Truly enjoyed the actual dentist and hygienist but the office manager is rude and shady. First, she tried to charge my kids for their cleanings. Luckily, I had my detailed dental plan with me. For me, they went over my plan but did not explain this extra procedure was not covered by insurance - I would not have proceeded. When I brought it to their attention (my EOB says I paid 2x what I needed to) she was downright nasty. Such a shame - I thought we had found our place. read more

If you're interested in surprise appointments and constant changes to your scheduled appointments- come here! They will schedule you, change your appointment, not tell you, then gaslight you when you show up at the wrong time. If you provide proof it was their mistake (repeatedly) they will brush it off with a "oh oops, no worries" ...We have shown up for appointments and the office is CLOSED. I have been called a day before and told "oh hey your appointment is not at 10 anymore, can you be here at 3:30? Oh you can't? Can you be here in 4 months instead?" I understand that mistakes can be made but this is ridiculous- whoever is doing their scheduling needs to find another job. And it's a shame, because I like the dental experience itself! The times I've been there they are clean and overall a pleasant experience, but the scheduling issues are making me consider going elsewhere. read more

I am writing to share my experience at Great Expressions, which is similar to that of Mariana G.. The Senior Operations Manager, Vanessa Rodriguez. Despite being informed that services would be covered by insurance, Vanessa failed to submit a pre-authorization to confirm coverage, resulting in unexpected charges for me. The office submitted incomplete claims to the insurance company, billed me incorrectly, and, despite numerous attempts for resolution, has failed to take corrective action. I have made multiple phone calls and emails, which have been unanswered, rendering it impossible to resolve these issues. I did receive a call from Vanessa to confirm an appointment, to which I responded that I would not return until these issues were resolved. Despite this, the incorrect billing remains unresolved, and she stated that they would be taken care of, but I am still waiting. I'm not sure if this is on purpose to double bill, since there seems to be no way to fix billing issues. You can't talk to the parent company or the local dental center, so until there's someone in charge at the Cutler Bay office, I wouldn't recommend it. It's a shame because the doctors and staff I've dealt with have been great. read more

At the Cutler Bay office-A refund requested and it has been five months and not received yet. A year ago we went for dental services and we took a loan from Lending Point one of their financial institutions they work for and offered at their office and the dental office received the money right away. We paid off the loan and close the account with Lending Point. We completed most services and ended up with a refund due to us. Their office manager has giving us the run around for 5 months, when calling the office, sometimes we are told she is not there or busy with a patient. Finally after several calls and visits were are told is in process and request submitted for approval to corporate office. We are still waiting. read more

As someone who moves a lot, I've had a lot of dentists, and this branch is by far the worse. First, they charged me for an x-ray which was surprising with the insurance I have. When I called my insurance company later to get reimbursed, they said they also charged the insurance company the same price, so they got paid twice. Secondly, I was being charged for follow on service (deep clean), but again it should be zero dollars. My insurance company said they never ran a pre authorization and it is indeed covered. Very scammy. Secondly, the dentist doesn't have a holistic approach and the exam was subpar (never check my jaw or other areas I've seen other dentists do). I have three small cavities that I've had for years with no issues, but they demanded they fill them (probably to chase that insurance money). They also refused to do a general clean and said it had to be deep clean only...again, never heard a dentist say this. I went here for Ortho appointment and I have dental insurance. The orthodontist wanted to charge me $4,400 for normal braces (24 months) for my child. I stated I have insurance and was that quote taking into account the amount the insurance will cover. I was told yes. I said that the quote does not seem reasonable. They wanted me to sign a contract, I said no. Walked out and made an appointment elsewhere, Where I received an out of pocket quote of $1,800. Imagine that. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I went for cleaning and to inquire about the Invisalign and they are the most expensive place for them in Miami. Since I thought it was a standard cost, I went ahead and had them. I requested that they submit a claim through my dental insurance to see if they would cover a certain percentage (which they did say they would). After months and months of following up and they just said that my insurance never got back to them. Well I reached out to my insurance and they NEVER received a claim from Great Expressions specifically for the Invisalign. So I had to pay the full amount because the staff never did what they were supposed to do. Also, I found a new dentist and they had to remove the remaining glue that the Dentist left behind from the Invisalign holders on my teeth; almost a year later! Overall the Dentist was very nice but the service was certainly not up to par. I would never come back here and I'm thankful I found a much better Dental office in Pinecrest. I have an appt at 2pm and they don't even acknowledge you are there because they are having a party in the back. 30 mins later they start acknowledging the patients that have been waiting. They are unorganized and do not know how to schedule appointments correctly. Even though the dr is great I will not be going back here again. It's hard to love a Dentist for obvious reasons. I've had several issues with my kids teeth, run of the mill stuff. As for me, I've never had a cavity. So having kids under 5 with cavities, is an absolute nightmare. They have extreme patience, that alone makes the world of difference and gives them a 5 star from me. Just here to update my horrible review about this place! My mom has continued to stay at this practice due to the convenience that it's located right next to her job. I called last week and was told I'd receive a phone call regarding the bill my mom received and still haven't received any phone call! So I called again today and was placed on hold for 28 min 52 seconds, I decided I wasn't going to hang up but call from a different phone and of course i told no explanation on why I was placed on such a long hold but yet the same statement that I would be called back! Today I brought my son in for a cleaning and once they saw he had braces they said he cannot have a cleaning without a hygienist. So I asked why am I here and the dentist responded "to see me". Then they proceeded to tell me I needed a second appointment to have his teeth cleaned. At that point the dentist shared he needed sealant for his molars and she was sorry but the manager wasn't there to clarify the insurance and I needed to pay $264 for them to do the sealant. I explained it is covered every 3 years and she again stated she was sorry but she couldn't override the manager and she wasn't there. So if I wanted it done I had to pay in full even though she confirmed getting a refund from the insurance would be difficult. This all took place AFTER I was asked to sign a paper saying I would pay $74 for a second set of X-rays that were already taken 6 months ago and a fluoride treatment that is optional. I will never return again. Each appointment they want to see my son is charged separately. Super disappointed they are part of the Cutler Bay family neighborhood. read more

