I've been told that this is a must try donut shop on the way through Bishop. I love the small mom and pop donut shop feel. There were people eating at the tables and a line ordering their food/donuts. I appreciated that because the variety was on point! Donuts aren't my biggest craving, but when I saw the display of donuts, I wanted to try so many! We opted for just a few. -maple donut filled with Nutella (I know, WTH?! But honestly it was such a good pairing and sooooo good!) -extra maple glazed "8 donut" -Krueller donut hole (chilled and filled, yum!!!!) -cream puff that just looked so perfect and although I've never had one until now, it was light, airy, and perfectly sweet and delicious! A few years ago I used to live in Hawaii and a young man named Chino told me that the best donuts in the world were in Bishop California. Now that's hard to imagine because, well, it's Bishop California. This is the kind of place you're only in when driving up to mammoth. Yesterday I had the privilege of stopping by Hings and I got a matcha mochi donut and a regular glazed donut. Oh boy oh boy I was loving it. I was jumping up and down in this fine establishment. Been going here since the 90's so I know what to expect. The donuts are good considering there isn't really any competition in town. They are mids compared to other shops in larger areas. The service is always indifferent and borderline rude, but that is how it always has been if they don't know you personally. There seems to be a perpetual shortage of napkins and the place is always cluttered. Today pissed me off... The case was full of these massive beautiful croissants with one sad reject hiding in the back. It was clearly not egg washed and almost half the size of the 15 others on display. Rather than save that one for last she gave it to me and was just generally unpleasant. It was $7 for a stuffed croissant and basic glazed donut. I will be back but that's only because there is no where else for real donuts in town. read more

Almost always stop in here on the way the Mammoth. I like to drive you Mammoth over night so this place is usually just opening as I'm passing by. I'll grab a Starbucks next door and some donuts from here. The prices have definitely gone up significantly over the years, but I guess everywhere has. Pretty rural spot so the pickings are slim. I got a burrito and some donuts and spent like $12. The burrito wasn't really worth it. Either way, I'll probably still continue to stop by for donuts here whenever I'm passing through! read more

Yummy, fresh donuts! Go in the morning to get the best selection. We stopped in and picked up a (large!) buttermilk bar and two yeast raised donuts with sprinkles. Freshly made, crisp exterior and fluffy, tender insides. The buttermilk bar could have been two servings (but I ate the whole thing!) and it is available PLAIN, a plus for us, mildly sweet; also available with sugar glaze, chocolate and maple. Our three donuts, plus the friendly server generously filled my big travel mug with coffee for a surprisingly modest total, so we left a hefty tip. tried this local favorite ..... the apple fritter was very crunchy with chunks of apple and a sweet glaze. The interior was moist ...... I can see why this is so popular. I enjoyed the buttermilk bar ..... nice crispy outside with a moist inside. the rasberry jelly donut was fine but I preferred the cake donuts ..... good stop if you're a donut fan. Got a solid 4* for the maple bar from my 8 year old son and he's pretty picky haha. Hole in the wall, strip mall, local spot... these are all great terms describing the better donut shops. Damn! If yelp would let me stop there, I would, because that one word sums up the deliciousness that is Hing Donuts. My wife and I were on a road trip to Los Angeles with a couple friends a few years ago. We were rolling through Bishop at around 4am and we were hungry. We found a Starbucks that was open and next to it was a little donut shop. We decided to grab our coffees and then head next door to grab some donuts. One bite was all it took. I honestly have no clue what they put in their donuts or if they fry them a special way or whatever, but they're damn delicious. My favorites are the buttermilk, old fashion, and the donut holes. A little warning about the donut holes; once you start, you won't stop. I always get a dozen and a half with the full intention of saving some for later, but it never works out that way because they get devoured fairly quickly. I think they strike a cord with me because the shop reminds me of my childhood home's donut shop. I loved that place as a kid and the taste of Hing Donuts are very similar to that. If you find yourself in Bishop, grab yourself a donut at Hing's. You won't regret it! It's now a MUST stop anytime we're in the area. read more

Came here and got three chorizo burritos that were just ok. They charged $6.50 each and they were as small as a Taco Bell bean and cheese burrito. They also charge for salsa without telling you that there is a fee. Not worth it, I'll stick to the donuts if I come back. read more

I was with my brother and asked for some milk and went to sit down. He purchased the milk and i forgot to grab it for like 5 minutes. I went to go get it after my brother said that he paid for it and they told me he didn't even tho the receipt said otherwise. I didn't fight because it was like 3 bucks but it is still not right. I hate to be the downer and be the only one to give them 3 stars but personally, I don't enjoy their donuts because they are more of the cake textured donuts. Not for me but if I were a cake donut person, I'm sure they are really tasty! The donuts are a bit too dense. Nothing against their business or anything, just personal preference. We got their chocolate bar and the donut holes. My fiancé's brother got the cheese danishes and he loves them. Some lady behind us made a comment and said "you aren't taking all the good ones are you?" referring to the cheese danishes so they must be good. read more
