You're in for a treat! My NY friend introduced me to this shop because she knows I love chocolate and this place did not disappoint! Hugh selection of creamy milk and dark chocolates to choose from in the old historic brick Wurlitzer building. They have windows where you can see them make candy. They're famous for their orange chocolate and their chocolate covered sponge candy. I choose milk chocolate sea salt candies and milk chocolate peanut butter cups. Both are mouth watering delicious. They have something for everyone and even sell coffee. ( orange chocolate of course). And if that wasn't enough, they also serve hard and soft ice cream along with soda drinks. I tried the Lavender and vanilla ice cream that was refreshing. There's plenty of free parking in the front. The staff was very nice and helpful. On this visit to Platter's, I was there for the coffee selection, not my usual, ice cream. There is a decent size selection to choose from and the prices are reasonable. I ordered a 24oz cold brew (black) with orange chocolate cold foam. You can get a cold foam in any of the flavors they offer for coffee or bubble tea. I have never seen another coffee spot offer this option. Before the cold foam started to fall ever so gently into the brew, I gave it a sip to see what just the cold brew tasted like. It was kind of bitter, which I don't fihdvtj be typical of cold brews; in my experience at other coffee spots, cold brews have been quite smooth. Once the clorange chocolate cold foam got mixed in, it was delightful. It hit the spot on a warm day. The cashier/barista was friendly and helpful. If you're not into coffee, tea or bubble tea, you can get ice cream to the left off the coffee or any of their chocolatey treats to the right. Quick service, lots of parking. I enjoy the fact that they have new flavors often, but they run out and that's disappointing. When they run out of rotating flavors, they don't rotate right away and stay empty in the freezer case. The cookie dough mix in is not like the cookie dough in cookie dough ice cream - it's like the Pillsbury dough flavor once it changed to whole wheat flour - bland and gritty. My latte was perfectly made & affogato with the espresso biscotti makes it a perfect pair. There's 3 stations, each have their own checkout counters. The Ice cream section has plenty of flavors, toppings, specialty ice creams, milkshakes, frozen yogurt, plant based, ice cream cakes/sandwiches, & they even have a doggie dessert. In between is the coffee/tea bar with multiple coffee options, specialty drinks, bubble tea, smoothies, & homemade pastries that are available daily. The back section is where the delicious chocolates & other assorted treats are located. You can also see the wall of unique chocolate molds. Seasonal shaped treats are also available. On to the other side is the factory where you can watch the chocolate making process through the window and it makes a great experience. They made us feel right at home and even offered us each a piece of chocolate to try before we bought some. I came looking for their Sponge Candy. I bought their regular milk chocolate sponge Candy and and she also suggested their Orange Chocolate Sponge Candy. Both were phenomenal and I would definitely try them again next time I'm in the area, while also getting some coffee and ice cream. Spring has sprung and it was definitely a night to go get ice cream at a place we have never been to before. We had heard many good things about Platter's, so off we went. I had a feeling it would be busy on a Friday night, and I was right. We walked in and immediately saw the seating area as well as the line. We just kept walking towards the back of the restaurant until we found the end of the line. I thought we would be in line forever, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly it went. From beginning to end I would say we were there 20 minutes. While we were waiting, we were able to look around the place and it is huge! There is seating everywhere, and in COVID times, it's nice to see you can a seat away from others if you want. They also have a large selection of chocolates, coffees, and you can see where they make the chocolate as well. As we were focused on just getting ice cream and going home, we said we definitely want to come back to walk around and see what else they offer. When it came time to order, the staff was very helpful and friendly. I ordered a medium sundae, and I know next time to get a baby or small size. Wow, it's a lot of ice cream! We ordered a medium hot fudge sundae with cookies 'n cream, marshmallow, and rainbow sprinkles as well as a small Black Raspberry ice cream cone. They were both absolutely delicious! In addiction to the individual chocolates you can pick, they have a vast array of wrapped chocolates, boxes chocolates, gift packages, stuffed animals, glasses, their own personal popcorn, etc. On my first visit, I ordered a peppermint mocha. It was the most delicious I've ever had. Very rich and creamy. On my second visit (today) I tried their Parmesan popcorn and some chocolate. Everything was soooo good.
