I love this place, get their hungry man breakfast frequently. But, I've asked every time for another syrup cup for the pancakes and never get one. I'd pay for it, I always leave a tip even though I do carry out every time, I ask as nicely as I can when they ask me if there's anything else I need, and I've spoken to about everyone who works there at this point. Sadly, It's been 5 times in a row without the syrup cup. I can understand if there are higher tariffs from imports coming from Canada and that all syrup is made in Canada, like how all Moose are from there, but because of this I can't give them more than 4 stars. I'd love to change this to 5 stars if they wanted to offer to make things right with either Moose steaks or a barrel of syrup, preferably a barrel I can climb into for unrelated reasons. Everything or at least 99% of it is consistently excellent. 5/5 Service: Our server Pam came up to our table immediately and brought us our salads and soups with the coffee order for brunch / lunch. Super nice and thoughtful. 5/5 Ambiance: Lucas is an upscale diner and the furnishings here always make you feel like you're in a fancier place without the fancy prices. They really should fix the air leakage in the front dining compartment but the front door though. Lucas is a good Coney Island. Their food is good, it has a nice patio and it's always clean. Service is quick too but it's Mediocre on friendliness. Very solid! Came here for breakfast and had a nice experience. The location is very convenient to where I was, we were able to walk here. We were able to be seated right away. Pretty standard for a Coney Island, the menu is expansive, so you're sure to find something you like. I got an omelette that I thought was pretty good. Overall, good experience. Been here a few times over the years but never really felt I had a decent experience. We do always go for breakfast so I don't know if that is the issue. This last time hostess legit pointed us to a table instead of walking us over. No menus. When the waitress comes over, she was nice but definitely scattered. I asked about to specials and she said she will check; however she looked at the board at the front of the restaurant and left and took care of two other customers. It just seemed kind of rude. They also up charge for cheese to an omelette which is just annoying. The portion sizes are fine and never got anything bad. They have a drive through option. Took my granddaughter to brunch on 6/20. We should have taken the clue when she found a long black hair that was stuck to the rim of her glass of water. But she begged me not to say anything ( she's 12, so to have said anything in her mind would have been mortifying...). Skip to our food being delivered and sure enough there's a couple ( not just 1 ) black hairs in/on her pancakes ! Again she begged me not to say anything. But this prompted me to look closer and now there are hairs on our table, and to beat it all I requested our server to wipe down the table ! My sandwich btw was ok. My boyfriend and I came for lunch on 5/20, and honestly, the service was really disappointing. There was a "Seat Yourself" sign, so we did--and then sat there for 15 minutes with no one even looking our way. A family of three came in after us and got immediate service, drinks, and appetizers while we were still just waiting. When our server finally came over, there was no "hey" or "sorry for the wait"--just dropped the menus and asked what we wanted to drink. We waited another 15 minutes just for her to come back. At that point, we got up to order our food to-go at the front. A different server finally said she'd help us if we sat back down, so we did, and then waited again 5ish minutes before our original server came and rushed through our order like we were an inconvenience. The whole thing just felt really careless and rude. & our food came in boxes for us to leave so we didn't even get to eat hot meals. Not the best experience and not very friendly staff. read more
