I was excited to see this Great Harvest on the main street during our recent visit to Wisconsin Dells. One of our favorite shops in Vienna, Virginia had been the Great Harvest there but, alas, we moved away about 15 months ago. Plus, both of our daughters had worked at the Great Harvest in Vienna when they were teenagers, so the chain has a special place in our hearts. We HAD to go in. Offerings. (5/5). Like the Vienna shop, this Great Harvest offers a wide variety of freshly baked breads, muffins, scones, cookies, tea loaves, and other sweets, and dry cereals (oatmeal, granola). They carried some bread varieties we hadn't tried before (Strawberry Loaf) and didn't have some of our favorites (Apple Scrapple). Unlike in Vienna, they also sell hot and cold breakfast foods, sandwiches, and even dog treats. Signage was good, highlighting the daily bread offerings. A menu at the counter showed breakfast and lunch options. Our purchases. (4/5). We bought two muffins ($3 each), "Groovy" granola ($8), and a tub of vanilla honey butter ($5). Taxes were already included. All items were tasty. Took off a point for "value." The items were somewhat expensive but not outrageously so. Ambiance. (2/5). The shop has indoor and outdoor tables, as well as a comfy-looking couch area to relax in. Ordering is done at a counter in the middle, where there are also racks and display cases with the breads and sweets offerings. Displays are well-spaced. The low rating is because some of the shelves were disheveled and the yellow-colored couches looked downright dirty. (See photo). I shared the photo with a friend who asked whether the couch came from a fraternity house. Service. (3/5). The young man at the counter was friendly enough, but didn't offer a sample from the tasting board until we asked him to. I thought they were expensive for what I was getting. It was $9 for a strawberry bread but it tasted good.

The inside could use a bit of cleaning as it was in disarray. The bread in the other hand was fresh and very tasty. The staff was nice and prices were reasonable. read more

We came at 8:45 am. to grab a cup of coffee. Was so rudely greeted. No good morning.. nothing. Rude tone of voice." You'll have to wait." No coffee made yet? The coffee so weak you could see through it in the cup. Zero aroma. Choose a few muffins to go. Very little out to choose from. Adviously not ready for customers. Zero ambiance, a pile of frozen boxed pies by the cashier area. We get it not everything is homemade but nothing in the display cases other than a couple cup cake,a few brownies and a few muffins. So assuming day old or more. Not inviting what so ever. Windows could use a cleaning and quite frankly the complete eating area. They don't represent the chain well at all. read more

We stopped here on our way back home. We got a grilled cheese sandwich for baby and grilled turkey with salad for ourselves. We also got a pizza bread to go. Overall great food and service. Nice that there is free parking until April. read more

I saw that I could get a breakfast sandwich here so figured I'd give it a try. We were driving back home from the area and did not want to stop and do a sit-down place. There used to be a place by the same name in Illinois and we used to love their bread - no idea if this is related but the nostalgia made it worth checking it out! Conveniently they also have a parking lot. For the breakfast sandwich, you have the egg and then choose your meat, sauce, cheese, and bread. All of the options were pretty standard, nothing unique, but it's nice to have options! I put turkey and swiss on my sandwich along with guac and sourdough bread. I don't recall all of the bread options (I think there were 4), but they were all pretty darn standard bread types you can get anywhere else. I must say, for a place called Great Harvest Bread Company, I thought the bread selections would've been more plentiful and unique like going to a bagel shop and having all different kinds of bagels to make your sandwich on. Oh well, the sourdough was still good! The egg on the sandwich was enormous - they do not skimp you on the egg, it was great! The sandwich was tasty and delicious (and maybe a little messy, napkins recommended). This sandwich was not messing around - it will keep you full for quite a long time. The egg was thick and plentiful, there was a very generous amount of turkey, plenty of cheese but not too much where it becomes annoying, and the guac spread. I could probably have only eaten half and been full, but where's the fun in that? Service was great - everyone was very friendly, though I don't know how quick it would be if the place were busy. I'm happy I stopped in, and definitely made a good choice for something on the go. The bakery items looked fantastic, but I did not try anything besides my breakfast sandwich. Definitely worth a stop, and if you're only traveling by, it's very conveniently located to the Interstate as well! read more

Arrived at 3:25 with a group of 6 and was able to be seated right away. We gave our orders at 3:30 and food was ready in 18-25 minutes. The inside was clean and well lit, the owner (I think) and employees were very nice! I ordered the ham & potato soup with the turkey club with avocado and the owner recommended I have it on the garlic cheddar bread. It was really good!!! This is a homey, local place in the Dells, with outdoor seating, couches and squishy chairs for a more relaxed vibe and tables and chairs for more serious eaters! We wandered in for breakfast, sure that a bread company would have sooooome breakfast options and boy were we right. I got the potato pancakes and my mom got a breakfast sandwich (eggs over medium, crispy bacon, cheese, tomato, onion) in addition to our three loaves of bread and several pastries we're taking home with us. To quote my mom: "That was the best breakfast sandwich I have had in a looong time." She is sure it could cure even the most intense of hangovers. The potato pancakes were crispy and fresh, well salted, and filling!! Very good atmosphere, and we are definitely planning to return the next time we're in town. read more

