I went to Great Wave 3 times for a basic pedicure. My technician was Kim. I asked at the end of my first appointment how much the service cost. Kim informed me $45.00. I gave her that in cash plus a $10.00 tip. The second time I went I paid the same and gave the same tip. The third time I went I again asked the price and was told $45.00. I gave that to Kim in cash and saw her take some money and put it in her pocket. I also gave her a $10.00 tip.I came home and checked the website for the prices and saw that it said $35.00 for a pedicure. So I called the store to ask the current prices of a basic pedicure and was told $35.00. I told the manager that I had been overcharged by Kim three times. She said to come in the next day when Kim was working. Well I did go in and told Kim that she had been over charging me for pedicures and she looked me in the eye and denied it!!! She then went back to her customer and was bad mouthing me and saying to her customer, "have I ever charged you $45.00"? The manager did give me a credit but I'm so upset that Kim outright denied overcharging me and then bad mouthed me to her customer! She is overcharging cash customers and then pocketing the difference! read more

I posted the purple nails My nails are uneven They are thick and thin I spent $40 plus a tip for a fill, gel, "Maintaining shape" and a cutdown I did not get. My nails are always exposed on the side The lady by mirror always does a shit polish job My nails are not evenly coated with acrylic She did not bother removing all the polish from my previous color. And my nails are always different shapes (circular and almonds) I always go here because my mother wants to go. I always get the same lady, and she is terrible. Went for the first time based on recommendations and will never be going back. The lady who did my nails was beyond rude and rushed. I asked for a line on one nail and when she tried it and I wasn't happy, instead of cleaning it off she just went over it with another coat of nail polish to cover it up so I had a huge bump on my nail. My nails were sloppy, uneven, not even fully painted and the woman couldn't care less. My assumption is because she believed I was young, she could rush through to get to the next client and I wouldn't complain. She couldn't jump fast enough to the next client. The only saving grace is that the owner saw how angry I was and offered to redo them for me. But that was on Saturday, it's now Monday and they chipped already. read more

its ok here. the nails, 5 stars , the place itself, 4. she did my nails perfectly and was so nice. seat number 2 btw. in the bathroom, you can see the water heater, shelves are gross, and the wall has some type of stuff on it. you can see the washing machine and there's is unorganized junk. on the other-side, they clean of the materials and tabletop before you get the nails done and they are extremely good with little kids. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. This was the WORST acrylic fill I have ever gotten. My nails are now misshapen, none of them are even, the white color of my French is patchy/streaky. The woman doing my nails kept trying to get me to have something different done to my nails (different color, style, etc.) They other woman working there just sat on the pedicure chairs with her bare feet up on another chair, eating a bag of chips. I have been going to this salon for 10 years. I have never had a problem with my nails. I had previously had been at a salon for years and got a fungus twice. That's when I left and went to Great Wave. My nails always look good and they last at least three weeks!! read more

Not impressed. Cleanliness is extremely important to me when it comes to nail salons and this one seemed to have the equipment to clean the tools, but it was not in use. All techs have their own "bags" of tools and they did not clean them at all. My pedi and gel mani was completely rushed. My pedi was sloppy and the mani was done with a nude but not enough coats were applied. I was also extremely rushed when picking my color. The tech picked my gel color but I did not like it and it was as if I was wasting her time. For the same cost for this service, I can go onto LBI and get better customer service and a cleaner salon. read more

My 17 year old daughter went for the first time to have a fill and design done. She was by herself. The girl painted her nails so bad that they were not even and had bubbles in the polish. My daughter being the quiet person she is came home and ask me to call and complain. I did. The owner said for her to come back in the same day to redo them. I could not go with my daughter I was working. So she went later that same day. Needless to say they charged her for a re- polish. The girl who did her polish said the owner shouldn't charge her but she did. When I found out I went there after work and blew my top. She took advantage of my daughter because of her age. Charges her 14$ for polish besides what she spent there earlier that same day. About $ 57 total less tip. I demanded all her money back that she Spent there that day and got it. I will never set foot in that place again for the way they treat people. And the bad service. read more

Decided to try a different place to get my nails done so, I came here. As soon as I walked in I was really surprised by how horrible this place looked. Dirty! Nail polishes on the wall looked old. Bottles had polish all over the outside of them. The dryer stations were dirty. The decor in this place is so lacking. The washer and dryer are in plain view. There was stuff laying all over the place. The polishes in the window case to purchase looked so old. The walls are white with ugly mirrors. Ugly plants hanging from the ceiling. Poor ventilation too. I will never go to this place again. It needs a major facelift!! I was not impressed with the manicure either. I had to put one star, only because site wouldn't let me post without putting at least one. I give it no stars!! read more

This is by far the best nail salon I've been to. They really take their time and offer free touch ups if you break a nail. They also offer water and soda to clients while they wait or get their nails done. Was very impressed, they were willing to answer questions and the one girl I went to also bought her own colors for her clients. read more

I went to Great Waves today based on an old review, but I won't be going back. I was directed to a pedicure chair where I noticed that the footbath was less than clean. I pointed it out to the technician, and she halfheartedly cleaned it. The tools the technician grabbed from her basket were obviously used previously but not sterilized. When I questioned her about this, she said she sprays them with alcohol. (I am a bit paranoid about manicures/pedicures since my sister works in public health and has relayed horror stories from bad salons.) The woman did a so-so pedicure, and then directed me to her manicure station. Again, I was less than impressed with the level of cleanliness. The woman keeps a large container of sunflower seeds at her station, and several of the shells littered the floor under her chair and table. The manicure was also just so-so. When the manicure was finished, I was directed to the drying station. Since the technician didn't have another customer, she sat at her station and proceeded to use her IPad. I think her time would have been better spent cleaning. If the owner/manager allows this behavior from employees, it's easy to see why this salon is so dirty. Furthermore, all of the technicians spoke to each other in their language, and there was very little interaction with customers. I found this a bit rude. (My regular salon at home is owned by a woman whose native language is not /English, but her technicians all speak English, for the most part, in front of customers.) I would love to know of better salons in this area. read more

I went to Great Wave Nails for 10 years and last year I stopped. The cleanliness of the salon became a real problem. I was a very loyal customer. I was there every 2 weeks religiously and got a manicure, pedicure and wax. The last year or so that I used Great Wave I noticed the technicians seemed to care less and less. Instead of cleaning the salon on their down time they would watch shows on their tablets or eat food in front of customers. The worst culprit of this was the owner herself! She had her laptop set up and seemed more interested in watching her soap operas than ensuring her business was running professionally!! The tools they used are not cleaned properly, the pedicure baths are also not cleaned properly. If I had continued to go there, it wasn't a matter of if I was going to get a fungi or infection but when. Their quality of work also went down hill drastically. Again because I think the technicians are more worried about lounging in the pedicure chairs and watching TV then taking care of their customers. I'm so disappointed in Christine and her staff for allowing this to happen. I won't step foot in there until I hear that they have cleaned up their act, literally. read more
