You might be confused by mixed reviews. I will sum them up for you quickly. The service is one of the friendliest I have ever seen in any restaurant, the place is insanely clean (especially for Chinese takeout), and the food isn't overly greasy. If you're used to greasy Chinese takeout, you might feel as though it's missing some taste, but my meal was super clean & tasty! That meal was General Tso's with Lo Mein (no vegetables, other than cooked green peppers that came with the chicken, which was very good). This is the first time someone at a Chinese takeout place asked me what spice level I wanted. I like spicy food but she recommended I start with 1 on a scale of 1-5. I said sure. There was no spice at all, which was a first for me for General Tso's, but it was still very good. The Lo Mein noodles were also solid--not literally but in taste quality. About a year ago, I ordered Wonton Soup from here and wasn't crazy about it. I had no intentions of eating here again but I recently left a toxic environment (work-related) and this led to my calm side kicking back in. This side has also led to me believing in second chances (and forgiveness--to an extent). So, I gave Great Wok a second chance and it paid off. Therefore, maybe this is more than a review for a Chinese takeout place and a life message since you're reading this. A crazy side note but it's 100% real: Their water from the tap is amazing. Been here many times, and the quality of the food has gotten so bad the last 3 times. No chicken in the fried rice, vegetables under cooked, Kung Pao chicken portion was basically a container of white rice and a very small portion of Kung Pao under the rice, that we used to get in a full separate container. We will never visit here again, DO NOT SUPPORT this establishment. So disappointed and when we brought the food back they treated us unprofessionally. NEGATIVE STARS! Ugh, this was sub par Chinese food at best. First it came in flimsy Styrofoam plates. The Teriyaki chicken was chunky and dry, the white rice for all our dishes was over cooked and mushy, and the Asian beef was like jerky. 10/10 would not reccomend. read more

I've ordered a few times at Great Wok. Mediocre food that doesn't bring much to your table as far as quality. I know it's a take out place, but I haven't had much luck ordering food her. This time, it was the honey chicken. It was chicken sliced thin and deep fried. It was like eating jerky. My Jaws were tired after 2 minutes trying to chew it. I was thrilled to try a new place close to work... it's not huge and wasn't busy. However when you order sweet n sour chicken, there possibly ought to be some sweet n sour sauce, one might think. There was not. I did get duck sauce, soy sauce and spicy mustard. Also, only a fork when I ordered soup. Also, the teriyaki beef appetizer isn't remotely worth your money, and truthfully was not that great. The white rice was on the overcooked side. Service is fast and the restaurant is clean. Its cozy and conviniently located in a busy plaza. The staff took the order fast and had it ready in minutes. As for the taste, its so so. Im very suprised since they are competing with 2 other asian restaurant that also offer chinese dishes. The spice level is also very mild for a 4 out of 5 spicy level. While you have to appreciate the attempt to add lots of meat, I ordered A large portion of beef and mixed vegetables there was literally four small pieces of broccoli and four snow peas in the entire dish. It was so loaded up with bamboo shoots water chestnuts and carrots and literally had nothing else. The meet was so over cooked and waterlogged, there was like no flavor to the dish whatsoever. I've been eating at Great Wok since they were originally located in Concord. Now they're in Mooresville and I still visit monthly bc it is hands down the BEST Chinese food in the Carolinas! The sesame chicken is my favorite. Love the scallion chicken. And I CRAVE the egg rolls regularly. I always get two for myself when I go bc they're SO good! I find the food greasy, and typical for a Chinese restaurant in a strip mall (unflavorful and often stale tasting, like it's leftovers...) I have to say I'm a little disappointed. The only reason I am giving it 3 stars is because the Honey Chicken was fantastic. I ordered around 8pm last night. My order did not get delivered until 9:12pm. I ordered Chicken With Broccoli, Honey Chicken With White Rice, Egg Drop Soup and An Egg Roll. The Chicken and Broccoli was not good at all. The chicken was a bit rubbery and chewy and just wasn't the authentic feel I was hoping for. The Broccoli was also a bit on the underdone side. The egg roll just wasn't what I was hoping for. It had mainly cabbage and not much of anything else inside. Considering this I will be ordering again. Just not the Chicken With Broccoli. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. Love this place!!! Unlike many other Asian restaurants this place is very clean and have good food handling. They don't mind giving extra sauce on the side if you request. There is this town in the middle of nowhere in Georgia (seriously, even the walking dead will not go there) but yet they have a Chinese restaurant and I have to say before today, I consider that Chinese restaurant as the worse Chinese food ever but boy oh boy Great Wok just made that restaurant looks like PF Chang or Panda Express Let's get the positive out first, the lady who took my order over the phone was very nice and sweet. Polite and promised me the food will be at my hotel room within 45 minutes. After about an hour the delivery girl showed up, she was very nice too, apologized for being late since it was a busy night at the restaurant, which I understand. However after I taste the food I felt like well like the backstreet boys once sang: Sometimes I wish I could turn back time, Impossible as it may seem But I wish I could so bad, baby I wish I could turn back time and listened to myself because I was right, when you see a Chinese restaurant also offers Pad Thai, this is a warning sign! It's like going to Outback Steak house seeing them also offering Chinese food.... But since they are the only Chinese restaurant in the area that delivers I told myself to give them a try, what are the chances that their food won't taste good? Boy was I wrong about that! We ordered the following: Cream wonton: To be fair, no matter which restaurant you order from they all taste the same! Well okay okay, taste almost the same. It is cream cheese inside wonton wrap, you can do it yourself! No really! if you know where to get the wonton wrappers and with a deep fryer you are in business! Egg rolls: I bet they get a good deal from their salt supplier because they put so much salt in the lettuce like its free! it was so so salty even the sweet sauce cannot change the salty taste! Kong Pao Chicken: all I taste is the hot chili sauce they put in there. They went cheap on the salt, in fact I think they forgot to put salt in. It was so spicy I couldn't eat it. I think their chili sauce must be expiring like tomorrow, so the chef just dumped them all into my dish Mongolian beef: I didn't know this was a dessert item. So so so freaking sweet and the beef was drrrrry! Maybe the chef got the inspiration from watching Friends Season 6 Episode 9: Rachel makes an English Trifle for dessert, but gets the recipe mixed up with a Shepard's Pie... I am just saying.... House special chow mein: What the F^%$ is this! I opened it up all I see is a pile of something that looks like vomit with 2 shrimp on top. Chow mein is nowhere to be found maybe it magically turned into white rice.... I thought they must have put the wrong order but nope outside of the box wrote: house special chow mein.... Since when chow mein = white rice? We didn't even bother to eat it since we not even sure what we will be eating...well except the two shrimp I sincerely hoping the chef of this restaurant goes back to cooking school learn how to cook real Chinese American food, maybe go work for Panda Express for couple of months? Please improve let the people of Mooresville taste real Chinese food rather than this crap....sorry P.S. Great Wok has been in Mrsvl for 10 years, so they must be doing something right. The location is easy to get to, in the Harris Teeter shopping center on Brawley/Williamson and parking is no prob. The restaurant is very clean and the menu is big and clear. All food is cooked to order and another diner even told me they make special dishes for her kids (smaller, not full of certain veggies her kids won't eat) and they have daily lunch specials. Most dishes come in small or large sizes and the small is even a ton of food. I like the chicken lo-mein but want a bit more flavor; my husband really, really likes it. I like the flavor of the orange chicken but find it to be a bit tough. The general tso and pepper chicken are good. No extra charge for steamed rice. For lunch we get a drink, a small order of noodles and a small entree (which comes w/rice and roll) for $12 and have way more than we can eat. We typically leave w/enough food for another meal. The best part: the owner is so, so friendly and helpful. 5 stars for service, 3.5 stars for food. read more

