Tulip Wings with sweet chili sauce

Stopped by on our way to mammoth and so glad we did. Delicious food, good service. The wings were huge, juicy, crispy and full of flavor as was the burger, cooked to perfection. They have a stage where they have live music too bad we didn't get to experience it. Very clean restaurant.

Food is great but a bit on the fatty side. I ordered the Walker Texas Ranger burger and a fountain drink. The burger had an excellent, super-crunchy bun, and it stayed firm and didn't get soggy. It tasted homemade, but it was definitely a little too fatty for me. The patty was well-seasoned and juicy, and the other components were good, though I wasn't a big fan of the sauce--it was a bit too salty. The fries were amazing--really crunchy and well-seasoned. Service was good, and the ambiance was nice overall.

Impressive they use sunflower or rice oil..

9/30/2025- Popped in for a small quick lunch.. Perfect timing as they just opened. Very impressed with the two different kinds of oils they use.. Went with the half turkey and it was really good- I liked the shredded turkey.. Also got the small burger and fries.. plenty of fries to share.. I'd be consider getting the rotisserie chicken dinner next time..

Shot Gun Burger & beer battered fries + ranch

While on a camping road trip, we decided to stop in town for a burger and beer since we've never explored downtown Bishop before. Aaron Schat's Roadhouse came up as the best suggestion and it did not disappoint! It was only 11am but we started with 2 pints of Coor's lol. Then we ordered 2 Shot Gun burgers and beer battered fries. They were so delicious! The burger patty was freshly made and the bun was a cheese type bun from their bakery. The fries were so crispy. 1 basket of fries would have been enough to share but we ordered 2 not knowing and force fed ourselves to finish it all lol. We will definitely add this to our bishop stop on future trips!

Not consistent. I ordered a burger and fries during the lunch hour and the food was so good. The meat was moist, the fries had a good crunch to them. The bun was soft. It was very good. Another time, I ordered a burger and fries during dinner and it was not good. The burger had a hard bun, the meat was dry and over cooked, and the fries tasted like they were over cooked in very old oil. They tasted gross lile you're eating oil. I went from a pleasant experience to a bad experience. It wasn't consistent. For $20, I expect the food to be good. I probably won't return because that last burger I had was just so bad. Maybe I got unlucky because that first burger was tasty.

Very good burger, clean, great environment. If you're in Bishop I would recommend eating here. People were nice and the food came quick. I will be back when I'm in town.

Bluey Armstrong with Garlic Parmesan Fries Basket

Stopped in for a late lunch after a grueling hike so suffice to say - we were starving. The restaurant is set up cafeteria style where you order at the counter and can take the number to your chosen table. I was impressed with how fast the service was. There was a bit of a rush when we got there but hardly had to wait for our meals. I got the Bluey Armstrong burger with an impossible patty. It was pretty epic. The grilled onions were cooked to utterly perfection. The blue cheese was potent. I got a side of the garlic parmesan fries. Ample toppings. The fries had a really nice crisp to them. I will say that overall this was a saltier meal than I normally prefer but given the context this hit hard. Definitely recommend if in the mood for a good burger and fries!

Every time we come to this area, we look forward to stopping at Aaron Schat's and fill our tummies with delicious and hearty food. Milkshakes are awesome. Real milkshake, not a fake one like big golden-arch place. And it comes in 16oz beer glass, filled to the top. My healthy fish sandwich was out of this world. Fresh salad, hunk of sprouts, tasty Tuna all sandwiched between fresh slice of breads. Every bite was heaven. I ordered full, but it was huge. Even though I was very hungry after 10 mile hike, I still needed to take half of the sandwich home. And do choose the side potato salad! I can't write enough about this place. You'll see the line could be out of the door sometimes but there's a reason for that! Good casual setting, AC blasting when outside it 106F, so thank you!

BOMB! The cashier was so chill and answered my questions. Loved the atmosphere too, they have cool maps on the tables. Def coming back

hot & spicy wings - soo juicy & saucy

We have always seen this restaurant on the way to Mammoth but never stopped by until tonight & boy are we glad we did! Was craving wings & fries & saw this place showed up as a recommendation & was closeby. Parking is very spacious they have their own lot. Lots of seating in the restaurant too. You go to the cashier counter first to place your order & pay. They have copies of their menu up front to look over. Then they give you your order number to place on your table. We ordered sides of sweet potato fries, & the garlic parmesan fries to go alongside our 12 pc hot & spicy wings (buffalo wings basically). It was a Saturday night & they had a talented gentleman sing & play the guitar on stage. It set a great ambience while we enjoyed our meal. Loved seeing him interact with the audience. Our orders came out less than 15 minutes. Fountain drinks & waters are self serve. Our food came hot & the smell was amazing. You could smell the tanginess of the wings, & the garlic from the fries. Ranch is available upon request. The buffalo wings were the best I've had in awhile- they were juicy & generous with the sauce which I really enjoy personally because I hate dry wings. They gave us an equal amount of drumsticks & flats. The fries were crispy & not too oily. My favorite were the sweet potatoes! Even as a "side" size instead of the full basket it was more than enough for us - we ended up taking to go. I like how the to go boxes are placed right by the soda machine - it's efficient so we can grab what we need without waiting in line again or waiting to flag down a waiter. Overall, I had a great time & would love to try their other menu items, so I will be back!

