And every time I call member services I get put on hold for ever, and an apology and a different answer as to why my account is unavailable. I go to a bank branch at Los Altos, and the person working at the bank asks me why I'm there and asks that it takes 30 minutes to make a loan payment. This is a terrible experience as well as an extremely rude and unprofessional employee. There set up is complete unreasonable, and now I am in my car speaking to a video in the public about making payments etc to loans. There is no privacy. My settings kept randomly resetting to default, which means inactivating notifications when I was charged AND reactivating overdraft charges. On top of this, I was charged a $35 overdraft fee TWICE. Worst customer service ever. We were finally waited on 45 minutes after our appointment time to open his account only to spend 2 hours with a lady who tried to sell us everything under the sun. She said his ATM card was ready for use but the next day we tried to use it and it will not work. The automated online service will not allow us to set up a PIN even though I have been sent countless times by a live person to the automated service. I have tried calling them exactly 9 times, have gone to the local branch, begged and cried and no one will help me with his ATM card. Nothing should be this difficult. Joined this CU 16 years ago while still living in another state. Retired and living full time in Reno area. We sold our out of state home on moving here but I REFUSE to put the money in this facility. No matter how simple the transaction was it always turned into a dog and pony show at the counter. Always. Yesterday while trying to deposit $9,000 cash to cover a check I was going to write became the usual nightmare. "Your not on the account, cant find you". its something like that every time that turns a simple thing into a prolonged nightmare. You never know which direction the curveball is coming from. This review is for GNCU as a whole and not necessarily this location. I was a part of another credit union for many years - one that I grew up with where they knew my name and offered truly 1:1 support that I trusted. When GNCU took over that all changed and you are absolutely just a number. I have never had an overly positive interaction here and truly if it wasn't such a hassle - I would close my accounts. My mom closed down her accounts here three years ago when she moved out of state. She was on my account as a minor but had been off of my accounts for a long time. When she moved back and opened up an account - they automatically put her back on my accounts - WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. She has access to all of my accounts even though I'm 30 years old and didn't authorize it. I reach out to GNCU - their response? Well when you were apart of frontier financial - she was on your account (20+ years ago) so you'll have to make an appointment and come in person to take her off. This is a long one, bear with me folks. I switched to GNCU when I moved to Reno 2 years ago. The Mobile banking is nice, but the customer service when you need to talk to an actual person- is non existent. When I was initially bank shopping I had to make an appt just to discuss opening an account. At my appt the lady I worked with was helpful and boasted all sorts of perks for being a RN. Two years later, yet to see any of those promised perks. Every single time I have tried to get through to a representative on the phone, I get an error message or a message telling me I need to make an appt to speak with a person. I am a federal employee and I work bank hours, this is not often possible for me to do. I got a call on Friday that my debit card had suspicious transactions so I listened to the recording (not a real person) telling me about said transactions, which I contested and so they blocked my card. And from there I was not given any direction in how to obtain a new card. I called every number I could find online for this bank. Most of these numbers don't lead to anywhere- just operator tones saying the number can't be completed. Apparently I have to leave work to go to the GNCU office to make an appt to again leave work another day just to request a replacement debit card. This is outrageous and really doesn't incentive doing business here. Edited to Add- when I went to the bank (Sierra Parkway location) to request my new card, I was one of at least 30 people there, at the same exact time, to get a new card. We were told that GNCU had experienced a major data breech over the weekend and many debit cards needed replaced. From the talk in line, people either had the same autocall I did or they went to use their debit card and suddenly- it just didn't work. I waited in an imaginary line that never moved and eventually had to leave, exasperated, to get back to work as my lunch break was over. Luckily the branch manager, Frankie gave me his card and said to email him about making an appt over my lunch time the following day and he would "personally see to my card replacement being taken care of in the 30 min time slot before I needed to go back to work". I emailed him immediately, confirming a time, he responded saying he would see me at our appt. Well today I went for my appt and Frankie was MIA. I waited in line for 10 mins and realizing my lunch break was almost over, I emailed him and I called and left a VM asking if he was still going to help me and letting him know I had just a few mins before I had had to head back to work. Crickets. Still, hours later...crickets from Frankie. My day (and week) was saved when I was ready to walk out the door and never go back, a lovely bank teller named Svetlana grabbed me from the line and printed my new debit card in about 3 mins. I hears another teller ask if anyone had taken care of the upset client and someone else respond "Lana took her." So clearly, Frankie knew I was there for our meeting and let his staff know to prioritize me despite blowing me off himself. The worst part of the whole ordeal is that I went back to work the first day I attempted to get my replacement card from the bank, I told some of my staff about it- and they all laughed!!! At least 6 of them said they quit banking with GNCU long ago because this is apparently a common occurrence. My boss even told us they had an ATM at a Fernley branch "blown open by the wind" earlier this week. I was apparently new to the GNCU comedy. Perhaps I should have checked Yelp before opening accounts here and I would have seen they have an average of 2 stars. I added 1 star for Svetlana. She was a gem and the only reason I didn't close my account today. read more

