To start, I struggled between giving 3 or 4 stars, there's alot of good here but also a few things that left me raising my eyebrow more than once. We had a large party reservation that had some people not showing up on time. The wait staff had no issues with this and promptly sat the first arrivals to a table they already had waiting for us. Service was incredibly hospitable, accommodating and helpful. The only negative we had when it came to the service was that it was not as attentive as most places. I'm wondering if this was due to the wait staff being understaffed since the restaurant wasn't terribly busy. Once everyone was seated our waitress didn't come back for quite some time. I didn't time her, but if I had to guess it was over 10 minutes at least. When she did come back she took our meal order as well as our drink order. Our food came out at a great pace; at no point did any of us have a "Geez, it's been awhile, I wonder where our food is" moment . Drinks came out quickly after our order, as did the second round of refills. However we never given a chance to get a 3rd round. A majority of our party opted for the mandarin dinner option which comes with a soup, and a small plate of various fried goodies for an appetizer as well as fried rice and an entree choice. The appetizer came out in a timely manner, however some of the items left something to be desired. The fried wontons were huge, but only had maybe a thumbnail sized piece of meat inside. Also the filling in the egg roll I received tasted a bit off on the inside so I didn't finish it. However the foil wrapped chicken was amazing, the shrimp was pretty good, and the wonton soup was enjoyed by the whole party. Also the tea that was served was awesome! We ended up draining both pots that we had gotten. I can't speak for the taste of every entree our party received, but everyone ate without complaint and everyone took their leftovers home which I take as a good sign. My husband and I ordered the orange chicken and the beef with green onion. He enjoyed the orange chicken, especially the sauce! His only nit-pick being that he would of liked less breading on the chicken. The beef was delicious in my book; very flavorful, saucy, and not chewy or dried out. The veggies had great integrity; not too soft that they turn to mush. You know, just the right amount of snap back. The biggest testament to it's delciousness is that our 3 year old daughter enjoyed it, and she's in a phase of not wanting to eat new things. I'm definitely looking forward to tearing into those leftovers for breakfast tomorrow. When it comes to rice I'll admit I'm pretty picky, so to me the fried rice was too dry for my liking. However my husband, the rice vacuum, found that though it was a bit dry, it was still decent. The checks and cookies came out well timed. We were there to celebrate my sister in law's birthday so they had given us time to chat amongst ourselves without feeling like we were being rushed out. The waitress also did tableside boxing for everyone's leftovers, which I wasn't expecting at all! Any place that does that gets kudos in my book. As for the overall restaurant cleanliness and appearance, it does need some help. The women's room had a weird funk to it, the non-handicap stall lacked toilet paper, and the paper towel dispenser was empty. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint and the carpets could use a good deep clean or just outright replacement. I used to come here when I was a child and it still looks the same way it did 20 years ago just more worn. I also did notice that the B rating was still posted, though it's been over 24 hours and none of us have had any issues so it's possible that rating wasn't given solely due to poor kitchen practices. Oh, also the pricing is pretty good as far as I'm concerned. Three mandarin dinners, two cokes and a pot of tea was $40 and change. All in all I definitely want to come back, for us the entrees and tea is definitely worth coming back for despite the shortcomings listed. I will admit I was wary of coming here with the recent negative reviews but I'm glad I was proven wrong. Yeah, there are better Chinese restaurants in the world but this one holds up fine. read more

I had order from them through Postmates and they had a deal if you buy more than 15 dollars you get 3 dollars off so I did , then when it can to pay my bill was 18.90 which is total bullshit they had charged me that then I canceled and I still had to pay them and Postmates and I still didn't get my food . Just how I remembered it from 20+ years ago. That's how long it's been since I've eaten at this restaurant. Unfortunately the venue looks like it's 20+ years old (lol!)....but the food is still amazing. Growing up in Palmdale, this was my favorite Chinese restaurant. I was in the Lancaster area and decided to stop by and boy am I glad I did. Ordered my favorite dish.. the crispy duck.. and it was cooked to perfection.. crispy on the outside.. moist in the inside (Highly recommended!). Also ordered the sweet and pungent shrimp...both my toddler kids said that it was the "best shrimp dish they've ever had" - lol. I was also impress with the drink selections (full bar)...much more variety than your typical Chinese restaurant. Tried the milk tea boba and it was actually really good. I have been eating at Great Wall since I moved here in 87.. they have wonderful food! My favorite place for Chinese food! BUT , I ordered take out during covid, it seemed like the food was left over.. it was awful, I called and complained, the gentleman that answered the phone made all kinds of excuses.. but I always loved their food.. so I recently stopped by to eat inside.. and I was happy that the food was good.. BUT THE RESTAURANT IS DISGUSTING, there was old food under the glass they put on the tables, I don't think they have ever spent any money updating the place, the bathrooms are so gross.. and the old pink walls in the dining area are dated and faded, the decor is old and falling apart.. I usually order the dinner combination for pickup, good food at a great value. When dining in, its the place your grandma from the AV loved, and well, they haven't changed a thing. Like its still the same carpet from who knows when. To me this is quintessential of craft Chinese food and its no bother. I love that they advertise