Now my employer has decided to take them here. This place is horrible!! You wait an hr just to see the doctor and they don't even have the things they need to work on you. On top of that they make you wait another hour and a half while they find your stuff. They are completely unorganized! One of my kids was screaming and the nurse tells me that I need to get up and leave the kids there alone! That's illegal! And then she starts screaming at say that I'm a horrible person and that I need to step away from the children! That is no way to represent your job. This place used to be wonderful with great dentists & staff. August 2016 I needed a cleaning but never could get anyone to answer the phone & no answering machine so ended up seeing a dentist that didn't take my insurance. This time, March 2017, I was able to get an apt & they told me they took my insurance so I made an appt. I gave the girl my insurance card. Went in & waited perhaps 3 minutes before someone came for me. There were no other people in the waiting room & as they took me back all the rooms were empty so I'm assuming I was the only patient there. Put me in the chair & started filling out multiple papers & working on computer. I was told they needed to take x-rays. They spent probably an hour or more taking many, many, many x-rays. Once the tech was done he said I needed to have the dentist see me before I had my cleaning (which is what I went in for). The dentist after a wait came in.....making a long story short....told me I had five (5) cavities, needed a crown on the lower right, probably needed another crown someplace else, had pockets so needed special meds injected & I also needed a consultation with a periodontist. The dentist then left & the tech again spent quite a while on the computer. Left & was gone & when he finally came back he had three (3) pages with all my work that needed to be done & the cost. He also gave me a referral for the periodontist. It would wind up in the thousands. I said I came in for a cleaning but no one ever came in to clean my teeth. I asked what did I owe as of that moment & he said nothing so I told him I would think about it. I got up & went to the desk & she told me I was okay to go. I walked out after sitting in the chair for two (2) hours with nothing having been done other than x-rays. Today I got a letter for $232.00 from my insurance telling me that they don't cover that office. The tech & the dentist were very nice & pleasant but the girl at the desk had nothing to say & didn't seem to know what she was doing. I'm going someplace else when I find a dentist that really takes my insurance & I will NOT go back to GREAT ESPRESSIONS. I wouldn't even give them one (1) star but you have to enter something. Horrible, just horrible!!! Be careful they will let you go to your appointment and then when you get there they will tell you, you have no insurance. They are super lazy. They don't want to take the time to call your insurance and if they do they always end up calling the wrong insurance (dumbasses) and then tell you in front of everyone that you do not have insurance. They also sent in our claims to the wrong address and tried to make us get stuck with the bill. The lady in charge of billing should not be in charge of it. She does not know what she is doing. They are just LAZY!!! If I could give this place a ZERO I would. I could not do a procedure because she was supposed to send in a referral/authorization to my insurance which she said she did. I recently went to the dentist at this location. This review is in particular to the dentist, Dr. Sagar Mauskar. He is wonderful!!! He takes the time to listen to you and exam your teeth. I have had bad experiences with dentists and trying to do all sorts of unnecessary treatments. He was very honest, up front, and trustworthy. I highly recommend him to anyone. Excessive and outrageous billing charges is what to expect if you go to this Great Expressions dental center. When I arrived for my scheduled teeth cleaning I was taken to the x-ray room to get x-rays I did not want nor asked for, so I told the technician I was just here for a cleaning. He basically said don't worry about it because it's just standard procedure to have this done. so after an abundance of x-rays and time the dentist comes into the room to tell me everything in detail that was wrong with my teeth. I told him also that I was just here for a teeth cleaning and not an exam but that was useless because he just carried on and on anyways. When I finally went into another room for my cleaning the hygienist said she was going to do a deeper cleaning on my upper left teeth which at the time I thought nothing of. As my teeth cleaning was nearing completion I was handed a piece of paper which I was asked to sign. I took a glance at it and from what I remember was a list of things the dentist had suggested I do in upcoming visits so I went ahead and signed it. When I finished and went to pay I was in total shock when I saw the bill. I paid $245.00 which I thought was extremely excessive for my cleaning when I have always paid $80-$100 in the past and I was told not to worry about the remaining $350.00 because my insurance would cover the exam, x-rays etc. that I rightly refused to pay for because I explicitly told them on more than one occasion I did not want those services. Well my insurance didn't cover the remainder or anything for that matter and soon after I started receiving bills for roughly $350.00 that I supposedly owed. I went to the office at least 3 times to discuss the bill and was told each time to speak with the business manager who was never in the office when I went or when I was told she would be there. i called the corporate office to advise them of the problem and spoke with a Sue Seiko who agreed that this was a ridiculous amount of money to pay for a teeth cleaning but referred me back to the business manager that I told her I had tried to already see on 3 different occasions and deal with it that way which I again tried to do. So anyways just the other day I received a letter from a collection agency threatening me for non-payment. After thinking about it I have decided it would just be flat out wrong in principle to pay any additional amount of money for this wrongful deception which I believe is purposely intended to result in illegal financial gain for this dental center. Apparently though this is an ongoing problem with this office as other people have told me they have had somewhat similar problems here, and i see some of the the same thing in other reviews. read more