After many years, I switched our personal account from local big bank to GNCU about a year ago. Customer service just ok. Then I tried for over 2 MONTHS to switch our business account. We have excellent credit, etc. OH my, save yourself MANY headaches and hours - do NOT do a business account. Horrible or should I say LACK of customer service! They want you to jump through a new hoop every week or so with many forms. SLOW to, if ever, respond. Managers/supervisors never call you back even though they say they will. I don't know how they stay in business. I'm changing again - Ugh - to Sierra Pacific CU, which has much better reviews and our neighbor has been happy for many years with them. read more

Awful! ive always had positive experiences using credit unions but this one... incompetent. Ive also had car loans in the past with other companies and this one is just an utter joke. They screwed up and had me pay some random insurance that had no business being on my loan. To keep my loan up to date, I overpaid. Theyve never refunded my account. They'll call three times a day to get their payment but nobody seems to be available to tell me where my refund is. customer service... nobody ever seems to know what theyre doing. Disconnected an average of 2-3 times every time I call and no return phone call so back in the call waiting line. long story short-- if I could transfer my loan out to someone else so I don't have to deal with these fools... i would. read more

I had an auto loan with Greater Nevada Credit Union. They were terrible to deal with. I had insurance covering my new vesical when I bought it. I provided that information to the GNCU and it took them five try's to get them to acknowledge that and stop sending me threatening letters. They even opened another insurance account of their own at and billed me an exorbitant cost to cover my "failure to satisfy them". After a year of frustration they finally got it right and refunded all of the premiums and pentolites they had charged me. I paid the load off early just to get rid of them. Their phone system stinks, their employs are arrogant and condescending. They will not listen to you or believe what you say. I will never use them as a financial institution, for any reason, for the rest of my life, and I encourage everyone how reads this to do the same. I have been on hold for 12 minutes so far, listening to how much they value my time and patience. Finally a recording says the wait time is less than five minutes. I was forced to use this sorry excuse for a bank when I got a recent car loan. I have previously had to visit a branch and found the teller to be very slow and apathetic and thought I would never bank there, but am now forced to do so after purchasing a vehicle and getting a loan. First person had to send me to a loan officer. Then I was sent to voicemail and told they would call me back. All I am trying to do is to make sure I pay my loan on time and get the loan number so I can set this up! Obviously, my business is NOT important to them, nor do they respect my time. I will be looking for a way to either transfer or pay off this loan asap so I don't have to suffer the indignation of terrible customer service. read more

Every time I call the branch local number no one from the branch answers any calls, I am always forwarded to a call overflow center. the purpose of my call is to find out something specific about the branch, like the Coin machine that are offered for processing change. This is one of the benefits of banking with GNCU for me This particular machine has been out of service for months, so I have called several times to try to find out if the machine has been repaired. The call center does not know if it's working, only which branch has a coin machine. They cannot even get a hold of the branch. I feel the branch should have someone who answers calls or someway of routing calls to the branch for someone to speak with. Automated systems are great if they can assist you with the purpose of your call so someone can actually help you. I should be able to speak to the branch I am doing my banking with for any reason. read more

