The service here was poor and the customer service the same. My wife and I use to go here for years but we moved to the other side of Lancaster and have not been here for a while. There were new people and a new owner. They simply ignored us. I noticed that the owner kept asking the lady next to us if everything was okay. ( 6 times total). He also had a conversation with the man behind us. But he absolutely ignored us. So we had are meal, paid, and left No tip. Tips are based on service. If you are going to ignore people for no reason then you deserve Nothing. I recommend people go to The Thai, on Sierra hwy. Great customer service there. read more

I've been coming here for years, don't get me wrong because the food is always great. Today my server was not so great, which is very uncommon for this establishment. We were ignored, left with empty glasses of no water for a long period of time. Waited over 20 minutes for the bill. We have been going there since we moved here in 88 but haven't been here in a year. Got delivery from grub hub and although they were great and on time the food is awful. Take my word for it, it is nothing like it was! @ VK. Business Manager: it looked and tasted horrible. The orange chicken did not have sauce and was all skin. Really wish I could break this review into two parts because the service and prices are great. 5 stars. However... the food and restaurant itself, not so much. The restaurant is dated. Very dated. The decor is shabby and in need of a good cleaning. The dining area is dim. Worst of all, the booths are tiny! Average size people were having a hard time shoving themselves into the booths with bellies flopping onto the tables for larger folks. I say worst, but the floor may be a little worse. It's actually sticky. Highchairs would not even slide. They stuck. Best part about the food was that it's very affordable. The portions are generous and everything was hot and (except maybe the rice) tasted fresh. However, nothing was great. The highlight was actually the egg flour soup. It was served piping hot and had excellent flavor. I had almond chicken which had more water chestnuts than anything. And the hubby had kung pao chicken - nothing to write home about. The Great Wall was once a nice restaurant and one of my wife's favorite local eateries but is now in the "sunken place"! Our $50 order was mostly inedible: 1) soggy, old, clumpy rice that looked as if it was leftovers from a previous meal and that also contained very hard material (possibly uncooked rice). 2) the lemon chicken was nothing more than very dry breaded cutlets that one might find in a grocery store's frozen food aisle with no taste/flavor. 3) the garlic shrimp contained very few shrimp and even less taste/flavor. 4) the "Assorted Appetizers Tray (For Two)" was something that one might find in a grocery store's frozen food aisle with no taste/flavor and the ribs were extremely overcooked (i.e., burnt). Additionally, the egg roll was terribly overcooked and dry with no taste/flavor. Unfortunately, it's unlikely that we'll return to this location. read more

Had to change my review and take away 2 stars. I hadn't been to Great Wall in years but I recently went with some family members who like the place. All you have to do is look around to realize this place is disgustingly filthy! There is dust and grime that has probably built up for years on every surface imaginable. I got sick the last time and I won't be going back. I would have called the health inspector. I order from Great Wall all of the time since their shrimp fried rice is the closest to what I was able to get in LA. I don't ever have bad experiences when it comes to that order. It's simple enough. The thai tea is always good too. Last Sunday, I called in for pickup. This time I opted for the salt & pepper shrimp, orange chicken, and my usual thai iced tea. I asked for my cabbage to be well done/tender and my shrimp well done also. The food was awful. The orange chicken was gummy and dark as if it got cold and was microwaved 10 times before I got to it. The cabbage was nearly raw and not seasoned well. The shrimp batter was on the soggier side. The fried rice that came with the order was overcooked and had an old smell to it. The tea was great, of course. I figured it might have been because they were close to closing that night and I got the short end of the stick. This was my first time having an issue with this restaurant and after spending $27 of my money on food that was basically inedible, I returned to the establishment the following day with the order (because they were closed when I initially wanted to complain). I brought the food in, and the receptionist girl had this really stank disposition about her. She ALWAYS gives me a strange vibe, but on this particular day she was just rude and passive aggressive. I wanted to return the order from the previous night and order my usual shrimp fried rice for lunch. She condescendingly questioned the fact that I still wanted to order food from there and huffed and puffed back and forth between speaking to me and whoever she was talking to in the back, which led to me not even wanting to order anything and telling my boyfriend we should just leave. The way she behaved was totally unacceptable as a person who is hired to be of service to Great Wall's customers and as a person in general. I went in there in an overall good mood, despite being dissatisfied with my order and I left feeling not only robbed, but disrespected. I patronize this business often and unfortunately I will not be returning as long as she is employed there. There is a certain way you treat people and I did not deserve the way she treated me. Especially, since I'm the one who should have been upset in the first place. This was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. I have been eating their food for about 20 years and it has always been acceptable. HOWEVER, that is no longer true. I had their chicken chow mein for lunch today. THERE WERE HARDLY ANY VEGETABLES IN EITHER DISH, perhaps a HALF TEASPOON of grated carrot and a couple of spoonfuls of chicken in the noodles. NO VEGETABLES AT ALL IN THEIR FRIED RICE, not a pea or bit of carrot or chinese cabbage or onion. The rice and noodles were overcooked. When I wanted to return my meal, I realized that they did not give me a receipt. THE MANAGER WAS DISMISSIVE OF MY COMPLAINTS AND WOULD NOT REFUND THE PRICE OF MY MEAL WHEN I BROUGHT IT BACK ABOUT 1/2 hour after picking it up. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. We began with the assorted appetizer and the wor wanton soup. The assorted appetizer was great had a little of everything. The soup was ok so I spices it up with red pepper. For our main course we had shrimp fried rice (decent), mangolian beef (also decent), pork with snow peas (good), orange chicken (it was not breaded like other places but it was good). One of us had a beer while the other had free hot green tea. With plenty left over for one more meal It was extremely affordable since the bill was $52 for al that food. read more

