Food was mediocre - even the wonton soup was meh. Curry beef was some of the stringiest beef I've had, and not much of it in the dish. The chicken with string beans was acceptable, but could have been so much better. We actually threw away most of it. The only positive is that it was convenient and on my way home. read more

This is the worst place to get food from. The customer service was herendous . I told them that I wanted a dish without onions. When I got my food it was loaded with onions. When I called, the young lady who answered the phone said it's not the end of the world. I have ciliac disease and will be hospitalized. But it's not the end of the world. The food is OK, fresh and well-cooked. If you like Americanized Chinese food then this is the place for you. They're receiving a three star rating because I am comparing their food to that which I had in the San Francisco Bay Area and San Diego. I ordered the Orange Chicken all white meat and it was $16.45. There was 3 or 4 pieces of Chicken in the dish and the other 80% of it was small pieces of fried dough. This is not good food, it is the opposite. I would never consider going to this restaurant again. read more

I have been getting meals occasionaly from this restaurant over the past 10 or more years, and recently, after a long absence, I ordered a bunch of food, sufficient for about five dinner meals, from this restaurant via Door Dash delivery. Well, the restaurant not only prepared the food in record short time despite the fact that it was dinnertime (a busy time), but the quality of the food was nothing short of amazing -- it was even better than I had remembered. So, last evening, I ordered a bunch of food for takeout (pickup), sufficient for about ten meals, with plans to put most of it in my freezer for future meals. Once again, the quality of the food, which was again ready in record short time, was simply amazing. The food items all tasted almost impossibly fresh, and the meal items were impeccably seasoned, and quantities were amazingly large, and best of all, just as has been true of their food at all times across the past 10 years as well, the food contained very little or no MSG, a fact that I appreciate very much! By the way, if you have not yet tried their steamed dumplings and fried dumplings, you may wish to give them a try. They are the very best Chinese dumplings that I have ever tasted in my lfe, and very large. In fact, even though I have a freezer full of bags of frozen MSG-free dumplings from the local Asian markets, I ordered 8 orders of steamed dumplings from Great Wall as part of my massive take-out order last night -- simply because they are amazing! I put six of the 8 orders of dumplings in a freezer for future use, and, after having eaten three of the dumplngs on the spot, I put the other two containers of dumplings in the fridge for more immediate use across the next few days! I am writing this review at 5 AM, an hour prior to my 6 AM breakfast time, but I must confess that I am already eagerly looking forward to my lunch and dinner later today, because each of those meals are gonna consist only of food from my massive food take-out order from Great Wall last night! Bottom line: If I could give this restaurant a star rating of ten stars, I would do so in an instant! Amazing food! Very competent and helpful staff! And, they prepare even large orders in an amazingly short time! What more could I ask? read more

This place is great! I love the general tso chicken. My wife usually gets shrimp and broccoli. This is my favorite Chinese in Frederick. I've been to a few other places that doubt Chinese close to these guys. Service has always been great and prices are fair. read more

I tried this place several years back (2015) and wasn't overly impressed. I decided to give them another try as they're much closer than the place on 7th St. I phoned in an order of a small wonton soup and pork lo mien. My order was ready in less than 10 minutes (18:00 on a Friday night) and was really good. The wontons themselves were thick and the I didn't feel any of those pesky gristle pieces in the pork. Likewise, the pork lo mien was also really good; lots of good pork strips. My overall experience was very good. COVID-19 preparation: they allow people to wait inside for their orders, they constructed a large plexiglass structure for food pick-up and payment. I don't remember seeing anyone in the back wearing a mask though. read more

