First time in this friendly neighborhood beer hall. Came for their offering during Portland Pizza Week. The intent is that you can get a creative slice for a uniform price at any participating location during the promo week. But here they only sell a whole pan. Would it kill them just to play along? Feels kinda underhanded. That said, their square "Let's Get Baked" was kinda weak, but with a yummy crust. After this experience I conclude that potato does not go well on pizza, the flavor profile is too bland. The wait was long. No condiments other than pepper flakes. The tables propped up by a large beer keg kinda suck as it's difficult to stretch your legs. Friendly bartender. iPad defaults to a minimum 20%, but that's Portland. The Trainsong Saison beer completed the meal well. Doable parking. People look happy here. read more

A classic example of a neighborhood brewery. The brewery is unpretentious and blends naturally with the area. Plenty of well worn seating inside and out. The beertender with glasses was right on friendly with his welcoming making you think you are undoubtedly going to keep your card on tab. Cool guy. Their core Watershed IPA is solid but a seasonal favorite is the Ill Tempered Gnome Brown Ale. Small batch brewing keeps new brews in rotation. Pizza is ~ 8in Detroit style a bit pricey but good. Seasonal events makes this a popular spot for repeat customers. Street parking. The music is loud on the weekends. read more

I've been here several times over the last couple of years. Pizza is nice. It's more of the Detroit style. I love the crust. I love their chocolate chip cookies and their beer!Options are great! I have brought in family from out of town to check out the beer over the last couple of years as well. I do know that sometimes there are event events in the evening I think trivia or something so if you don't want to be in the middle of that, check out their website. Staff are always super kind and attentive. The ambience some kind of on the fence about. I find it kind of cold and drafty and I don't usually enjoy sitting in there But there's a TV for the bar area and enough space for a lot of people to sit. Hubby ordered a Supreme Pizza, and Aragula Salad. I was too busy, to enjoy my pizza, so I was only able to cut with a knife and fork-eat it, 1/4th because I was doing an event. I thought it was great! I tried the salad, and I liked it, always like Aragula, and it also looked and tasted good, but I couldn't finish it, because I was too busy (customers). Hubby ate the rest of the pizza. We took it home. The following day, we have another event to go to, and weren't home to have it for lunch nor dinner. The salad, by the 2nd day, I wanted to have it for my lunch, and hubby threw it away, he didn't think I wanted it! :( I was so mad! read more

I'm just going to bump up my score for Oakshire Beer Hall to five stars. I definitely think they are worth it for sure from the latest beer experience I had with them as well as previous ones. The latest session involved three different beers, all very good and Steve and I were very impressed. We did have a favorite out of the three and it was a beer that was very appropriate for the season. We had the Big Black Jack which was a pumpkin beer and a very good one thanks to cinnamon and cocoa that was at work here. It also had a dry finish we really liked. A nice dark and smooth beer. The second beer we had was the Fresh Hopped Visit Italia, as the name implies is an Italian Pilsner. A favorite pilsner of mine we liked this one for it's crisp, clean, earthy, piney and floral flavor characteristics. The last beer we had was an IPA, the Goatshire which this version was a collaborative work with Ruse Brewing. I guess there is a series of these and this was our first one. We liked it for it's citrus, piney, sharp and hoppy flavor features all in which were balanced very well. The place is not a very big, but there's plenty of seating. Your order your food and drinks at the bar and you get a number. They have 8 in square feet size that all look yummy. Of course, and the beer it's selection is large with many options to suit every taste. I had the Amber ale that was very good. There is plenty of street parking. After dinner, a friend and I wanted try something different instead of the usual stops. I am slowly bouncing back and venturing out to new places. My friend suggested Oakshire so we ventured out and got a good parking spot. There was outdoor seating but we decided to sit by the bar area for easy beer access. The staff was very friendly and let me try some samples before I made a decision. The beer sample pours are a pretty good size so it can give someone an idea if they want a full pour or not. The winner of the evening for me was the mexican mocha stout. Perfect for this cold winter weather it gave me a great buzz and relaxation. Since we ate dinner already we didn't try what offerings they had. They have HH available but it's only a couple days a week and not daily. The prices vary on the beers ranging usually in the $6-7 tier. There are quite a few options so I look forward to coming back and trying other offerings Oakshire has. read more

How haven't I been here yet? We dropped by on an outing where I was trying to aim us to breweries we'd never hit, and were quite impressed. Good tap list, the food in the area smelled great, and a decent amount of seating both indoor and outdoor. Really liked their smoothie beer line, and the IPAs we tried were solid, too. This place has my favorite beer in Portland. Not an IPA, it's the Amber Ale. Always tastes fresh, delicious and just hits thge spot on a hot day, or a wintery night. I also like those little cookies they have right by the cash register! I usually pair with a sureshot burger, but need to explore the food menu a bit. Oakshire seems like a decent place to imbibe, for those who do that sort of thing. The interior is roomy and warm-looking, and there appears to be ample seating. Selection appears to be wide, as well. I came to see a band play, and they played outside under a tent. The constant downpour made it tricky for them to keep their equipment dry, and the location of the seating (picnic tables) relative to the perimeter of the outdoor tent made it difficult for patrons to stay dry. Also present were lots of children with parents who didn't seem to be all too interested in making sure that they were safe. The children screamed, played, and ran around through the rain and large puddles. This made for a pretty tough time of being able to hear the band, but I don't hold that against the kids, of course. Food-wise, they offer house-made pizzas. These look a whole lot better than they taste, and next time, I'll opt for one of the food carts in the same outdoor area. I appreciated that they had kombucha available, though. read more

Really love their beers! We don't get there too often as we live on the East Coast, but when we are in Portland to visit family, we always love making a stop here. I love their variety of beer -- I'm definitely a sucker for the hazy IPAs but their Italian or Japanese lagers are excellent, too. They have quite a bit of space inside. Always a fun time! read more

Staff is always friendly. They have some pretty decent salads. I'm GF so the food selection is limited but the kale salad is solid, and have good ciders available. The bathroom next to the kitchen was amazingly warm and cozy when we went during the ice/snow storm. 10/10 would pee there again. read more

Love this little beer hall! Husband and I have come several times now for Wednesday night Trivia and it's become our go-to weeknight outing. The first time we came one bartender was less than friendly, so we don't go back to that guy. But otherwise everything is spot-on. Oakshire is a tough one to rate. They have some pretty boring standard beers, but also have some pretty good featured/seasonal/on-offs. Their imperial stouts can be really good, their IPAs hit or miss, sours can be decent but not great, and their public house pale ale is pretty interesting. At least the atmosphere here is much better than their depressing and morose Eugene location. Decent service, fairly nice location with small but nicely set up pub and restaurant space. Our beer connoisseur friends introduced us to the world of fruited smoothie ales during our trip to Portland and my mind is blown. Oakshire offers a few smoothie ales on tap (common tap combination of POG), and I was surprised especially by the raspberry chocolate ale. I originally thought it would taste more like a stout, but it was essentially a deliciously smooth drinking raspberry chocolate mix. I don't know what witchcraft they used to brew this amazing drink, but I can dangerously drink this at all hours. Sadly they didn't have it in can form to bring home.
