Selection was good, they had about 15 or so Perrys ice cream flavors, a handful of custard flavors, some sundaes, and a few more specialty treats. Service was good, our ice creams came out quickly! I don't know how soft serve is made, but I'be read that soft serve ice cream that has *more* air whipped into it is creamier. But this ice cream is lovely and dense. The place itself is absolutely charming and clean. The only downside to this place is something that Great Lakes Station can not control: the traffic is loud and horrific. I have not been here in a while however did stop in today. There is a "drive-thru". Convenient. My order is very simple. Chocolate soft serve in a cup with the red dip on top. Love it! They do it right! Kid and grand kids ordered various cones/flavors/sprinkles, etc., and everything came as ordered. Prices are what I would expect to pay for what I purchased. I like that Trump is giving out cheese and graters to all of his fans. He's just trying to make America grate again. Speaking of grate, Great Lakes Station has good soft serve ice cream (not great or grate), and really lovely (and super cuuute) servers. I wonder if they discriminate against not-as-cute employment applications because all of the girls here are cute. Even cuter is the lovely little "train car" decor. It's quite unique and original, and this place definitely deserves the glowing 4 star rec I am giving it, even though it's not as good as some of the local ice cream (Antoinette's) and soft serve (Hibbard's) places. When I was little, this place was promptly titled, "The Ice Cream Train." The reason should be pretty obvious. They took a train caboose and converted it into a nice little ice cream stand, which offers the usual soft serve cones, Perry's, and a couple of specialty items as well. Great Lakes Station is a nice place to stop at if you're in the area, or just happen to be driving by. It's definitely a fun place for kids, who can gape at the cool little train car and enjoy some ice cream in the meantime! There's plenty of seating areas; a bench on the deck, plus the mini rocking caboose that recently became an addition to the stand. There's also some locomotive memorabilia scattered around the area outside of the train. On the side nearest the main road they've recently added a drive-thru, which is ok if you're just in the mood to grab and go, but I say it's worth parking your car and having a seat while you appreciate what a cool little hidden gem this place is. read more

The selection is limited, they have soft serve or Perry's hard ice cream, and your usual shakes and such, but in this day and age, if you want to be a competitive ice cream shoppe, you need to make sure there is something for everyone. No sugar added, low lactose, gluten free, you get my drift. Other places have no issues doing this but this place hasn't caught up with the times I guess. This ice cream place has been here as long as I can remember but for me, it's not a usual stop. I have quite a few I would rather go to first, but maybe I'll be back someday to try again. read more

YUK! My husband and I just stopped a little while ago and the ice cream was terrible. My husband ordered the pistachio and I had the banana. This is a good place for dessert if you have room after a meal at Schwabl's (whenever they can reopen), the Gardenview, Tony Rome's, Olive Branch, or any other nearby West Seneca restaurants. Or you can just stop by. It is a typical WNY ice cream stand, although the train caboose does grab your attention. They have custard and hard ice cream, with a good selection of Perry's ice cream flavors. Pricing is about typical for an ice cream stand. I think we paid $2.95 for a regular cone with three scoops of ice cream, which was more than enough. Seating isn't bad with a few tables. And there is a drive-through as well in case you can't stay.