I have only had the fried dumplings, wonton soup, and shrimp egg rolls. I have only ordered take out. It always comes out in a timely manner and tastes great. I have had better flavored fried dumplings but they are still good. The lunch prices are not bad. Update: I got the general Tso's lunch special. Was enough for two servings for me. BBQ pork was tough and chewy, the Kung Pao Chicken is unbreaded boiled tasteless chicken thigh with beef gravy an cubed vegetables,, not Kung Pao at all...NEVER AGAIN...the sweet and sour soup was good but had chicken and beef in it. Second time trying to get place in the course of a couple years. Couldn't remember what I thought of it so I'm leaving a review so that I never go back. Ordered Kung Pao chicken lunch special and it left a lot to be desired. First off, no soup or spring roll comes with this special. No worries though, for less than $2 I got a small container of it, and it was actually pretty good. However... moving on to the Kung Pao, it was like they boiled the chicken and veggies and then added sauce to it. I carefully checked my meal and there was no charred marks on any of my food. But I saw a gentleman using a wok when I came in. Guess he was just boiling water with it, because he was NOT sauteing anything in it. Decided to give Great Wall a try for lunch. Went in thinking this is going to be a mistake. Ordered Moo goo gia pan with an egg roll. Took a seat at one of the tables and waited for my order. After a couple minutes passed, my food was delivered. It was placed on a styrofoam plate. I'm thinking here we go, but the appearance of the fish really stood out. Everything looked really fresh. Ok time to dive in. Not only did it look fresh it tasted very fresh also. Overall I was eagerly impressed. It was some of the best tasting Moo goo gia pan I've had in years. The egg roll was also nice and crispy and not dripping with grease. I will definitely be returning to try some of their other dishes. read more

Guys, seriously, what gives?!? It's very apparent that all cooks here are not created equal. The food we just had was so flavorless and the shrimp chow mein wasn't even edible. Even the egg role had barely any filling and no flavor. This is also after we had to doctor up our food last time. Sorry, but if I'm paying $30-$40 for takeout, I shouldn't have to finish the job when I get home. I'm leaving 2 stars only because their sweet & sour chicken and fries were tasty so they can at least still deep fry stuff. Saturday Feb 20 our group phoned in a large order-3 apps, 4 entrees, and a soup. The wait time was quoted as 30 minutes but ended up being closer to 50. The place was SLAMMED! Socially distances revolving line out the door of customers as well as GrubHub drivers. We thought this would be a good sign..the food was mediocre. Everything was temperature hot. The crab rangoon were yellow inside, and lacked flavor. The fried wontons had little filling. The egg rolls were very greasy. The most surprising dish was the Hot and Spicy Jumbo Shrimp. It wasn't hot or spicy..and we all agreed it smelled like ketchup. It was covered in diced onions, peas and carrots. The shrimp were large but it was weird. Anyway...the white meat General Tso has decent flavor but it was almost like jerky. I'm big mad at myself for not sticking with my go to Chinese spot but at least I won't have to wonder anymore if it's any good. read more

I work across the street at the Fort and normally bring my own lunch. However, I was working on a weekend and was delayed and decided to pop into the restaurant for a quick carry-out. The establishment looks a little old and not as well kept, and the staff are a bit short-worded, however, the Buddhist Delight tofu and spring rolls were very good. Would definitely visit again. This is our favorite take out and delivery chinese place. Everything I've gotten there has been reliably good (we usually get sesame chicken or general tso's chicken, chicken and broccoli, shrimp with broccoli...) and the delivery driver is super nice and very fast. When I go in to pick up food they always have it waiting, and my order has never been wrong... The only thing I don't like is their egg drop soup. It's way too gelatinous for me. I mean hey, it's Chinese takeout so what do you expect? But I will say that it's quite good being what it is. Portions are generous and delivery is prompt. I've never had any mess ups in my orders, so that's a plus as well. At the location, there are seats to dine in, and it's actually quite a nice atmosphere; they've actually taken the time to make it look more like a restaurant that does delivery, as opposed to a delivery service that offers seating, which is how most Chinese food joints look. I haven't eaten too much other Chinese takeout since I've been here, so I don't have much to compare to, but I wouldn't be ashamed to recommend this to a friend as a decent place to get something to eat. 4/5. read more

This place did not disappoint me at all! We have tried a few places in the area that were 'ok'. But this will be our new favorite spot! The food was ready in a reasonable amount of time (especially for a Saturday night!). The general Tso's was delish! I got it with white rice & it tasted just like it is supposed to. Best Chinese takeout in town. I know a lot of people in the area like China Garden, but I wasn't impressed. Great Wall, on the other hand, is quick, inexpensive and tasty. My go-tos are Broccoli in Garlic Sauce, or General Tso chicken. The combos they offer are great and they give you enough fried rice & chicken to last a couple of lunches. The egg rolls are just right. But the star of the show has to be the sugared donuts -- little round fried balls of sweet doughy heaven. Great with coffee. :) The cream cheese wontons are savory, too! read more

If you're doing a dinner for one you can't beat the combo's at Great Wall. Entree, fried rice and an egg roll for less than $10 is a great deal here. Never disappointed and always full. If it's a choice between Quickway and Great Wall then Great Wall wins hands down. read more