Really looked forward to another great harvest bread... the one near Chicago has closed and they had great bread! We came in at 8, excited to try some nice freshly made bread. When we entered, the air was stale. Flies everywhere... should have walked out then, but I couldn't since it was the bakery that I missed so much. We placed an order of cinnamon rolls, strawberry loaf (I saw some fresh ones in the back that looked soo yummy), an order of eggs and coffee. The cinnamon roll: it was alright. It seemed to be topped off with jar marshmallow topping. A fresh cream cheese topping would have been much better, especially in Wisconsin... Strawberry loaf: right away, the bread in the bag did not look appetizing, compared to the bread that was in the back of the store. We tried cutting a piece of bread with the knife that we had (a butter knife for the cinnamon roll), and that was already tough. Then we proceeded to try the bread: outside is tough, overall very chewy, saltier as you bite and a stronger taste of bitterness as you chew. We ended up tossing it out before leaving the bakery. $9 in the trash. Eggs: ordered over easy. Came out over easy, with specks of black all over it. And salty. The oil was old, the griddle was probably dirty. Coffee: smells like coffee. Tastes like tea... the coffee was really watered down. I did visit the restroom while there, and despite being among the first "wave" of customers this morning, the trash can was full, paper towels overflowing, toilet seat and surrounding toilet dirty. At least there was some soap and paper towels, hence the 2 stars. Oh, and the young woman and man who attended us were super sweet and nice! I will definitely give great harvest another try in its IL location in the near future, but I don't think we'll be returning to this one. read more

My wife and I visited the Great Harvest Bread Company in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin on Thursday, December 7, 2023; we hoped to pick-up a loaf of bread and/or some nutritious muffins. There were two workers at the store and neither acted particuarly interested in communicating or servicing us. The extent of communication from the staff was "No", delivered in a curt fashion, twice, when we inquired about sourdough or gluten-free bread. That was all the staff offered. No efforts were made to discuss what bread or muffins that they had, why we might be interested in these options, etc. We certainly picked-up a "vibe" that our presence was an irritation to the staff, rather than an opportunity for service. We understood that we were not welcomed at the store and left soon thereafter. We would not return to this store. That's unfortunate because our other experiences with this franchise have been wonderful. read more

Great Harvest is one of my favorite bread bakeries, so I was happy to see they have a location in the Dells! If you've never been to a Great Harvest, while they're all similar, the franchise allows them the freedom to be creative as well. So, each one has its own local flare. I've been to this location a couple of times. Once, we came to grab some sandwiches for a picnic in the park. The second time we came to grab a loaf of bread to enjoy at our Airbnb. Their sandwiches are great and they definitely don't skimp on fresh ingredients. My favorite bread is their honey whole wheat (for sandwiches). I also love their cinnamon chip bread. It makes for great toast, french toast, or simply sliced and enjoyed with a bit of butter. It's dense but not overly so. It's sweet, cinnamon-y deliciousness. While we were in this last time, my mom was wanting some cinnamon raisin bread. They didn't have any and offered to make her a fresh loaf that would be ready the following morning. What service! A single tear flowed down my face on the last bite knowing the experience was coming to and end finishing my sandwich... but the experience was not yet over.... soup....I had forgotten the soup I was so mesmerized by the sandwich... as I scoop the spoon into said soup and placed it in my mouth doves flew from behind me and god said " son you have now experienced full bliss".... When I first saw the store, I was delightfully excited. When you first walk in, you are greeted by the most wonderful smell of all sorts of different breads & baked goods. And you are greeted by the great staff members. The first thing that they do, is ask you how your day is and if you'd like to try a fresh sample of bread or sweets, with some homemade butter. Of course we sampled a piece or two, and naturally bought quite a bit of bread, sweets and butter. Also they sell fresh baked dog biscuits. And of course, I had to buy a few of those as well. I had bought two loaves of the cinnamon chip bread, two tubs of their home churned vanilla honey butter, one sticky bun, two dog biscuits, one raspberry & one blueberry pie cake. We stopped in for breakfast while we were in Wisconsin Dells. The owner and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our party of 5ordered the chicken fried steak, French toast, a breakfast sandwich, a cinnamon roll and a blueberry muffin. The food was cooked fresh to order with fresh ingredients. The French toast was made with fresh made bread and absolutely delicious! The chicken fried steak and the French toast both came with a potato cake that was made with fresh peeled and shredded potatoes. We found one!! We had a Great Harvest for about 8 years in our hometown and my kids grew up on their awesome bread. We stayed in Lake Delton last night and drove the 5 miles into Wisconsin Dells to find this place. Totally worth it! We stocked up on loads of bread and a few muffins. Kids will be thrilled. This location doesn't have the same sandwiches that are on the Great Harvest website and they do not honor the app rewards. They did tell me that they offer 10% off after I paid, but it was not applied to my order.It feels like it could used a good scrubbing from top to bottom and the club sandwich I ordered for $10.99 was just okay. So dirty!! The tables are not clean the floors are so so dirty!! It should smell like fresh bread and cinnamon rolls all it smells like is dirt!! The bathroom is disgusting! The two women serving the food have stains all and holes all over their shirts I get that they are baking but but on a apron omg!! It was so gross!! Best sandwich ever! Was craving a sandwich. I reviewed a couple Yelp reviews and this was my choice. When you walk in there is different types of breads, salsa, bakery and even homemade dog treats. The chalkboard on the left gives you baked breads for the day, soups and specials. The menus are up on the counter and the staff is incredibly friendly. The prices a competitive with WI Dells prices. To me a little high but when the food was delivered everything we had ordered was well worth the cost. Even the salad dressing was to die for. Everything was fresh. We took home some honey wheat bread and vanilla honey butter. So excited to enjoy this bread/butter for the rest of the week. We are saving this spot and will definitely be back. read more