She was polite, helpful, knowledgeable and I just knew my money would be safe, plus the transaction was quick because it was a drive thru ITM machine. I didn't even need to leave my car! I now understand why these guys are receiving only 2 starts. I got a car loan from this institution to purchase a vehicle from Corwin Ford. I had the loan paid off when I purchased another vehicle. I went online to check all my loan transactions and balance, and there is nothing that shows the payoff. I called them to ask where I can see the transaction that shows the payoff and they told me that since the loan is paid off that no transactions are available any longer. This is hands down the worst bank I've ever had the horror of dealing with. There's an employee at the Sierra center parkway location that's downright hateful and rude she's hateful, condescending, and sarcastic. They will not accept coins. They require that you use their coin counter, which never works. The tellers won't accept rolled coins with your account number on it. What the hell? They placed a check on a 9 day hold and made our life a living hell for no reason other than they could. Good riddens to bad rubbish. I've had 5 new vehicles auto loans with GNCU. Every single one paid on time and paid off. My last loan was a 2019 car that was purchased in October 2018. All payments were made on time, and some extra payments in 2019. When visiting GNCU in 2024, I was informed that during the year of 2019, all credits or payments were reversed, and reapplied in 2020. I was informed that many payments were late, and or changed after the due date. Not late, no fees but changed extra interest. Also missing payments. I went to my bank, show all "bill pay"payments, but GNCU will not accept other institutions documents as proof of payment. This loan comes due on 10/10/2024 a 5 years or 60 month loan. Since GNCU has admitted that the entire year of 2019 they had a glitz and they don't have any employees still working there (pandemic) that they, GNCU will extend the loan until paid off, otherwise I have to pay a balloon payment. I received an email from Haley Gwinn extending my loan without any written permission or approval. This place is a scam, are in class action lawsuit & no executive will discuss or review my bank statements. Put 2 letters into Governing over credit unions with zero response. Was advised that on 10/10/2024 end of contract, if I did not continue payments after 60 months, it will be repossessed. Do business with Greater Nevada Credit Union at your own risk. read more

I went to this credit union Wednesday, May 15, 2019 to make a quick deposit. It was in a pretty cool, corporate office and retail location in a beautifully wooded area, yet still near the mall. The building and grounds were modern and attractive. Trees and greenery were everywhere. There is not much to say, except I was served well. I had my deposit slip already prepared, and a teller was available to see me right away. The transaction went smoothly. Normally, I talk a little bit to the teller and have a seat by the waiting area to observe things, but I was in a rush. As I left, I took more pictures for Yelp. The credit union was nicely appointed, with nice-looking, modern bankers' desks and offices I noticed the change counter machine inside was broken. The teller area was large, and there was a drive-thru concealed hidden on the side, probably by design. The door sign said this was a 5-star rated credit union. I have always been treated well at all the branches of this credit union, and this time was no different. read more

I have been contacting this brand and the customer service branch since October when I paid off my loan. I never received the first letter when paying off my loan. I've made numerous calls and everyone seems to give me the run around. First it was to request the title through the DMV - DMV stated they can't release it because the vehicle still has a lien - I called again the beginning of this month advising what was mentioned and they stated they will send a letter regarding this to have it resolved on 1/4/2024 it's 1/22/2024 and still no letter especially when I asked if it could be sent to a different address to ensure it gets received they said they couldn't make any changes and will be mailed. My dad went in today and they states I had to request a duplicate title if I didn't receive the first one, however, I can't request that when AGAIN the lien is still on the vehicle. It's over 5 months. I've never gotten a loan through them and I will NEVER do it again. Very poor customer service from every single person I've been in contact with them more than 5 times and that's insane and excessive. read more

We have requested a full report of payments for the last 5 years and never the request is never fulfilled. They call monthly for the payment (which you can't make through their website or over the phone) so we have to do bill pay which can take up to 15 days. For an unknown reason, my debit card was blocked. I was in the store, trying to buy some thing, card was declined. I sat on hold for 15 minutes and spent another 15 minutes talking to a representative who sent me to fraud prevention. Same thing happened the next day I called again. This time fraud prevention was having technical difficulties and couldn't help me. I finally went into this branch after calling fraud prevention twice when there was no fraud, in fact, the last three transactions were for the local grocery stores and gas station. The representative at the bank, very smugly, asked a few questions, and then said it's active. I reminded him that that it happened twice before. It finally did work. The representative wasn't in the least bit interested in being polite, or in offering an apology. For all the time I spent in the purchases, I was unable to make. I'm extremely disappointed with this credit union. I chose a credit union thinking they would be better than going with a national chain.NOPE!! They're just as bad, if not worse! They held onto an insurance check for over a week! Now they've charged my account a maintenance fee that is supposed to be waived with direct deposit, which put my account into the negative. Then they charge a DAILY $10 fee for a negative balance! And now they're holding onto my paycheck so they can collect MORE FEES! Conveniently, their customer service line is 24 hours, but there are no supervisors on duty to take care of an account when you need it! I have been with GNCU for years, financed 2 vehicles with them. I have a CC with GNCU with a very high limit. I have never been late on my monthly payments. However they are raising my interest rate on my CC. I also had auto pay with them with my vehicles, one time they called and said I was late??? How is that when they take my payment out of my B of A account. I'm so done with this Credit Union. Stay Away, as they nickel and Dime you to Death. read more
