    Twice cooked Pork

I challenge the system and went in at lunch. The takeout line was forming but seemed seamless. Straight back and sit where I wanted - the booths were taken. Was only there a minute or two and server took my sweet tea order. She brought the tea and ordered a twice cooked pork I haven't had in years. My Egg Drop Soup showed up and I started to savor it. Then the Egg Roll and the meal piled high. I didn't mention the soup (choice of 3) and the egg roll came with the meal price. Choice of rice menu indicated some changes will cost more ($3). It was a lot of food. Time to go and get to go containers. Staff was attentive no complaints.

The food was really good. I got the shrimp fried rice, which was very delicious and shrimp house special egg foo young not a fan of the brown gravy. I much prefer the dark Gravy that I have grown up eating, but it was still delicious.

Shrimp with lobster sauce lunch special with fried rice, and egg roll. Also had bowl of Hot and Sour soup with an iced tea

Went there with 2 others for the lunch specials. We had Moo Goo GI Pan, chicken teriyaki, and for me my ubiquitous shrimp with lobster sauce. All lunch specials include choice of rice (fried or white), egg roll, and choice of soup; I had the hot and sour soup. If the patron does not want the soup, a second egg roll is an option. All of us thought that the food was very good. We will definitely go back.

    Consistent with a soup?

I ordered the happy go lucky with some other American foods. The Happy go lucky tastes like it came from a steam table buffett. The shrimp was overcooked and the vegetables were mushy like it was in a stew. The fried wing and shrimp were okay. However, it seems they are precooking the fried rice in large batches and it tastes scorched from sitting in a warmer. If we wanted buffett food then we would go to a buffett.

Food was all great! I've never had Shrimp TSO before this afternoon and it was a plus! I loved it.. the wait staff was attentive!

As always, the restaurant was packed--which is always a great sign that something good is happening in that kitchen! My waitress, Bailey, was sweet, attentive, and very accommodating, making the experience even more enjoyable. I started with a cup of their famous tomato bisque, and let me just say... I simply cannot come here without ordering it. This heartwarming soup, made with slow-roasted tomatoes, shrimp stock, cream, and Creole seasoning, is rich, comforting, and truly soothing to the soul. It remains my absolute favorite--if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it! For my entrée, I ordered the Avocado Multi-Grain Toast. It's a light and satisfying plate featuring mashed avocado spread over thinly sliced multi-grain bread, served with your choice of sausage or bacon, an egg cooked your way, and a fresh tomato and cucumber salad. Everything on the plate was well-prepared and very tasty. If I could make one small personal tweak, I would love to see this served on a thicker slice of buttery toasted sourdough, maybe with a sprinkle of feta on top. That's just my personal preference and how I enjoy my avocado toast--others may find this version just right as is! The search continues for my perfect avocado toast, but this was a delicious and enjoyable stop along the way. Happy Sunday, and keep sharing those amazing finds on Best Bites!

On my most recent visit, I sat at the bar and started with a Buffalo Trace bourbon while looking over the menu. The bartenders here are always attentive and welcoming; in fact, the bartender remembered me from previous visits, which speaks volumes about the level of service they provide. Dinner was a ribeye cooked medium-rare with asparagus, and it was exactly what a good steak should be: perfectly cooked, with great flavor, and served hot. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. I followed that with their lemon icebox dessert and a lemon drop, both excellent, and finished the evening with a Four Roses Small Batch Select for a nightcap. What really sets J Wilson's apart is the staff's consistency and professionalism. The bartenders, servers, and kitchen team all seem to work together smoothly and take pride in the experience they deliver. Even on a busy night, with spring break crowds and daylight saving time throwing schedules off, the service remained attentive, and the food came out exactly right. If you're looking for a reliable steakhouse in Beaumont with excellent steaks, a strong bourbon selection, and top-notch service, J Wilson's is hard to beat. Five stars. Always a great experience.

Although the reviews were mixed, the majority were positive, and seeing that they offered pho, we decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, the host was warm and welcoming. The restaurant itself features pleasant décor and a comfortable atmosphere. There were a few families dining at the time, which created a relaxed and inviting environment. The host took our drink order promptly and brought the beverages out before our server came to take our food order. We ordered the special vermicelli plate, fresh spring rolls, and the ribeye pho. All of the dishes arrived at the same time. The vermicelli bowl, unfortunately, was not as flavorful as we had hoped; the sauce could have benefited from a bit more depth and seasoning. The pho was satisfactory, though we may simply be accustomed to a more robust, authentic flavor profile. During the meal, our server checked on us several times. We did need to mention an issue with the shrimp in the vermicelli plate, and he handled it professionally by removing the item from our bill, which we appreciated. The service overall was attentive and courteous. It's possible that because we visited closer to closing time, the broth and proteins may not have been at their peak freshness. Despite our mixed feelings about the food, the quality of service and welcoming atmosphere left a positive impression. We would consider returning, hopeful for a stronger culinary experience next time. So we can revise our review.

The takeout presentation was well done, and everything held up nicely by the time I got back to my hotel (just a short drive away). The Pad Kee Mao had good flavor and didn't disappoint, though it was a bit drier than I prefer. The papaya salad and egg rolls were both fresh and enjoyable. Service was friendly, and the dining area appeared clean and inviting. I'd return and would simply request extra sauce next time. Looking forward to trying more from their menu.