Schat's Roadhouse is such a good place to go after a day of skiing. Our group of four ordered takeout around 3:30pm and we picked it all up around 10 minutes later, which I thought was extremely fast for how much food we all ordered (different sandwiches/burgers, fries, shakes). I ordered the bluey armstrong burger with a side of parmesan garlic fries and an oreo milkshake. The burger had a lot of blue cheese on it (yay!) and was medium rare, just like I wanted. They also use cheese rolls from Schat's Bakery as the bun! The side of parmesan fries was pretty large, and they did not skimp out on the parmesan and minced garlic! One person in the group ordered the fry basket, and as a note, there are more fries than you'd get in the basket versus as a side, but both portions are large. The shake was yummy too - a little melted, but the sheer amount of oreo chunks made it worth it. There is lots of seating too which is great for groups. I'll be back to enjoy the food and restaurant itself next time I'm in Mammoth/Bishop!

Best burger you will ever have imo!

I am a long time Bishop local. I can honestly say that the walker Texas Ranger burger is the best burger I've ever had. It's insanely delicious. I have to have it at least once a week lol. I'm sure the other burgers are great, but the walker is it for me. I'm told the other items are also excellent. Nice atmosphere. Try to avoid peak rush hours as there can be a long wait to get your order in.

Consistently delicious! I've been stopping here for years on our way to/from Mammoth. Prices have even stayed affordable which seems to be a rarity nowadays. Food is always ready fast!! Cute restaurant with ability to accommodate large groups. Also has a small stage for live music.

Food: When you first walk in, the impression you get with Schats is "Wow". And wowed you shall be because the whole store is absolutely stacked with breads, cookies, savory loaves, twists, cakes, pastries, and baked goods of all shapes, sizes, and flavorful persuasion. I came in prepared however, determined to try a half order each if their beef and turkey sandwiches, and decided to treat myself to some of the sweet baked goods from their extensive sweets section. While I was disappointed by the amount of meat on my sandwiches, I marveled at the flavor and textural cohesion unified in the simple sandwiches. What looks like a basic veggie-mayo-meat quickly becomes a homey culinary experience with the light and fluffy yet hearty sheepherder bread. Where you might expect an overwhelming mouthful of veg (thanks to the substantial sprouts), I'm met with a cohesive bite of delicate fresh flavors that meld together in a delightful sandwich. Safe to say, this is a sandwich sandwich. Not something stacked between bread, but a thoughtful creation that is greater than the sum of its parts. A true sandwich. The complimentary pickle spears and cookie that comes with your sandwich order is a perfect pairing, and I'd highly recommend these sandwiches if youve never tried them! I also got the Apple fritter, grandma cinnamon roll, old fashioned bar, and the apple strudel thing for my desserts to try (not at once). Each had a lovely texture. I disapprove of donuts that don't retain their moisture and texture, but Schats delivers on both marks especially for their old fashioned and Apple fritter donuts which retain a moist fluffy interior with the right amount of crisp. They are also not too heavy, a high mark in my book. The cinnamon roll was delightful with just the right amount of cinnamon and walnuts, the apple strudel thing was mildly disappointing however as the dough was overly dense and difficult to cut/bite into without squeezing out all the filling. Service: Schats staff are friendly, but this is an in and out institution. With the reputation it has, it's no surprise that things are structured to move quickly as there are a constant stream of customers flowing. Even so, staff are happy to answer questions and chat if they have a moment! They made me feel welcome despite being a clear tourist. Ambiance: Schats has a lovely charm to the interior and exterior. It is reminiscent of what I imagine a rustic German/european bakery would look and feel like, and dining at the outdoor seating or perusing the bakeries stacked displays and carts is a wonderfully charming experience. Highly recommend for a fun and lighthearted break that foodies, families, friends will love. Especially as you travel the 395! Overall 5/5 a perfect experience to add onto your 395 itinerary. Definitely do not miss the baked goodies and bread :)

The barbecue wasn't noticeably better than what we've had at the chain Dickey's BBQ which is disappointing given the reputation on here and the price we ended up paying. The brisket was pretty dry even during dinner time and had no bark really. Then the loaded baked potato was also a surprise. It came topped with a large amount of diced yellow onions instead of green onions which if you have ever been to Texas and had BBQ out you know it is much more common, so that was weird. Also the shredded cheese was simply slapped on and wasn't even melted making it feel unfinished. The only good thing was their bbq sauce and the mac and cheese. It was creamy and the best thing we ordered. Overall we left very disappointed. We expected a much more memorable experience. given the ratings since we chose to come here over Copper Top.
