This place is poorly managed. they hire great people and they soon resign them because the managing of both the locations in jersey City are poor. Stop micro managing the hair professionals you hire and start allowing professionals to do what they have been trained to do which is hair cutting. Timing cuts should not have to be done in less than 15 minutes and people leave upset. If the hair stylist is with a client for more than 15 minutes they are harrassed by the unskilled manager. Great vibe, pleasant greeting and always check you're on their waiting list. The senior citizen rate has me coming back regularly and is much appreciated by someone on a fixed income. Issue: there is one gentleman cutter who has overwhelming cigarette odor on his fingers and body odor. His clothing might suggest someone homeless (pants are filthy and stained). It was the worst haircut experience of my life. I have straight hair and I showed photo of angled medium bob to the stylist. He himself said "oh medium bob" but when he it came to cutting he made it a blunt cut and for the volume at the back he cut the front hair short and back hair long which should be the other way around. When I told him it's not correcut he said your hair is not straight so this haircut is not possible. I have the same cut for past 4 years and being Asian my hair is straight as scale. When I asked the manager to politely correct it. She refused and asked for money. This incident happened on Christmas Eve and I had to literally walk out of the salon with messed up and uneven hair. read more

Great price, Great Cut~ I have been going to my same awesome barber for years who is always booked weeks ahead. After raising their prices to $50 (+ a tip), this senior on a limited income was looking for less of a dent in my wallet. Of course, I didn't expect perfection (you get what you pay for), but this was one of the best haircuts I have gotten by a place that only worked on my head for the first time! Not only is the $20 price a steal ($18 for seniors!), but to me, a good cut also reveals itself when it grows in the first week or so and still looks great. I WILL be back! read more

I've been looking for a fair hair salon and an educated and talented stylist in Jersey City for a long time, and wow, I finally found one! I'be passed by many times, and finally decided to walk in. I was paired with an amazing stylist! A tall, skinny lady with beautiful red hair! I spoke with her about the specifics that I wanted, and I asked for her suggestions as well. She listened to me, she was so well aware and educated about textures, cuts and styles. By the time she was done with me and asked me to look in the mirror, I was shocked. I was so happy that I had tears in my eyes. Such great customer service that I even had my husband go see her. He is picky and boy was he impressed! Super rude staff ! Worst experience at this location. Staff name - Lavickie. Never cut your hair here and specially from Lavickie. She is the most arrogant person ever. I am regular here for hair cuts and I got satisfactory hair cuts up until now. However today, I went in for a haircut and showed them the photo of the haircut I wanted and the person started cutting my hair. In the process, I requested her that I wanna be careful of my hair in one particular area as a guideline and here were her responses- 1. The photo you showed me was a $45 haircut and not an $18. 2. I know my way around hair and you seem to be more engrossed in this haircut than I am. 3. Why don't you let me do what I do and i know I'm doing a good job. And towards the end, when I present you a haircut, tell me if you like it or not. This was uncalled for for just one request I made. I told her that if I want something a certain way, can't I say anything about it when I'm paying for my haircut? And to which she started saying that she is the stylist and she would know what to do better. She then left my haircut in the middle and went to the room saying 'I am taking a break'. All that time, I was just sitting on the chair with the cape on. This is such an unprofessional behavior!! I did not want to pay but while I was leaving, they made me stop and pay and she again uttered shitty words like 'Go talk to your momma like that' and 'you just don't want to pay you freebie' I have never imagined this kind of service from a place which carries 'Great clips' as a name. Having Judy as a barber turned my day around. Aside from being genuinely warm and welcoming, she put the thought and care into cutting my hair and trimming my beard that some sculptors don't put into their masterpieces. I had a haircut by one of the male hairdressers that can only be compared to a toddler yielding scissors. I asked for bangs "just at my eyebrow" that were instead a full inch above and uneven. The sides were uneven with no shape. It was staggeringly bad--the worst I've even seen. They gave me my money back but I have to live with this horror until it grows out. I haven't been to get my hair cut by a stylist in about a year and my hair was getting really dry, brittle, and damaged. My stylist had to cut it shorter than I like to have it, but I'm thankful she did because I needed my split ends cut off. I actually like the length it is now since she cut it to fit my face shape!!!
