When Barbie suggested that we go and get a Gyro in Port Arthur, considering the fact that the area is known for fried seafood - and that we just had one of their highest rated fried seafood places and didn't really like it - well I honestly wasn't expecting much from this. And it's actually owned by actor Art Malik. That's why it's called Malik Gyros. I agreed to give it a go just because our first meal was really bad, at the seafood place, and I thought surely the second one can't be as bad - but never was expecting to be blown away to this degree. We're talking about actually one of the best Gyros I've ever had in Texas, or had anywhere. There are a few good Gyros here and there in Texas - especially in the Houston area - and this one is right up there with them. Top five in the state I would say, easily. You don't expect to find that kind of thing in a little town like Port Arthur, but we did, thanks to Barbie. I ordered Roast Duck here, and they brought out the mouth of the duck. I sent it back, they brought another duck mouth. No wonder they call it Beak Gyros. So then I asked for Ox Tongue, but what they brought me wasn't tongue. It was Ox Cheek. No wonder they call it Cheek Gyros. Great service and lovely decor and clean and nice - and right across the street from our favourite Boba place in town. The Gyro was so perfect that every single time we come to Port Arthur or even up to Beaumont from now on, we will be detouring down here and getting this wonderful wonderful Gyro. And I thought the owners were Hindu or Buddhist, but it's actually Sikh Gyros. Now we'll let Bonnie Tyler finish this for us: Where have all the Greek men gone And where are all the Gods? Where's the meat-wise Hercules To knead the rising dough? Isn't there some white sauce upon some fiery meat? Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need I need a Gyro! Mom & Pop feel...Very kind, curious and professional! We moved to the area from North Texas in August. The customer service in most places in the Beaumont area has been HORRIBLE! Not here. We decided to dine in... the ambiance was nice and the Greek music was on point! The food was very tasty, filling and reasonably priced. The food was great. The atmosphere was good. My wife and I had a regular gyro and fries. Seasoning o. The fries tasted good. Better than getting nothing on the fries. The season I got on the gyro was spot on. The only thing I can think of that needed feta cheese on the gyro, but the flavor was good. Man oh man they're good. Which means I don't necessarily need to drive to Houston to get myself some good ole' Greek food. Sometimes, I would drive to Houston just to grub on some type of foreign food that I can't find down here cause I usually have these weird cravings at a weird time on weird but good cravings. #notpregnant #whatever. Gyro has to probably my favorite food. So when i finally get the opportunity to try this place out I'm going in with higher then average expectations. For the Gyro sandwich with cost around 8.99 and came with fries which if you find a decent place with decent gyro thats about the price I'm willing to pay. It took about 5-10min for my togo order. The smell alone i couldn't help it i had to eat some fries at least and wow. Some of the best fries i have ever tasted, them alone are worth going back. I was able to try the gyro sandwich at home and it has to be one of the best i have ever eaten. I actually bought two because i was hungry shopping pretty much and glade i did. DELICIOUS! This place is great! I had a gyro plate and nothing disappointed. The gyro had the best tasting soft pita bread, the meat was tender and very well seasoned and the greek yogurt to meat ratio was just right. The salad had multiple veggies, fresh cheese and the best dressing. Heck, even the fries that came with the plate were nice and crispy and tasted great. By far the best gyro I've had in the Beaumont area! I have missed Greek/Mediterranean food since I left the city to settle in a smaller community. This restaurant is about 45 mins away from me. My husband was working near by & I asked him to bring home take out. I "yelped" the area... & to my surprise: there was a Greek place?!?!? The gentleman that I placed my order with over the phone was wonderful. Very polite & helpful. I ordered a hummus and baba ghanoush, Greek salad, lamb kabob & a gyro with seasoned fries! Omg!!!! Sooo wonderful!!!!! There are no enough words in the English dictionary to describe how much "it" hit the spot!!!! The hummus is nice and creamy, dill with kalamata and olive oil flavor. The baba ghanoush was a little different than I am used to, but still very fresh and tasty! This is one of the VERY few eggplant dishes I will eat - it's a texture thing. The Greek salad was great! Very flavorful. Has olives, cheese, peppers, onions... & capers! I love capers! So glad that they incorporated capers! The dressing was very good - overall fresh! Cleaned the palate! My husband had the gyro plate. I ordered his with no tomatoes & extra Tzatziki sauce; seasoned fries & salad. Yummmm! It's a good deal when you end up with tzatziki sauce all over you mouth & cheeks! Ha! The fries has a great seasoning but, they were a bit plain. I wish they would have been wedges, covered with flour- & then topped with the seasoning! Best Greek food I have had in Texas! The gyros plate is traditional and very tasty! And the fries are always perfectly cooked and seasoned. The fry seasoning is delicious and I wish I knew what they used. The hummus and pita side is huge and perfectly done and only $1.50. The iced tea is so good I crave it. They even put fresh lemon wedges out for it. I have to yet try everything on the menu but I plan to. This has become my favorite restaurant in Southeast Texas! It is a must try. The staff is amazingly friendly and welcoming. Their lunch specials ends at 3 and is well worth it. You pay $6.99 for the gyros plate! Please give this place a try you won't regret it. read more
