I was introduced to Andy Rose ("The Catalog Kid" on eBay) in early 2020 through Charles Flint…read more(Charles Flint Fine Art & Antiques), a well known and highly respected art and antiques dealer in Lenox, MA for over 50 years. Charles had purchased the jewelry, original drawings and contents from the estate of Ruth Berridge, who studied at Rhode Island School of Design (contemporary with my mother, Eve Kleinhandler, RISD 1947). RB designed and made fine jewelry mainly in the 1960's -1970's, including through several renowned department stores. Charles sold numerous of her jewelry items through his antiques store in Lenox, and upon his retirement chose Andy to disperse the remainder of RB's jewelry and drawings on eBay. I first saw a picture of one of RB's wonderful jewelry items online, included in a magazine article mentioning Charles Flint. Charles by then had retired, and upon my inquiry referred me to Andy for follow-up relating to RB's jewelry and drawings available for purchase. I contacted Andy and expressed my interest in Ruth's creations. Andy shared images of many remaining RB pieces to be listed for sale on eBay, and through the following months as the items were listed I developed a close rapport with Andy. I had many questions and requests for information, and we negotiated dozens of jewelry and drawings items listed on eBay (many of which I purchased). Upon reflection (despite a few rough patches in our interactions), I would describe Andy as: honest, candid, to-the-point, reliable, knowledgeable, engaging, reasonable, honest, professional ... and TRUSTWORTHY. Ultimately, I will not do continuing business with anyone who has not earned my trust. I trust Andy. This is my highest recommendation. Thanks for considering my thoughts and comments. They sold my painting for $345. and that left me with $265. I had made myself clear about the sales expectations. They had no right to depreciate my property, and I wonder what the eventual end of the line was for the painting. On the other, hand if it was an honest sale; I could not imagine anyone being so negligent with another's property, in my opinion. When I asked about the negligence, they said they thought I told them to sell it for $345. To the contrary, I made no such direction as my conversations and emails would attest. My wife and I bought this picture in 1956 when we got married.
