He said it was just soot and someone from the office would contact me to reschedule because he would not be returning. After waiting all afternoon, I texted a 2nd number the company had contacted me from and said I had safety concerns about our fireplace not being clean, but I received no response. I sent another text next day with no response. I contacted them several times through our Yelp messaging over the next couple of days, stating safety concerns and not being able to use the fireplace until we spoke with them, contacted them through their website form, and also left two courteous voicemail messages for their office letting them know we had safety concerns and asked for assistance. I had zero response to all of my efforts. I emailed and let them know I would be filing a complaint with the BBB and still received no response. I hired another company to come clean the fireplace and not only did he clean out a massive amount of soot and creosote left behind, he was stunned to find that the prior serviceman left his plastic brush and pole stuck up in the chimney. He gave it to me and I identified it as the brush the 1st Choice serviceman was using, as it was distinctive and particularly flimsy, which I noticed at the beginning of the clean. Things happen and if he had explained that his pole broke off and that he would have to come back with tools to get it out and finish cleaning, we could have moved forward. The basis for liability under negligence stems from an individual's failures to behave with the level of care that someone of ordinary prudence would have exercised under the same circumstances. He knowingly put our home and our personal safety at risk with a smoke and fire hazard, and that is egregious. It took months to settle our claim with our credit card company and get our money back. I've had time to consider my review and to post the facts without heightened emotion. Not cleaning the fireplace well and not returning calls for assistance is enough for a bad review but purposeful negligence is grounds for not being allowed to do business in this industry. The business office of this company has no excuse for failure to respond.

He refused to listen to my concerns and request for repairs. He then left the jobsite on 12/02 and did not return. He refused to finish the work correctly and refused to refund any of my deposit. I am now out cost in labor and extra cost in flooring that I will have to replace. He is also refusing to pay his employees, and leaving my home unliveable. If someone recommends this guy RUN the other way. He does not care nor does he back his work or respect the homeowners property. My friend, who was there in my place (since I'm stationed in Korea), made it clear that painting was required, yet they claimed she said the tenant would handle it--something that doesn't make sense given the house had to be ready before anyone moved in. To make matters worse, my realtor, someone I trust, visited the house and confirmed that the work was not completed properly. She even called the company to explain that the house needed to be finished, but they continued to disrespect me by dismissing my concerns. My friend had to purchase their own equipment to finish the work that was supposed to be done. What was supposed to be completed on Friday dragged on the whole weekend, and it's still not finished as of March 23rd. I asked for this job to be done before the 16th, and I'm still waiting. They claimed I wasn't overcharged, but the work they did was so poor that I could have done it myself for free. I'm now dealing with more stress than if I had handled everything myself. I will be attaching photos to warn future clients about this company. As a military member stationed abroad, I trusted them to handle the job, and they failed miserably. They demanded full payment before the job was done and now are blaming me. My house is still incomplete, and despite having cameras and a friend checking in, they continue to drop the ball. Also to point out to the general public that not all smudges can be wiped off without removing paint...which isn't a cleaners job. Dusting doesn't include dusting and then deep scrubbing with wet rags. Wiping down walls doesn't mean wiping down walls and then having to use a mop and bucket to deep scrub the food splatters that appear to be caked on to a wall. Cleaning windows and mirrors doesn't include having to use a razor blade to scrape off paint before you can Windex and wipe clean.
