My first time visiting here. Came with some friends who are regulars. Absolutely perfect service. 5 stars. Once again.. should have gotten the server's name for a shout out. She was on top of every single thing we might need without being overbearing, was friendly and gave suggestions on food. I got the Zeus s omelette as you can see in the photo with the option to add gyro meat. Would be called a Greek omelet elsewhere but they have that too...but with green peppers. I think. Interesting. Anyway...as you can see they have a cool way of serving their omelets. Omelette itself was average. Hasbrownd were pretty tasteless and somewhat "mushy." Toast and coffee were good. Coffee was hot and I don't get refills but they were quick and plentiful for those that do. Again, great service! Friends got skillets which were probably better options. They looked great. Food is somewhat overpriced for the area esp since "just" breakfast. Can get bigger portions elsewhere for less. I'd return if friends were going but wouldn't be my choice. 3 stars feels low but then again that's average which it was aside from service. read more

This is the best Greek diner in Livingston County. I've been going here since I was a little girl and I was a weekly regular when I still lived in the mitten. I make sure to stop by when I visit home and it never disappoints. Very consistent. One of the best restaurants in Brighton and it's still affordable. Get the Saganaki and the Greek Chicken Salad. Best dressing ever. Better than Leo's and I would argue than any restaurant in Greektown. read more

I'm so disappointed in Grecian Island as I have been coming here ever since they open. The last four or more times that I have ordered something. It has not been very good to the point where when I do go there now I can only hope. In fact today will probably be my last stay here because I don't see any consistency. Today I ordered the chicken gigarole only to have the inside of the chicken cold like they took it out of the refrigerator, threw her on the grill for one second and then gave it to me. I have let them know this politely in the past with other items and I am not a picky person. But today I decided to post this as maybe they will get this message since it doesn't seem to be getting back to the kitchen by politely letting them know. read more

Beware, this establishment has a posting indicating they are passing a 3% charge back to the customer for using a credit card. I was a frequent customer. However, 2 of the last 3 times i've sat down and ordered my food, people that arrived and sat down after my order was in, received their food before me. As a matter of fact, this last visit, the person across from me had almost the exact same order! The reason given to me, when i mentioned this, was that the orders are on a carousel!!! Seriously? the waitress served both our tables, she should've been on her job instead of on her texts. I won't go back, ever again. Sadly our service has depleted over the recent years. Apparently NOT for the LGBTQ community. I used to live in Brighton and frequently ate here. I always had a good experience. I was in the neighborhood today and decided to stop in for the lemon rice soup and a sandwich. I was seated immediately as it was 2:00 in the afternoon and the place was slow. The waitress dropped off a water and a menu. That was the last time anyone interfaced with me. I sat there for 30 minutes waiting to place my order. 4 of the wait staff were folding napkins 3 tables away and looked at me numerous times and continued to ignore me. The other wait staff continued to serve the other patrons around me and clear empty tables. Not once did any of them attempt to serve me. Under the circumstances, I can only conclude that I was "clocked" and they chose to not serve me. If you support LGBTQ rights, please consider this review. read more

This is a complete disappointment. We ordered carry out...two gyros, an order of fries and a baby Greek salad with NO chickpeas. The gyros hardly had any meat or tzatziki sauce on them. The fries were packaged in a styrofoam container, which is the norm for carry out coney food, if they would've poked a hole in the top of the container the fries might have had a chance. Instead they were a sad, soggy, clump. Then, aside from the fact that their Greek dressing is horrible (thick & sweet), the salad was ordered WITHOUT chickpeas but it was loaded with them. I don't get it, this place used to be my go to Coney Island. But I think I'm finally giving up on this one. RIP Greasy Island. read more

My husband and I went here one evening for dinner and let me tell you, it was disgusting. I ordered the shrimp dinner because usually, shrimp isn't a horrible choice at a diner. The shrimp tasted as if they had gone bad weeks before, and were kept past the point of no return. I couldn't eat my meal. My husband ordered a Ruben sandwich and was given a "Rachel" (Turkey and coleslaw) instead. He chose not to say anything because the waitress was already frustrated with my sending my food back (I didn't choose to get the replacement food they offered). To start, I lived in Brighton when this placed first opened in 1993 or 1994. It was a good place to eat. They seemed genuinely proud of their food and service, and preserving the integrity of the business. Over the past 3 years, each time we've stopped in, the service has been absolutely lousy. And today, 12/26/2019 it was just as bad. Was not busy, the one half of the restaurant was empty, and the other half was half full with customers. Was seated promptly but waited a while for someone to take my order and it was not the waitress that had my table ... had to ask another waitress. Once the food came the waitress never came back until I was ready for the check. She asked, is there anything I can get you? I said yes, better service. I wanted a coffee and needed more napkins and a refill on my drink. She wanted to get me all those things but I was ready to leave. Seemed too preoccupied with her phone and texting. At the counter I asked for the manager. After paying my bill the cashier walks away and I said excuse me, I asked for the manager. She replies, you want to talk to the manager? I said yes, that is why I asked for a manager after explaining about the poor service. I could tell with this one, when talking to her, it was obvious ... one plus one, equals three. She comes back and says he is on the phone, would I like to wait. I said to her, I already waited, for napkins, a coffee, and a drink refill. We will not be spending our money here again! read more

This is the place that I go back so many times that I even wait for them to open up in the morning. I wait in rain and snow. It's that good. They run a tight ship. Food is awesome. Service is awesome. The people there including the nice gentleman that takes away the dishes are truly and sincerely friendly. The place is CUSTOMER ORIENTED. Flat out the place to go for any kind of food. Steak and and eggs for breakfast or lunch or dinner. Try the breakfast sandwich. Then compare the price to what you pay for a number "3" a couple miles away. Take my word and go and if they don't treat you well and feed you a good meal, it's on you not them. I've been going there now close to 8 years and the next new customer walking in the doors gets the same service as I get. Because it can't get any better. read more

This place is pretty much your typical coney, with a few exceptions. They do three things extremely well: seasoned fries, gyros, & Greek salads (with chicken & pita). All three are above average in my opinion. The service is like any other diner, quick and to the point. It does have a bit of a rushed feeling when you dine here, but I guess that's not always a bad thing. This is definitely our go-to if we are looking for a quick & simple breakfast or lunch. Two customers in the restaurant and waited 10 minutes to be seated. Then the waitress that was working my section was on break and no one was covering so I sat another 10 minutes. I ended up placing my order with a different waitress that was waiting a different section. Once I received my food and drink, I did not see another person the entire time I was eating. My girlfriend and I visited this restaurant on the recommendations here, previous to my own. I'm unsure if it was said recommendations that befouled my experience or what, but I left rather unsatisfied. I didn't take the remainders of my food home, which says a lot for me. The food was very disappointing, for the most part, *especially* considering the price. The saganaki (flaming cheese) was pretty good. It was my first experience with it and I was pleased. I ordered the spinach pie, which came with rice and assorted vegetables, and therein lies the problem. It seemed like I could have bought my entire meal out of the freezer of a grocery store...apart from the water, which came out of a well. My girlfriend's chicken gyro and lemonade were good, though. The service was okay. I'd probably rate it 3 stars. It was a little weird/off-putting that the management (I think) was always floating around, though. The decor was a little beyond standard for a Coney Island kind of place, at least in terms of design. The place isn't in awful condition, but it could use a bit of upkeep. The menu's nice, though it's the only thing that impressed me. In the end, the price doesn't match the experience, especially not for food that I swear I could have bought out of a freezer. I'd like to say I'll give it another try, but I really don't see it happening. read more
