I came to this dental office for a routine cleaning, which is fully covered under my MetLife PPO plan. I was never told that anything was wrong with my gums, nor was I informed of any underlying gum disease or condition that would require a deep cleaning. No one explained that I would be receiving anything other than the routine cleaning I scheduled. Instead, I was handed paperwork to sign without any explanation of why a different procedure was necessary. I was never shown any notes, X‑rays, periodontal measurements, or evidence that a deep cleaning was medically required. After the appointment, I was charged $250 for a deep cleaning I did not knowingly consent to. When I later contacted my insurance company, they confirmed that routine cleanings are covered and that I should have been eligible for one. This directly contradicted what the office told me. I called the office afterward to ask for clarification and a refund. The "manager" told me that the dentist's notes supposedly indicated a need for a deep cleaning -- but again, I was NEVER shown these notes during my visit, nor was anything explained to me verbally at the time. I had no opportunity to understand or agree to the treatment they chose to perform. Patients deserve transparency, informed consent, and honest communication. None of that happened here. I'm sharing this so others know to ask questions and insist on clear explanations before agreeing to any dental procedure. read more

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I set up a cleaning about a week ago but a few days ago, the bracket for my bottom braces broke which meant I needed to also visit my orthodontist immediately. The only time my ortho was able to see me was an hour after my scheduled cleaning. I called Great Expressions to inform them of this predicament to which they told me to try to come a bit earlier than my appointment - they were fully booked but would try to accommodate. Cool. I informed my ortho I may be 5 minutes late. Upon arrival, I find myself waiting past my scheduled cleaning appointment and go to the front desk to let them know I really can't stay because of my ortho appointment which was honestly much more important. Fran, the woman at the front desk, was SO rude about the entire encounter. I was informed before I arrived that my appointment would take 50 minutes so I knew that if I was seen at that point, I would be really late for my other appointment. I tell her this to which she replies, "well she [i assume my hygienist] is going to be a few minutes." I let her know I can't wait those few minutes to which she responds, "she put aside this hour for you so now she's going to be doing nothing." Not sure how that's my problem at all. I tell her I timed both appointments so that I could make both of them but this delay messes that up. At this point, all customer service goes out the window and Fran tells me she'd prefer if I stayed. Great to know what you prefer Fran, but it doesn't work that way. I ask her to possibly schedule me another appointment where she tells me the next available date is June 14th. Weird because when I called to make my original appointment, they had a bunch of spots open for next week. Great Expressions is right next to my parents' house so I stop by to inform my dad about the encounter. He calls and speaks to Fran to which she was extremely rude to my very nice father - I'll admit I wasn't being the nicest but my dad was trying to be super accommodating and unbiased and Fran was simply being (for lack of a better description) a complete asshole. My dad explained how I couldn't stick around for the 5 minutes they were running late and Fran has the nerve to say "5 minutes isn't running late" ??? Weird. Even 1 minute is still running late! This isn't the first time my family has had an issue with this office being timely. My mom also walked out when she went for a cleaning during her lunch break and they had her waiting too long. My mind is blown at how rude Fran was. Like literally no ounce of helpfulness. I understand having a bad day but I also work in customer service and know to leave whatever outside issues you may have, at the door. I've always tried to refrain from bad reviews but this experience was so awful, I had to share and warn others. read more

The entire staff is always patient, professional, efficient and kind. They are doing great with their reopening after Covid-19 shutdown. I feel extremely comfortable in their atmosphere. Doctor Z is awesome gentle and does great work !!! Highly recommend the practice read more

Unfortunately 1 is the lowest I can give in this review. In constant pain after having two teeth filled that did not hurt before. The office would not let me consult with a different dentist in the office stating their policy is that any follow up for a problem must be with the original performing dentist. This dentist has filled two cavities for me on two different occasions and now I have a significant problem with both teeth that I will have to have fixed elsewhere. This office always seems to have some unexpected charge or looks to add something to the bill. The worst dental experience of my life! read more

This place is terrible. Everytime its an issue. Made an important appointment for a consult and i needed this consult before i could move foward with a procedure and when i walked in the rude female at the desk told me i wasnt in thr computer, i had to show her thr reminder text message i recieved a day before confirming my appointment for her to take me.. then she tells me i was supposed to bring a copy of my Xrays, i asked on the phone when i made this consult appointment if i needed anything and i was told no... she said she would do me a favor and let me still have the consult.. thanks? Kept me waiting in a room on a chair for over AN HOUR. Just sitting there. The dentist came in spoke for two minutes, didnt answer my question and told me to wait here for the dental assistant to come in to answer my questions. ... sat there for another half hour until i just got up and walked out the office.. Now, this office couldnt schedule my father an appointment until they had a clearance from his Primary Doctor due to his illness, so i stood at the desk at his primary doctor and watched the receptionist fax over a medical clearance.. this was last week. I just called "Great Expressions", reluctantly, to make his appointment, and guess what, the receptionist just told me " theres no clearance in his file" ... i hung up on her. Went for what was understood to be a "free" consultation and they tried to charge me money after the fact. Be VERY careful going here, they are expensive and always look to charge you for stuff you do not need. In some cases they'll send you bills for stuff you already paid for, or attempt to get you to pay for something you thought was included. They treat their patients of 5+ years awful, go to a different dentist office. read more

This office is terrible. Charging clients cash out of pocket for "PPE" is petty and in bad taste. I have seen many doctors since the pandemic and this was the first with the audacity to pass this cost to the client. Not to mention the fact that hand sanitizer was forced into my hand 3 times in 30 minutes. The staff was rude and no wonder why with ownership that treats customers this poorly. My family has received dental care at this office for many years. I was so happy to meet Maura, the new hygienist in the office, as my previous hygienist recently left the practice. What a great addition to the office! She was careful, kind and professional. She took her time and did an excellent cleaning (which was quite overdue). I recommended her right away to my 3 adult children who are also seen in the office. Our family dentist, Dr. Ziaei, is always there when we need him, and keeps us all in the best possible dental health. Thank you, Great Expressions for all you do for us! read more

Dr. Z has been my dentist for about 15 years and he is wonderful! I never fail to have an amazing experience at this office. The office staff are friendly and polite and always accommodating. The office manager, Fran, is lovely and always brightens my day! BEWARE It's not normally my style to talk about another business on a review site but I feel it is important to the community to know my story. Great Expressions dental center in Commack treated me as an emergency patient because my regular dentist was on vacation. I cracked what I thought was a tooth but it was actually a crown in the back of my mouth. They never gave me options for a treatment plans they only gave me the option for a very expensive (over $1000) crown. I was leaving for vacation the next day so they made me a temporary and it crumbled right in the office before I left. They made the temporary 2 more times before I was able to leave the office. I left my trip the next day and 24 hours later the tooth again fell cracked and fell out. The day I got back from vacation I asked them to please cancel the order for the crown that it would not even fit because the temporary Had been out of my mouth for too long. This is not a private practice it's corporate owned with many locations around the country and I have been getting the runaround for almost 3 weeks. They can't follow through with the treatment plan and refused to give me back my money. Beware of corporate owned dental centers because none of the decisions are made locally. SCAM read more