So glad my family was able to stop in here when we were in the Dells!!! You have to stop in here and try the fresh homemade soups and sandwiches. The Ruben is TO DIE FOR. And you really haven't had soup until you've tried the owner's made from scratch homemade soups. Try the tomato basil if it's simmering that day. I don't think there is a single thing here that isn't totally amazing. You'd be hard pressed to find better food in town. Don't forget to take home some Hunters Rye or Cheddar Garlic loaves with some fresh whipped butter. You can even pick up some biscuits for your favorite pup or several varieties of gluten free breads for your celiac family member . This corner locality in the center of downtown sits a bit back from the curb but it won't be hard to find. You can smell the fresh baked bread and sweets wafting into the street. The doors were open in welcome & we received a warm hello from the guy manning the front counter. I was surprised that the front case wasn't full of muffins, cinnamon rolls & scones, making my baker's heart quite sad. It was explained that someone had come in the last 15 minutes & bought all of the sticky buns & cinnamon rolls. Never fear, we were very fortunate to enjoy the raspberry coconut muffin, which was quite delicious! The only breakfast sandwich option was an egg, ham/bacon, onion, tomato & cheese with your choice of bread (we chose French). The sandwiches were crispy, hot & really good. Overall a nice place for a quick breakfast. The only downside was that, as the front doors were open, we were unfortunately treated to cigarette smoke from several individuals who stood outside on the patio area. read more

I absolutely am in love with this place. I went with my S/O on our mini vacation and decided to explore all the stores. Was greeted immediately and a girl helped us out by letting us sample the vanilla honey butter? and the garlic butter as well on their Dakota bread. Holy frick it's amazing. I bought a chocolate chip muffin for $2 (it's a pretty good size) then proceeded to drop it immediately outside the shop. I almost cried and the girl ran so fast to give me another that I cried while I was walking away while stuffing my face. I'm not a native Wisconsin person, but I can tell you that their service is incredible and their butters and bread are god dang good. Stop by and grab a loaf of their fresh baked bread. It's excellent. Everything else is below par. The restaurant experience is lacking to put it nicely. I stopped by this afternoon for lunch, the front door was left open and all the seating is by the front door, so I had to run back to my car to retrieve my winter coat and wore it while eating, which is not the most comfortable way to eat. At the time we ordered the restaurant was getting busy and there appeared to only be one person on staff. After we ordered our sandwiches the cashier asked us if we needed the chipotle sauce that came on it. He explained that he would have to make a new batch and the store was getting kind of busy. Would we be okay with mayo. Later another worker showed up as we were exiting the restaurant. Perhaps the rest of the customers that day got their sandwiches made correctly. The restroom was out of toilet paper, so I used a brown paper towel to wipe myself. My final complaint was that when I asked for a cup of water, he indicated that their fountain machine was broke and I'd need to buy a bottle of water. This seemed very sketchy. We literally spent over $30 on a two person meal and they're pushing for that extra $3. Everyone who eats in a restaurant is aware there is a faucet with running water. I just felt like they were being greedy. read more

We saw a viral video on Facebook about this place and then happened to see an ad for it in a Dells coupon book. We had to hit it up! The moment you walk in the smell of bread hits you in the face and knocks you to heaven. They have a bread board with warm bread and let you try the breads they are selling that day. They might their own organic whole wheat so we got 2 honey whole wheat breads and 2 cinnamon chips. One was a gift, one was for our mom and the rest was for us. As we walked out we saw that the store is for sale - we hope it's still here next year when we come because their bread is heavenly. read more
