a bit flavorless but after looking back I realized it did not have there chipotle sauce on it, which would explain a lot. The service was friendly and defiantly has a local feel to it. Really loved the whole vibe of this place really cute inside! The Daughter who is an owner was super sweet and welcoming with a very much motherly love kind of vibe. The breakfast burrito was more than enough for me and my boyfriend! Easily could split or eat the whole thing depending on how hungry you are and they came out immediately. We planned to have breakfast in Bishop on our way home from mammoth but even on a Monday (10am in June) it our option #1 was way too crowded and option #2 was closed. So, as I drove South, my wife yelped and found Brewed awakening 15 min down the road in Big Pine. What a great find!. Tiny place, 3 customers, nice cool A/C and background music, plenty of clean, open tables, pleasant server/cook. Small but effective menu. They had a picture of a jazzed up stuffed bagel but it wasn't on the menu--no problem. My meat choice was sausage, wife's was bacon. Also inside the bagel: egg, cheese, hash brown (but not too much), and just the right amount of aioli sauce to give a wonderful but not too spicy flavor. The bagel was super fresh (cooked to order) and the prices were 25-50% less than Bishop or Mammoth. This will become our go to breakfast when heading South out of Mammoth. read more

Heading up to 395 I felt a gnawing hunger and found this place on Yelp. Phoned in an order and found the bagel and latte ready when we pulled up 10 minutes later. Turns out to be a cute little place with plenty of indoor seating and a potbelly stove to keep you cozy. They intentionally put "joke" sign, "men on the left, women are right" above their unisex bathroom and say it's funny when men customers look for their bathroom to the left of the unisex bathroom and go outside. When told that it's not funny to confuse people who need to pee and that men are hesitant to enter the unisex bathroom since it might by the women they were... not receptive. read more

I needed a new tire and was referred to Perez tires down the street. I was advised by to hang out over here while I wait for my tire to get fixed. Soo happy that we did. I have driven past this place for a couple of years. It is clean, it is quick and the food is good. The decor is adorable, the music is fun and the people behind the counter are great. Truly a treat in this little town. Yes Bishop is bigger but try it- stop. Smoothies- Coffee. Salads to A really good Cinnamon Roll (not dry at all). She was very rude to us when we ordered a cappuccino and she heard coffee with milk. I told her we ordered a cappuccino and she said very loud for everyone to hear "then I need to hear you say loud cappuccino". Then she tells the next customers to wait to order. Went there before Big Pine Lakes hike on July 19'th, 2025. Brewed Awakening was the only real coffee shop open in Big Pine that early in the morning. Lovely ambient, cute vibes and surprisingly fantastic coffee! So glad we didn't have to start such an amazing hike with gas station coffee (imagine that!). About the service: long story short (aside the great coffee), I left my new gloves in the bathroom. Called them and realized I would not be back before they close. I lost signal and was not able to reach them again in order to coordinate anything. Next stop was mammoth and I wrote off my brand new cool hiking gloves. Lo and behold, Shelly (one of the owners) leaves a voice message for me (which I received when I arrived at Roseville, CA. So yes, far too late! Thanks ATT), ensuring me that she will make sure I receive my gloves. I forgot all about it and she caught me AGAIN and asked for my address and made sure I received them. Now THAT my mountain friends, is what we call "GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND"!!!!!!!!!! I would give 11 stars out of 10, but unfortunately we go by 5 stars only.