The Sesame Chicken was really good and yummy. I only wish they cut the chicken into smaller pieces. The Cashew Nut Chicken is also good, and they have good wonton soup. The Garlic Chicken wasn't that great. It didn't even taste like Garlic Chicken. The flavor was bland. I won't be getting this dish again, not here. Dishes come standard with Fried Rice. Great Wall has fallen down! It used to be pretty good but today it was awful. Hard and flavorless egg fu young and really blah egg fried rice. Just nasty ***Happy Update*** I took up Kim the managers offer, who was kind enough to remake the egg fu young for me at no charge. He was so gracious and funny and thanked me for posting and allowing him to make up for the egg fu young that was "off" that night. I ordered the egg fried rice and the eggplant in Szechuan sauce as well and I'm happy to report everything was delicious and perfect. To start, I struggled between giving 3 or 4 stars, there's alot of good here but also a few things that left me raising my eyebrow more than once. We had a large party reservation that had some people not showing up on time. The wait staff had no issues with this and promptly sat the first arrivals to a table they already had waiting for us. Service was incredibly hospitable, accommodating and helpful. The only negative we had when it came to the service was that it was not as attentive as most places. I'm wondering if this was due to the wait staff being understaffed since the restaurant wasn't terribly busy. Once everyone was seated our waitress didn't come back for quite some time. I didn't time her, but if I had to guess it was over 10 minutes at least. When she did come back she took our meal order as well as our drink order. Our food came out at a great pace; at no point did any of us have a "Geez, it's been awhile, I wonder where our food is" moment . Drinks came out quickly after our order, as did the second round of refills. However we never given a chance to get a 3rd round. A majority of our party opted for the mandarin dinner option which comes with a soup, and a small plate of various fried goodies for an appetizer as well as fried rice and an entree choice. The appetizer came out in a timely manner, however some of the items left something to be desired. The fried wontons were huge, but only had maybe a thumbnail sized piece of meat inside. Also the filling in the egg roll I received tasted a bit off on the inside so I didn't finish it. However the foil wrapped chicken was amazing, the shrimp was pretty good, and the wonton soup was enjoyed by the whole party. Also the tea that was served was awesome! We ended up draining both pots that we had gotten. I can't speak for the taste of every entree our party received, but everyone ate without complaint and everyone took their leftovers home which I take as a good sign. My husband and I ordered the orange chicken and the beef with green onion. He enjoyed the orange chicken, especially the sauce! His only nit-pick being that he would of liked less breading on the chicken. The beef was delicious in my book; very flavorful, saucy, and not chewy or dried out. The veggies had great integrity; not too soft that they turn to mush. You know, just the right amount of snap back. The biggest testament to it's delciousness is that our 3 year old daughter enjoyed it, and she's in a phase of not wanting to eat new things. I'm definitely looking forward to tearing into those leftovers for breakfast tomorrow. When it comes to rice I'll admit I'm pretty picky, so to me the fried rice was too dry for my liking. However my husband, the rice vacuum, found that though it was a bit dry, it was still decent. The checks and cookies came out well timed. We were there to celebrate my sister in law's birthday so they had given us time to chat amongst ourselves without feeling like we were being rushed out. The waitress also did tableside boxing for everyone's leftovers, which I wasn't expecting at all! Any place that does that gets kudos in my book. As for the overall restaurant cleanliness and appearance, it does need some help. The women's room had a weird funk to it, the non-handicap stall lacked toilet paper, and the paper towel dispenser was empty. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint and the carpets could use a good deep clean or just outright replacement. I used to come here when I was a child and it still looks the same way it did 20 years ago just more worn. I also did notice that the B rating was still posted, though it's been over 24 hours and none of us have had any issues so it's possible that rating wasn't given solely due to poor kitchen practices. Oh, also the pricing is pretty good as far as I'm concerned. Three mandarin dinners, two cokes and a pot of tea was $40 and change. All in all I definitely want to come back, for us the entrees and tea is definitely worth coming back for despite the shortcomings listed. I will admit I was wary of coming here with the recent negative reviews but I'm glad I was proven wrong. Yeah, there are better Chinese restaurants in the world but this one holds up fine. read more

I had order from them through Postmates and they had a deal if you buy more than 15 dollars you get 3 dollars off so I did , then when it can to pay my bill was 18.90 which is total bullshit they had charged me that then I canceled and I still had to pay them and Postmates and I still didn't get my food .
