Summary: Food was bad. Restaurant was dirty. Details: We got sesame chicken and an egg roll. The egg roll was terrible tasting. The fried rice was plain yellow rice with nothing mixed in. The plastic knives and forks were so cheap they all broke when we used them. The napkins they give you are as thin as gas station toilet paper. Most orders are takeout, and for good reason: the 10 little booths they have are dirty and the floor was dirty and the whole place is just totally uninviting.

Very Disappointed with both Service and Food Quality. I've dined at this restaurant a number of years ago and while I don't remember the specifics, I remember it as being OK. My former neighbor in Cornelius before we moved raved about the restaurant so we decided to give it a try today. Granted we are still in restrictions due to Covid-19 and these folks take it all the way. Front Door is open but a wooden partition is inserted into the doorway space. Sliding door on the upper right to pay for the food and a shoot where the food is dropped so you can pick it. You talk to the young lady through the partition and place you order. I can live with that part because I believe it being safe during this time. Needless to say, the dining area I dined in years ago is closed off so you end up outside. Good except today at 11am, it was 32F My wife ordered the Chicken Moo Goo Gai Pan and I ordered my favorite Mongolian Beef. When I paid, the young lady said I could wait in my car and it would be about 10 minutes. 10 minutes later I get out of the car and walk up to the front which by that time had got fairly busy. Stood there in the cold for 10 minutes and finally went back to the car to get warm. This time, my wife went to the front and she had to wait 5 minutes. 10+10+5 = 25 which is not 10. Drove home for lunch which fortunately is only 5 minutes away. Re-plated and sat down from lunch. Susan had better luck that I did. She indicated her Moo Goo Gai Pan was very good and she enjoyed it. On the otherhood, my Mongolian Beef left much to be desired. Extremely bland and zero heat to it. Basically an amorphous tasteless presentation. Serving sizes are very large which is good for my wife because she's having it again for dinner. I have some from lunch but not sure if I want to revisit that meal again. If this review was only based on my meal, I would have only given it a one. Since my wife liked her meal , it knocked it up to a 2 star rating.

Highlighted time up top shows where I called 19 minutes before closing.

This place is listed to close at 10pm mind you. I had to work late tonight and my kids were hungry so I tried to quickly put a order in to go to get the kids something with 20 minutes to spare and the lady that answered was extremely rude saying "they not putting in no more orders as they close in 5 minutes and the men already started cleaning" I had to look at the time again and i tried to apologize at the late minute call but said I called with 20 minutes to spare. I know the frustration with trying to clean up early and getting another call before closing to try to get out of there right at 10 but the rudeness and being hung up on was what got me. Last thing I'd say is what goes around comes around. I know she didn't know I was the person that used to work in the vape shop right next to them and when those "guys" got off work at 10 I would have the vape shop door locked but they'd knock on the door after hours and I'd still open it up for them and get them their parliaments to help them out and they paid with cash so I'd have to count out the register again but all is good and instead of serving up till 10 as stated on the website they stop service way early and the lady is rude.

The description for the Sesame Chicken must have been written by a Hemingway ancestor.

Great food , the moo goo was the best I've ever had. My normal go to eating Chinese is shrimp chow main.

They don't train their new staff properly apparently. Placed an order, got home and it was wrong and the only excuse was "she was new"

They've opened so customers can go inside to pick up food, but still no dining in. The sign said to wear masks to come in.

My partner enjoyed a Spicy Thai Pineapple Shrimp entre that he reported to be just right on the spice he loves to have firey and super flavorful. My stomach these days cannot handle much fire and spice & that was no problem at all. The chef adjusted my Thai Seafood Special Delight in Spicy House Brown Sauce to a tasty House Brown Sauce without the bite but with lots of luscious flavor. Yum! I could not eat it all of course, so I'm going to be in heaven all day tomorrow with our leftpvers. And the real treat of the night was the Naruto appetizer featuring chunks of various tuna & other fresh fish bites wrapped in cucumber with veggies and fruit, Wow! I was delighted. And the "Oh, My God" sushi roll was delicious as well. Still I am surprised at how the Naruto turned out to be my favorite spot light of the meal. The owners, chefs, servers, and all staff look out for their customers needs with genuine care and attention. I really like all of the employees in this business, which very much works like a close family. Rice Box is our favorite Asian Restaurant in Denver. And we love the variety offered in this casual dinning environment that features (1) a long bar for drinks and watching the sue chef's skills, (2) movable cozy tables for 2 or 4 that can be pushed together, and (3) booths that include booth table combos along a front and back wall, with table portions that can also be pushed together for medium to larger size parties. Food and beverage-wise, there's something for everying in this welcoming environment. I love it!

It was off hours, like 4pm, so we got the dinner portions. I must say, the portions are remarkably large and quite a value. I was able to eat a full meal, save the rest, and eat another full meal the next day. Same for each of the other dishes ordered. The egg drop soup was of the style i appreciate, I got the chicken chow mein, it was great. Good ratios of meat and noodles and veggies, cooked perfect and full of good flavor. My wife got the General Tso's, it was above average for that dish. I had some on the third leftovers. My oldest got a bento box, and it was larger than they expected as well. My youngest i forget her dish, but she enjoyed it. For a weird time the staff was great, very attentive either out of boredom or just that's how they do things there. It is busy enough that plenty of other people had also called in for takeout. The price was higher than I thought it would be by a significant margin; I thought something was off but then rechecking their menu I saw it was indeed $20 for a vegetable entree. On the upside, they did offer brown rice at no extra charge. Still, I'll get three meals out of it and as someone who eats a lot of takeout, this was not a great value. In terms of quality, I was thrilled to find that they offered a stir-fried okra dish. This is a ubiquitous Indian dish, and of course okra is common throughout the tropics globally, but I'd never seen this offered at a Chinese restaurant before. And the rapid cooking technique typical of the cuisine produced a delightfully crisp vegetable, which went great with a black bean sauce and some very hot dried chilis. On the other hand, their interpretation of ma po tofu had some fermented broad beans but minimal vegetables (sometimes you get mushrooms or peas or at least some leeks or something) and no numbing sensation. They had a bean curd roll dish that I enjoyed, and some quality dumplings. Overall, not huge portions and a mix of okay to great quality.