This place was great when it used to be "Old Culter Dental"... up until about 2 years ago. Then it was sold to Great Expressions. None of the changes have been good and in that two years, ALL of the original staff except a few of the front desk folks, have left. All 4 dentists and most of the longtime hygeniests were either fired or quit. You know that's not a good sign. The office is completely sterile now. The hygeniests are discouraged from talking to you and they are not allowed to display pictures, degrees, or anything of a light or personal nature in their work areas... Is this 1950? Will we soon go back to office workers in neat rows of desks? Ugh! The hygeniests are encouraged to try to sell you electric toothbrushes, Arestin antibiotics, and dental work that you do not need. Case in point... I had just found out my hygeniest had left when I called to reschedule my appointment. I didn't have time to try find a new dentist and as it was just a cleaning, I went ahead and booked. I later discovered my dentist had also left. :( The girl who cleaned my teeth looked like she'd just finished tech school. She wasn't super rough, but she wasn't gentle and it took her 45 min to clean my teeth. Then, after a wait, I was led to another chair to wait for the dentist. Since when does the dentist not come to see you in the chair you are in? After another wait, the dentist appeared -- of course he wanted to take new x-rays (uh, no) and then without the benefit of the x-rays that I didn't let them take, he advised me that I was grinding my teeth and needed a bite guard ($500) and that I needed a crown on one of my molars which has had a hairline crack for a decade($500). Wow! He was really good... I mean, who else could have figured all that out with a 30 second examination? I did grind my teeth -- when I was a young teenager... it did some damage to my teeth, but I haven't since then... which he would have known if he'd bothered to look at my x-rays or even asked me. And the crack? Well, as far as I know it hasn't gotten any worse in the past year, but I think you'd need an x-ray to be sure. I basically fled the office, being chased down the hall by their "treatment consultant" who was stalking me with a $500 bill for this crown I don't need. Paid my bill, left, got to work, called another dentist. I'm done! UPDATE (1/6/15): I had an appointment with another dentist yesterday. He took tons of x-rays and spent a lot of time examining my teeth: no signs of recent grinding and the only "cracks" he could find on my teeth were tiny cracks in my enamel which are normal for my age. Wow! Great Expressions was going to damage a perfectly good tooth of mine and put a crown on it so they could make a few bucks and I would've been maimed for life. Nice. read more
