I just had a great haircut at Great Clips in Kenmore. I was a walk in and Sun did my hair. She cut my hair exactly as I asked her to--did not layer it or take off a lot of length. This is the first time in a very long time that I've left a salon happy! My hair is tricky to cut as it's on the longish side, thick, and wavy. I would highly recommend Sun, a very pleasant and patient young woman, and I'll be returning to her for my next hair cut. read more

I wish that I could give zero stars. I was harrassed and almost purposefully ran into in the parking lot by Lavida. She then proceeded to roll down the window and shout profanities at me with my three children under 4 in the car. I am still shaking. I waiting to calm down and saw her park and go into her work. And she again told me to " learn how to drive bitch". We are in a parking lot and she almost runs into me on purpose and then yells at me? My husband went in to talk to the manager. I was going to nearby safeway with my wife and 3 kids when an employee of this establishment cussed out my wife and had a fit of road rage in front of my three young children. We were in a slow moving parking lot and I guess Lavida the employee was in too much of a hurry. I talked to the manager Nikki and she dismissed me like I was a nuisance. I guess this type of thing is acceptable in that workplace. I will contacting corporate and let them know this location is representing their brand in this manner. What a shame read more

I got Tammy and she took a quick look at my picture and just started cutting, no further questions. I tried to clarify what I wanted and guide her before she ruined it, but she had her own ideas. Luckily I got her to fix the back ("mens cuts don't automatically involve clippers" she said as she grabbed the back of my head in frustration). The front of my hair is awful and uneven, the cowlick is not well managed, my part is not clearly defined, and I just generally did not have a good experience. This is a follow-up review. I've had my most recent hair cuts from Nikki and have been very happy with the results. She is super friendly and knew right away the kind of cut I wanted. I tip her well for getting it right. My worst haircuts at same location were last August and October when I got terrible whack jobs. I wrote a 1 star review at that time. Thankfully those "stylists" are no longer there. I do online check-ins and will request Nikki from now on. read more

I would give this business 0 stars if I could. My husband came in for a hair cut and they completely butchered his hair. Left chucks missing from the hair line etc. we called about this experience and they told us "that's not the hair cut we let leave our salon" clearly he didn't take a razor to his own hair. They said they would have to get approval from the general manager to issue a refund and I told them to call me when this was done. Called back several days later and got the response that they "don't issue refunds on cards". After explaining the situation I was told again they would need approval and would have to inspect that the hair cut was truly done poorly. They do not stand by their work or their license to cut hair responsibly. DO NOT come to this place to save a couple bucks, you will be very disappointed. read more

I have been using Great Clips as a "splurge" to have someone wash my long, thick hair. The gals have always put my hair in a braid after since I do not use a hair dryer. I have only been charged the "shampoo" price (currently $7.00) and I would tip that amount. Up until today, this "salon" would have rated five stars; however I was told by the "stylist" she would have to charge me the $35.00 styling fee for taking 3 minutes to put my wet hair in a braid. Needless to say, my hair is still dirty. This probably was the last time I utilize this store. read more

My husband and I brought our 2 yr old into the Kenmore Great Clips (next to Safeway) for a haircut on a Sunday afternoon (right about nap time). We had paid a 'kid's cut' place over 30 dollars to cut his hair and it was nothing like I asked. Very disappointing. Sylvia greeted us and helped us right away! I explained to her what I didn't like about his hair, and showed her a picture and she cut his hair PERFECTLY! Even through the crying and whinning she had a smile on her face, assuring me it was fine and kept on cutting. She was great and we will be going back just because of her! We live in Kenmore and we went as a family for haircuts. My son had a haircut 4 days ago and we were not so happy. This is the only reason for not giving a 5 star. His hair behaves differently when it dries. When we went a second time, Mara immediately understood what to do and explained what she was going to try and explained that it may not sit that way unless we style it. She fixed the haircut and patiently explained to my son what to do to style it. She also thinned his hair so that it would sit well. Meanwhile my daughter's hair was being cut by (I forgot, sorry) who did a great job confirming the length of hair to be cut and showed where it would fall on her shoulders and also explained how to reduce the hair becoming voluminous after it dries. My daughter was very happy with her haircut and also teh advice she got. My husband got a haircut with Sarah who is super friendly and checked with him on each decision. My husband was also happy with his haircut. All in all, we were happy with the service and how professional the ladies were. read more

Wow, a lot of negative review for this store. I have been coming here for several years and it has always been okay. Nothing exceptional, and some of the hairdressers are a little rough around the edges, but that is what I expect from a discount hair cutting place. But my hair always looked fine when I left, including when I had it cut a couple of days ago. But I want to give a shout out to the women who cut my hair this time. Her name was Raven and I believe she was new to the store. She was friendly and outgoing and I enjoyed talking with her. She did a great job on my hair and seemed to really take pride in the quality of her work. Hopefully I will get her again next time but if not I am sure I will still get the good basic haircut I always get from this place. read more

I've been a Kenmore Great Clips customer for over EIGHT years. Every stylist I've had has been both fast & efficient, including my most recent one, Christina. Great haircuts for only $18.00 (or was it $16?). Their near-by competitor, "Sport Clips" is just awful. Really. They lure you in with enticing coupons, sports T.V., sure - - but once the honeymoon is OVER, they get more expensive: $10 more expensive than GREAT CLIPS! Both of my visits to the sports scammers resulted in seeing my hair exactly the opposite of what I asked for. They give one-size-fits-all, horrible haircuts: quick-quick-quick clippers, but all of their "styles" are the same: severe & careless. Kenmore's GREAT CLIPS? Please do not go here if you have curly or thick hair. My stylist decided it would be a great idea to try to brush out my hair and afterwards, took a spray bottle to my hair, which is very thick and very curly, instead of properly getting it wet. Never mind the fact I had to point out that my hair wasn't evenly cut at the end and I made her recheck it. This salon was obviously meant for men, or women with very fine, straight hair, and you definitely get what you pay for. read more

We were in town visiting my mom in Kenmore, and my son (5yo) needed a haircut badly. Annamae (I think) cut his hair and she did the best job. Not only that, she was so nice to him. He was really nervous about going to a new place and was really resistant at first. She sat down, spent the time to talk to him first to get him comfortable before bringing him back to her chair. We've been getting comments about his hair from everyone. We live in Los Angeles and you would think with all of the expensive hipster places around here we go to, we wouldn't be so impressed with Great Clips. Went in there today and everybody I knew was gone, replaced by cheaper immigrant labor. My cut was done by a fascinating woman from Haiti. I don't think the barber even know how to do the hair cut at this place. The come out from their hair cut looks different from others, much worse. Their cut with clip size 4 is much shorter, look like military style. And if you use family phone number as look up there, your brother's style would apply to you. I'll avoid this shop. read more

This place has been sliding steadily downhill for some time. First the young, hip hairdressers were replaced with employees who were less young (and presumably paid less), and that was disconcerting but the employees were still competent. Tonight, however, I walked into a potentially terrible experience. The employee greeted me in a less than courteous way, leaning lazily against her stall partition and mumbling; she did not want to provide service unless I had checked in online (which I did), she complained that it had only been a week since I had come in last (which is none of her business), and when I asked for a short haircut she scoffed and said "well whaddaya mean, short?" Forgiving for the moment that short side cuts are in right now, a person who is unable to correlate the word "short" with a men's haircut all on her own is not what we would consider to be a qualified hairdresser.