Hennessy on the drink menu. Yes the restaurant is dated, and the service is sometimes awesome and sometimes mediocre, but I go to a restaurant for the food and it's great. Okay, wow where do I start.... The place looked very typical Chinese restaurant decor. They had on soft traditional oriental music. Walking in I was ready to get my Chinese tastebuds socks knock off. I felt Panda Express this more authentic then this place, need I say more? Extremely overpriced for what it is. I was told by my server that this was not authentic Chinese food and that they are very Americanized an order to serve the clientele in the area and that I should not keep my expectations high if I have eaten in Chinatown. Yes that is correct, jaw-dropping comment by the server. My eyes rolled in back of my head and my head was literally about to implode" My wife had to clam me down, as I was contemplating walking out. Now the fun stuff, the food; I tried to comparable the pan fried noodles to something I eaten in the past and the only thing that came to mind was styrofoam, seriously not an understatement. I asked my wife does this taste like styrofoam? She reply, yes. I know it sounds crazy right, but completely true. In addition to that I order shrimp and lobster sauce dish and a broccoli and shrimp dish and seriously they both taste exactly the same WTF! There was no difference other than I have broccoli in one dish. It's gets better, I ordered wonton soup with noddles and it seriously was like eating spaghetti noddles and wontons. They used real spaghetti pasta in my soup, no joke " I was completely mortified and disgusted beyond words. I do not recommend this place for human consumption. It is definitely a place you would want to take an enemy or ex-girlfriend or boyfriend you hate or something like that. No stars if I could, I will never ever be back. I have eaten here numerous times. The food was always satisfactory. But my last experience was very different. I ordered curry chicken. It was not as described by the waiter but the sauce was tasty so I accepted it. The first bite of chicken made me totally regret my decision. It was chewy like chicken skin. Thought I would continue, maybe second piece would be better. Couldn't chew it...very overcooked. Okay, I'll fill up on fried rice. Nope...what looked burnt bottom of pan was mixed throughout rice. I have only found restaurant food uneatable twice in my life. Last night was one of those times. Deluxe Chow Mein was soggy and tasteless with no sign of meat or vegetables. Came here on New Years and the food and service was excellent. Guess it was a fluke. Got the assorted appetizer plate and everything was Luke warm I think that was due to our waitress forgetting about us. But the fried shrimp on the appetizer plate was still doughy and the egg rolls felt like they had just been microwaved. I also ordered the broccoli beef plate and again Luke warm. We get take out here about once a month. Always get the Assorted Appetizer Tray, Crispy Duck, Walnut Shrimp, General Tso Chicken, Deluxe Rice, Deluxe Low Mein. Ever since this restaurant has been around I've been going to it. But since a few recent experiences, never again The first time I politely asked my waitress if we could have more water, she said yes and came back with a pitcher of water. She refilled everyone else's, EXCEPT MINE! just skipped right over me. Then today I had horrible service. I found a dark hair in my food, mind you i have bright purple hair. They tried to tell me it was mine. I told the older bus boy and he turned around and told my waitress "go deal with her". She came over to me and asked "I heard you have a hair in your food" and took it and walked away. She came back immediately with THE SAME PLATE! Just that one peace of chicken removed. If I could give this place no stars I would, the customer service is none existing. I ordered to go and they made us wait when I asked if our order was sitting on the table by the host and the host said no. So we waited 15-20 minutes and she grabbed our order off the front table where it was cold. They were busy so we moved out of the lobby to our vehicle so we did not take up any more room they were not doing social distancing nor following any local health guidelines. I called to talk to the manager and he said it was my fault that they messed up and were missing almost the whole order I told him we were just outside and to fix it or refund us and he said no not their problem. I checked how much they charged my credit card and my credit card company said that they also charged me too much and changed the tip amount. I am be disputing the charge (my credit card said that its fraudulent just based on the fact that they are charging for a product that I didn't get let alone all the other issues) I will also be informing the county health department which I have video of the lobby situation with guests crammed into, not wearing masks and completely unable to social distance and the BBB. The food was nasty... It came out fast, which was kind of odd... But it was extremely salty, greasy and not quite piping hot.. like someone ordered and cancelled and they brought it to us instead. The Orange Chicken was brown and dry, Chow Mein Deluxe was cold and soggy.... I just wasn't impressed at all. My waitress didn't bring water, tea, place settings, chop sticks, or requested items... it was the bus boy. She never checked back with us until she brought the bill.. never a refill, "is everything okay?".. nothing. I hope this isn't all Lancaster has to offer because if so, I'm sad. Very, very sad. Plus side: the bus boy (young Hispanic guy) was SUPER helpful. He brought everything to the table that the waitress did not. He's really awesome. Update: Apparently the owner doesn't take well to negative feedback and will send you rude messages if you have anything to say that isn't what he likes. Went to lunch and got the chow mien lunch special. Great value and the chow mien was yummy! It is the chow mien w beansprouts not the kind W noodles. Which is exactly what I like! The special came with egg roll, soup and I think it was won ton? I dont care for won ton, so can't judge it. But the rest was good. Can hardly wait to go back! I went with a friend. The total for two people was 13 dollars. What a great bargain! I'll be back to try more items! read more
