Oh what a find! This place was recommended by a local and although I'd passed by many times, the rec is what tipped my foot through the door at last. What a pleasant experience. The master of sandwiches who took my order recommended the smokehouse grilled cheese. It was a perfect suggestion It had beautiful texture, the perfect balance of meats to cheese to bread, and sauce. It was piping hot and every bite of this sandwich was enjoyed. I usually enjoy the middle of a sandwich but this one was nice from end to end. I actually took my time to enjoy this in little bites rather than scarfing it down. They were also kind enough to let me sample a slice of their bread which was really good. They have a variety of flavored butters and a good amount of loaves, cookies, and things that looked good. The vibe of this place is pretty cool. It is clean and the music is chill, and I super appreciate that they take good care of the restrooms. I've already lined up my next meal here. I received and was charged for the wrong bread on a Door Dash order. The bread I ordered was Dakota only available on Wednesday and Friday. I ordered it at 9 am on Friday. I received Honey Wheat Bread instead. I called the main shop on Frederica and ended up talking to the manager. He blamed the Dasher saying they we're supposed to check our orders. The Dashers are never supposed to open your sealed order. Which I told him. Then he suggested they had a deal with Door Dash to put in a replacement item if they didn't have it in stock. Then he said both locations were out of the Dakota loaf by 9 am this morning. I told him I was done with his lies. read more

About 11a on a Thursday my sister suggested stopping in for a quick sandwich before running errands while we were in town. I wasn't sure which counter to go to as there were two to choose from and it was very confusing. Once we figured it out the set up, we decided to order the breakfast sandwich on a biscuit only to be told that their listed menu item was unavailable as they did not have biscuits and they needed to confirm with management that they even had eggs. Not giving me good vibes so far. I ended up ordering sausage egg and pepper jack on wheat bread. It was the most bland and tasteless breakfast sandwich I have ever had. Zero seasoning on the very dry eggs. Apparently they were scrambled for some reason. Wheat bread was not crunchy at all with hardly any butter. The muffuletta isnt on the traditional New Orleans muffuletta bread but that's totally okay considering how flavorful this is. It's a hit. I have enjoyed the Bread I have gotten in the past. I usually get the Chicken Salad sandwich on the Sun Dried Tomato Bread. I have purchased the bread by slices in the past. I visited there yesterday & was waited on by the owner. He informed me they don't sell bread by the slices. He was VERY RUDE & said "I have been in business 24 years & if I lost you as a customer it would not hurt me". Well maybe he's been in business for 24 years because he normally doesn't wait on his customers. Let me tell you I have been in customer service for over 40 years & I have NEVER spoken to a customer like this. Anyone who has been in business knows they're in business because of their customers. I will not be back. I went to a seminar & the instructor said people will tell at least 7 people they know if they have had a good experience somewhere, but if they have had a bad experience they will tell over 30 people (which I will). That being said let's see if you're in business for the next 24 years. I felt so belittled & I have never been treated so bad in my life. The ingredients were listed on the menu and nowhere did it state it had mayonnaise in it, but that's all I tasted. Absolutely vile and false advertising. The chicken breast had a giant vein in the middle and seemed like even it was covered in mayonnaise. If you're not going to list all the ingredients, why bother listing any on the menu? I would have NEVER ordered that had I known it's basically a plain unseasoned chicken breast smothered in mayonnaise on white bread. Gross is an understatement. read more

I will start by saying I've had Great Harvest Bread Co. cater a few small events in Owensboro, and they are always a pleasure to work with. The cookies and brownies are delicious and always a hit. (I look forward to the brownies... Soooooo good.) I finally stopped in for lunch recently, and I was not disappointed. It was slightly busy, as it was lunch time, but I was able to step up to the counter and order immediately. I went to the restroom, and by the time I came back, my sandwich was ready. (I tried the blue cheese and roast beef.). It hit the spot, and the bread was fresh and delicious. I have been told they're "known" for their chicken salad, so I may have to try that on an upcoming visit. The staff was kind, and the display of desserts was tempting. (Of course , I gave in to temptation.). The only thing I would like to see differently would be brief descriptions of all of the sandwiches. I wasn't clear in what a few of them were by the name alone (thought regular might know). This may have been there, but I didn't see it. I don't think you could be disappointed though. If you're looking for a good sandwich/bread/dessert, Great Harvest won't let you down. read more

This is THE place to go in Owensboro for a delicious sandwich! My husband and I usually call ahead and pick it up for a quick lunch. You can call to order and they will ask what time they need to have it ready by- great service! They also have a small cafe area to eat in, but we've never stayed to eat. I also love the smoked house special - pulled pork, cheddar and Swiss cheese, bacon and spicy mayo on sourdough bread. My favorite soups are the tomato bisque (everyday), the chicken wild rice (tues) and the broccoli cheddar (wed). They give out generous portions when you sample the sweet loaves of bread (they are all good, can't go wrong!). I always buy a loaf of bread when I go back home. This is a real hidden gem in Kentucky. I love the sandwiches that they have there isn't one bad one on the menu. If you have a little bit of a sweet tooth I do suggest going to the bread section and picking up the pumpkin chocolate chip loaf which is to die for.
