I bought a new Mazda CX5 from Fox motors, and paid to have Great Lakes do the paint protection service to add gloss and protect it They gave me a coupon book to get a touchup clean and polish every year. I also had them do interior fabric protection. I did the clean and polish every year for seven years and when I finally sold my car after nine years, the paint still looked smooth and glossy. I did wash it every week and waxed it once in a while, but when selling the car, others were surprised it was that old because it still looked very good. I was also surprised that the seat fabric still repelled liquid stains, even 6 to 7 years later. I would recommend the paint protection service again and would likely do it for my next new car to keep it looking sharp and clean. They did very good work. Bought a package from the dealership where I bought my 1 year old used car. It was for rust proofing and a " top coat" application to protect the paint on the car for years to come. Two years later the top coat is bubbling up and pealing off. I took it back to them and they said that there is nothing they could do because the doors have previously been painted before the application was applied so that voids the warranty. I asked him how he knows that the doors were painted and he shows a couple of drip marks on the inside door and says " that's not factory. We only warranty factory paint". How come they didn't tell me that when I brought it in for application? Now I have a crappy looking car with the top coat pealing off all 4 doors which will cost $3000 to repaint. I would've been better off without the package. Do not recommend this company. Thieves. read more

I've only ever written one or two reviews, but I really want to write one for these guys. We moved from Los Angeles to Grand Rapids this past July and I brought my beloved 2003 Chevy Suburban with me. I bought it new and I really plan on keeping it for ever. Seeing as how it was always in sunny CA and was never subjected to harsh winters and road salt I was wanting to find a way to avoid having my ride looking like so many similar cars I had been seeing here...rusted completely through in a lot of areas. I've seen bumpers and wheel wells just completely gone. After asking around for a place that could do a "bedliner" coating on the doors, bumpers, etc, I finally came to find "Great Lakes". I explained to them what I was thinking and we soon had a game plan. I told them there was no immediate hurry and that I wanted it done "right". These guys went the extra mile to see to it that I was 100 percent happy with the results. They first removed both bumpers and all of the plastic body trim and the protective pieces on the door sills in order to prep and coat all surfaces...leaving nowhere for corrosion to get a grip. They then masked the car, sprayed a thick, uniform coating of the black bedliner. They coated the bumpers inside and out...fully coated!!! I don't think they'll ever rust. Before putting the car back together they had me come in to inspect it to make sure I was happy with it. After the bedliner, I had them undercoat the car and rustproof inside all of the body panels. I spent some money to have all of this done. It wasn't cheap, but I have to say it has to be WAYYYYYYYY cheaper than not doing it. There is no way I can afford to buy another car and besides, I like my car. When I went in to pick it up and saw it I honestly felt some of that same excitement just like when you buy a new car. It looked absolutely amazing. I liked the results so much too that I photographed the car in our first snow this year and made a big canvas print for on their wall. We bought a rust protection plan along with an interior protection plan from a Chevrolet dealership for our new car. The plan was to keep the car long term and the warranty from GLC would keep it in good shape. They installed an electronic trust prevention module on the car and gave us a box of car care products. Fast forward three years and the paint is bubbling from rust on the inside bottom of the doors. Exactly why I spent over 1000k for the plan. Turns out that GLC will only cover rust if the seams on the doors come apart, or the rust actually penetrates the outside of the door causing a small hole. So I'm supposed to sit back and wait for my car to actually rust out? Then they will just find another excuse. I'll have to pay someone to repair this now. GLC clearly spent a pile of money on lawyers to write a useless warranty. They should be ashamed, but clearly while I was talking to the rep in person they are not. I will not buy a warranty from anyone ever again. read more

Kalamazoo Location review. Nice product and most employees are top notch but I will warn you about prepaying for a care package with redeemable coupons. They put their priority towards new business. If you call to redeem something you prepaid for they say they are a month out. If you call to purchase a new package they can get you in much faster. Makes business sense but it puts them in a power position over people that have prepaid. They basically have no motivation to provide your prepaid service. When I called they of course said they were a month. When I questioned their scheduling practices it was an obvious hot button for their associate Chris. He immediately got an attitude, said how great they were and basically told me that if that was my attitude I could take my business else where. That is a gutsy call, not, since they already took my money. read more

Despite the strange name, this company actually performs service on cars, such as, truck bed-liners, scratch and rust protection etc. They also remove dents. I had an insurance policy for dent and ding protection on my newer vehicle. They sent me to Great Lakes. While I was there for the dent, the manager proceeded to engage in the most egregious example of high-pressure sales tactics I have ever been forced to endure!! This individual refused to take "no" for an answer when he tried to sell me numerous things I did not need or want---i.e. why do I need windshield treatment to make water run of the windshield? Anyway, he boasted about how he sold $400 of services to the previous customer, I eventually told him all he'd get from me was the insurance contract and he finally left me alone. Quite frankly, I'd never return to this place again!!! read more

My car came with a package to protect the paint and interior. I've had it a couple of years now. Each year when I go in to have it reapplied as part of the package I already paid for, they try to sell me other services. I've spent some extra money with them, $200+ for a tire/wheel protection, and some others. This year my wife and I dropped it off on the way out of town for vacation. We decided to spend with them again and have the inside detailed. We told them we'd pick it up Monday (labor day) on our way back and to just lock the keys in it so we can pick it up. They said they'd keep it inside til the end of the week which I thought was a nice touch. We came back and guess what? NO CAR. And of course they're closed (holiday). So I had no vehicle to get to work today. Luckily I was able to borrow from a relative for the one day. When my wife called today and talked to the manager about it, the attitude she got was basically....too bad. Not our fault. We don't know why they told you it was ok to pick it up, Monday. We're closed. We don't know why nobody called to tell you it was finished so that you could remind us A THIRD TIME to have it outside at the end of the week for pickup. We were doing YOU a favor by keeping it inside and making it so you had no transportation to your job. We'll give you a small discount on a future service you don't need us to do but it's not our fault. Well GLC....you can keep your discount. I'll keep my money. You'll see me once a year for the protection I already paid for, and that's it. What a poor attitude to have in a service industry! read more

This company has the worst customer service. The staff is rude, talking over the customer. I bought a premium package from this company and it has been nothing but aggravating to try and work with them. Not only is the package very expensive but you have to pay them $15 to wash your car before they will apply the sealant annually. For the cost a car wash should be included. Not only did I pay a substantial amount for a car wash but the car still had residue on it, it was not even clean. I am now moving out of state and wanted to know what I could do with my five remaining coupons that are already paid for. At first I was told I could transfer them to someone else or sell them and then when I followed up on that the rude staff told me that I could not transfer them that they had to stay with the vehicle they were purchased with. I was basically told that it was not there problem and my options were to use the coupons or throw them away. I hope you enjoy the free money, it has been less than pleasant. Of course when the owner is a less than polite man himself I guess that would reflect in the company. read more