This was my first time ordering from Great Wok, and I was very pleased with the overall experience. I ordered at 8:00 on Sunday night and the food was prepared quickly and it was ready in about 15 minutes. The website was very easy to navigate and easy to place a take out order. The House Special fried rice some of the best fried rice I have ever had- fried rice with chicken, beef and shrimp. The egg rolls were delicious, and the cream cheese wontons were on point. I ordered the beef and mushrooms and the meat was quality and the mushrooms were very well cooked. It is served with plain fried rice, but the rice seemed more like a filler and was not at the level of the House Special rice. The service was extremely friendly and I am excited to try more meals on the menu. Great Wok will now become my go-to take out place. read more

Placed a pick up order on a Friday night and was told it would be ready in 20-25 minutes(surprising because I thought it would be a longer wait). Lo and behold...upon arrival 30 minutes later, my order was NOT ready. Not only was it not ready....but they hadn't even started making it! An hour after the order was placed, I finally received my order. The portions are pretty small, like lunch portions. I ordered delivery last night to the Holiday Inn Express off Exit 36 (Norman Station Blvd). As a note, they only deliver to about a 5-mile radius. This is exactly what you'd expect from a take-out Chinese place; no more, no less. I received my order a little over an hour after I'd called. They had messed up one item, but after reviewing the receipt I saw that they had just written down the order incorrectly. I got the House Special fried rice (instead of lo mein), the Great Wok special, the cream cheese wontons, and some egg rolls. The two entrees were very salty (I would not get again), but portions were good for the prices. The fried rice is HUGE for the regular size. The cream cheese wontons (substitute for crab rangoons I imagine) were very good - light and crispy and served with sweet and sour sauce. The egg rolls are also very large. I recommend if you are craving some Chinese take-out quickly and want a good deal for your cash. If you're looking for some authentic or quality dishes you are better off looking to a sit-down restaurant. read more

Looked online at their menu and had a menu I pick up from the restaurant about a month ago. I called and ask about the priced difference (online was higher) and the female on the phone explained it was a different company online that takes their orders, and then in the same breath insulted me. I decided to order by phone anyway due to the high praises on google. When I arrived to pick up my food they didn't have the order ready, and then when I received it, it was not correct. Assuming it was the same female from the phone, that I asked about my order, barely got our an apology. Finally with my order complete I headed home to try it. They are pretty skimpy on the chicken and the taste was mediocre at best. I may try again with a different dish, but the female at the front, should learn some customer etiquette. read more
