Very cute ice cream station in a kaboose! Plenty of seating in the shade, and also on old rail wagons. There's even a drive thru! Selection was good, they had about 15 or so Perrys ice cream flavors, a handful of custard flavors, some sundaes, and a few more specialty treats. Service was good, our ice creams came out quickly! Ice cream cones start at $3 for a kids size, but if you post a photo on social media and tag them, you can get a free kids size cone! See the prop with the face cutouts for details.

Their soft serve custard, available in 9 flavors the day we came, is thick and creamy. I don't know how soft serve is made, but I'be read that soft serve ice cream that has *more* air whipped into it is creamier. But this ice cream is lovely and dense. The place itself is absolutely charming and clean. The only downside to this place is something that Great Lakes Station can not control: the traffic is loud and horrific. The Station is located at a corner, and it's in an industrial side of town. Wish there could be a barrier of trees to buffer the sound and diesel stink.

It was in a train car, much like my first time

I like that Trump is giving out cheese and graters to all of his fans. He's just trying to make America grate again. Speaking of grate, Great Lakes Station has good soft serve ice cream (not great or grate), and really lovely (and super cuuute) servers. I wonder if they discriminate against not-as-cute employment applications because all of the girls here are cute. Even cuter is the lovely little "train car" decor. It's quite unique and original, and this place definitely deserves the glowing 4 star rec I am giving it, even though it's not as good as some of the local ice cream (Antoinette's) and soft serve (Hibbard's) places. Anyway, I have a friend who lakes this place so I'll stop giving it a mediocre appraisal now.

When I was little, this place was promptly titled, "The Ice Cream Train." The reason should be pretty obvious. They took a train caboose and converted it into a nice little ice cream stand, which offers the usual soft serve cones, Perry's, and a couple of specialty items as well. Great Lakes Station is a nice place to stop at if you're in the area, or just happen to be driving by. It's definitely a fun place for kids, who can gape at the cool little train car and enjoy some ice cream in the meantime! There's plenty of seating areas; a bench on the deck, plus the mini rocking caboose that recently became an addition to the stand. There's also some locomotive memorabilia scattered around the area outside of the train. On the side nearest the main road they've recently added a drive-thru, which is ok if you're just in the mood to grab and go, but I say it's worth parking your car and having a seat while you appreciate what a cool little hidden gem this place is.

If I could give the Great Lakes station 10 stars I would! I stars for friendly staff when you... Wait for it... Drive up to the window! And they offer nine flavors of my very favorite Summer treat, custard! I had the cappuccino flavor and I could not believe how delicious it was. They take cash or card you drive right up get your treat and go! What could be better in life? :-) They also offer milkshakes, floats, hard ice cream and sundaes... It has lots of fun rides for the Littles and places to sit for the grown-ups. You will love this place! Right on Union Road just north of the 400 exit

My kids love it here! Good flavors and decent prices. My kids love the sliding caboose bench! We stop here every time we are in town.

The quality is incredible and the mix-ins are so generous, no skimping here. This round we tried the Orangey Eggnog Stracciatella and the Oreo Brownie Cake. Christian absolutely nailed the cozy, Christmasy vibes with the eggnog flavor. I already know I'll be craving this one every winter. And the Oreo Brownie Cake? Come on... the name alone is tempting, but it delivers. Think fudgy brownie swirls, big chunks of Oreos, and pure chocolatey goodness in every scoop. Basically heaven in a pint. Worth every single penny. And even better when you share it with someone who also has a sweet tooth.

I'll be honest, I've been putting off ordering a few pints because I didn't want to make the effort/time for picking it up. Thanks to a dear friend, a fellow Yelp Elite, I've FINALLY had the opportunity to try some pints, and holy smokes, Living the Cream is phenomenal! Note that in to order flavors, you'll want to follow "livingthecream_" on Instagram, "living_the_cream_" on Facebook, which showcases any new flavors being crafted and hosts the link to place your order. I tried two flavors: Oreo Brownie Smash and Orangey Eggnog Stracciatella. Oreo Brownie Smash is Oreo cookie ice cream with brownie batter swirls, Oreo cookies & cream cookie dough, and half-baked brownies and Orangey Eggnog Stracciatella is spiced eggnog ice cream infused with Jim Beam and Platter's dark orange chocolate stracciatella. Just. WOW! Absolutely no complaints, each was bursting with flavor and packed with so many mix-ins. I loved finding huge Oreo cookies & cream cookie dough chunks and just how chocolatey Oreo Brownie Smash was thanks to all the brownie bits swirled in. The Orangey Eggnog Stracciatella had the creamy, comforting flavor of eggnog with a nice nip of Jim Beam that let you know it was there but never overpowering. The crunchy bits of the dark orange chocolate stracciatella cut through all the creaminess, only elevating the ice cream overall. Opening both pints, I was super impressed how jam-packed they were - It took a bit of effort to get the lids off, the pint was on the cusp of overflowing! So I didn't order these pints so I can't give you the most accurate pricing info, but after trying a couple flavors, I'm happy to order a few pints myself without thinking too much about the cost. I'm really glad Living the Cream is out here, churning up amazing ice cream flavors for Buffalo! As a few other Yelp reviews mention, make a little room in your freezer and treat yo'self to a couple pints of some of the creamiest, mix-in full ice cream you'll ever have!

I had mine with whipped cream, hot fudge and chocolate ice cream. I got it to go and the people checking out next to me commented on how good it looked. Which is funny considering it was sitting in a styroform cup. It was the greatest thing I've ever eaten. The chocolate ice cream was rich and delicious. The bottom of the cup was coated in hot fudge then dumped over the top of the ice cream. And I could've eaten an entire bowl of that homemade whipped cream. It was very light and airy. It's also fun to wander around eyeing all the candies and chocolates... excellent gift ideas. On this visit, my daughter and I split a large Arctic swirl with brownies pieces and swapped the vanilla custard for eggnog. Best decision I've made all season, no regrets! The only tiny downside: the signs. So. Many. Signs. Rules everywhere--no ice cream in the chocolate area, carry a basket so nothing melts or breaks, no glass outside, clean your trays, etc. I get it (I, too, am a bit of a control freak), but it does start to feel like ice cream comes with a user manual. That said, clearly they've been burned before... or maybe I just recognize my own people. Either way, worth it for the custard alone. And make sure you plan to go right home. This way, you can buy some of their hard ice cream to keep in your freezer.
