i went to ace to get a copy of a key made for my truck. the lady that "helped me" was very rude. telling me that she didn't want to make me a key without a chip because if i used it in my ignition it would brick my truck. this is somthing that i already understood. i explained to her that i did not plan to use it in the ignition but rather the door, in case i lock my key inside. after a long explanation of why she didnt want to make me a key she called me a dumb entitled kid. i left without a new key. i think she was a manager. she was an old grumpy lady with glasses. based on other reviews i would assume her name is Christina. read more

Went there to get a tool to fix my truck, was greeted with an extremely rude manager, I believe her name was Christina. She was extremely rude to myself, (she was very impatient and disrespectful and pushy )and was rude to another worker there. I genuinely feel bad for the workers who have to deal with her. read more

What a pathetic excuse for a hardware store - or, more accurately, what pathetic customer service and assistance for a hardware store. Arrived at a relatively slow time, 2 pm on a Tuesday. A few customers but not much going on. Two staff at the front counter, others walking around, seemingly unoccupied. I asked a staff member standing in the paint department where the floor and porch paint was. He replied, "Huh? What are you looking for?" I repeated my request for porch paint. He looked confused. My wife, a professional painter, joined me and prompted him again, asking for floor paint. He replied he didn't think there was floor paint -- it did not exist-- but he would look. A few minutes later, he announced with some incredulity that he found the floor and porch paint on a top shelf, well out of our reach or line of sight. He began to read the labels: "We have gray, light base, medium base, and dark base. What color do you want?" I asked him what colors were available and then repeated the four labels on the cans. We left the store. Won't be going back. Rudeness and stupidity like this pretty much insure we will be ordering our floor paint online. read more

GO GREENVILLE ACE I bought a flag and when I got home I discovered the bracket was was missing ( holds flag up. ) I drove to the store an associate walked back to the flags and 2 more where missing the bracket , out of 5 simple right... nope I had recite but was told I needed the plastic sleeve ( which was put in recycling bin at home 20 minutes away. Even thought there where 2 of the exact same flags in there store missing brackets.) I stopped going to this hardware because after 20 years of shopping there it was turning into a dump. Of all the hardware stores , when you use Apple Maps this is closest to me BUT hardware stores further away are recommended, huh wonder why!!! Hardware stores are more than a place to get STUFF you need , they are a community of like minded people who enjoy Doing STUFF. If you leave angry it's not a hardware it's a bunch of like minded people who distrust, and don't care. Which is Represenative of management, GO DO SOMETHING ELSE! , work at a cell phone store or the Secretary of State, two models of unhappy managers an employee blaming the customers for even stopping an considering SERVICE. Pete would burn the place down before he let his business treat people this way. Greenville has 2 great hardware and it's a nice drive ( with time to add to your list of thing you don't need but will buy anyway because, who knows when you might have that thing you bought in your tool box!) read more

Sure, it's not a big box retail store, but every time I go in (I only live 6 miles away), I am greeted and asked what I need, and have never been given the run-around or steered wrong. Everybody is very helpful, or else they put me in contact with the person I need. If I do not specifically need something the big box hardware stores have (toilet, dishwasher, lighting, etc), and only need something more common like furnace filters, tools, or nuts/bolts, this is my go-to place! read more

I've only been to Rockford Ace Hardware a couple of times to purchase Stihl tools and each time was very pleased with the service and prices. The latest purchase was for a chain saw was 2 weeks ago. I had done some prior research but was not 100% sure which model would be best for me. Upon arriving, I was greeted and asked if I needed any assistance which I rejected as I wanted to see what they had in stock and check them out on my own. After a few minutes I had plenty of questions and asked for some help. Within a few minutes a gentlemen showed up, asked a few questions about frequency and size of trees and then explained each model that would meet my needs. He recommended 2 models and I went with 1 of his recommendations. He prepped it and took me outside to demonstrated the safety features and how to tighten the chain, start, fuel and store it. His knowledge and thoroughness in explaining gave me confidence that I was purchasing the right chain saw. I've used it 3 times and very happy with his recommendation. I live 1 mile from Lowe's on Plainfield and will definitely drive 15 minutes further to get better service and knowledge. Rockford Ace Hardware has won my future business! read more

Not what it used to be. New ownership in recent months and the spiral downward is precipitous. Cheaper products, higher prices, service NOT what it always was for decades before. It's a shame. Where are all the folks we all counted on around here? I'm all for jobs for the young, but if you hire them either train them or hire the wiz kids. The folks that knew where everything is, and exactly what it does...good luck finding them. The new folks are kind enough, but kindness without knowledge and experience does not make for much of a hardware store. Time will tell if they survive this but don't go in there expecting what you had for so, so long. Lowe's isn't so far away and though I do not like big box, I can no longer get what I used to get here; so what's the point? read more

Ace Hardware always was my most commonly home improvement store that I would shop at back home in Hawaii-they always had just about everything and more than most of ( choices ) of QUALITY Tools that many stores didn't have..... its nice to see that even though I'm far across the US of A that some things don't change....!!!!! read more

If you really need something or need to ask a question about a project avoid this store. Many of the employees are teenagers who are useless when I comes to questions. The store employees don't know where anything is and they don't have many of the things needed. I've been to this store many times and left empty handed. read more

The in-store experience here has always been top notch. The curbside pickup however is like 5 monkeys in love with the same football. When you get an email that says your order is ready and to go to the store, your order is most definitely NOT ready. In fact, two days in a row they seem completely surprised by the idea that someone showed up to pickup an order. They don't understand how to gather the items in your "fulfilled" order, you get transferred at least twice before someone actually understands that you already paid for things are are waiting outside for them, they ask you if you remembered what you ordered and generally are clueless to the whole process. After two days in a row of enduring this misery (hurt me once, shame on you; hurt me twice, shame on me) I gave up and ordered from TSC. The process was seamless and it took me less time to drive there and get my stuff than I spent waiting in the ACE parking lot on hold. Now I'm on the phone on hold with Rockford Ace Hardware (going on forty minutes) while they try to find the one person who knows how to cancel my order and refund my money. Shameless. Doesn't exactly inspire "shop local, think global". read more
