Since I enjoyed it so much the first time, I went back again a few days later. The service was less than satisfactory and I am not sure I will continue to order here.

Chicken shawarma with rice and Afghan daal and salad

The halal place that Galveston needed! Located inside an unassuming convenience store, Kabab Shack & Grill is the latest player in the Galveston restaurant scene and it is worth the hype. I had the chicken shawarma platter with rice, and it came with two sides of my choice - I got the Afghan daal and the salad. The daal was my favorite! The chicken was tender and tasty and I enjoyed their white sauce. The staff were so kind and attentive, even sharing samples of their food. At the end of the meal, I got a mango lassi, which was cool, refreshing, and perfect in sweetness. Definitely check this place out and if you're a student, they even give a discount!

Super flavorful food. I got the Chicken Shawarma bowl with rice and two sides ( Potatoes and Spinach.) I've eaten a lot of Chicken Shawarma, but the flavor profile was different and spicier than normal, which I liked. For the sides- I loved the spinach and the potatoes were okay, a bit watery. It is in a gas station, so we took it to go, even though they have a few tables outside. Overall great food and definitely worth trying

Food and service were great. I missed good halal food since moving to the island so it's great to see that I now have a go to place when i'm craving kebab. The employees were friendly and gave solid recommendations for my meal. Food was deliciously seasoned with sumac and white and red sauce. One thing to note is that the restaurant is inside a convenience store so seating and parking are limited. I recommend take out. Was definitely worth walking from a block away to get food here and I WILL be returning frequently.

The portions in the family meal were plentiful and the flavors were perfection. My favorite was the Greek salad.

Having worked in restaurants before, I'm a bit more sensitive towards restaurant workers needing to break down, clean up, close down, and go home. I'm never one to go in five minutes to closing and order a meal. My buddy says, "They're open, let's get some food." "They look like they're getting ready to close. No customers. No wait, they look like they're still cooking. Let's see what they got." We went in and were greated like long lost family. They were so nice and welcoming. We ordered gyros and rice to go. The food was fantastic! Everything cooked perfectly. Definitely going back.

I don't know if it was sold or changed management but the most obvious thing was the lack of energy there. There were two people working neither which seemed too happy to be there. My friend ordered ice tea which was rancid so we had our money refunded. We ordered a large humus and an order of falafel to share. The falafel looke the same as usual but was very bland and the humus was uncharacteristically runny/liquidy. The general cleanliness was as usual. There was just a vibe that told me something is different. And to top it all off, they no longer offer military or first responder discounts.

There's plenty of space for large parties, and you're greeted kindly once you enter. Unlike most buffets I've been to, at Dimassi's, you pay AFTER you've had your fill. Dimassi's Mediterranean Buffet is surprisingly not very expensive. Their food is freshly made, straight from the kitchen and everything at the buffet is always kept at the right temperature. There's multiple kinds of salads, hummus, meats, fresh veggies, pasta, beans, rice dishes, and desserts. Their pita bread and flatbreads are freshly baked from the oven. They even serve authentic Greek coffee. Most of the dishes are what you'd typically see in Mediterranean cuisine. While, there's some classic American comfort food mixed in. Dimassi's offers pick up orders, if you're not in the mood for buffets. I liked their chicken kebabs, but they're too thick. I wouldn't recommend the meatballs. They were dry and lacked flavor. The tomato sauce the meatballs were steeped in didn't help. The sauce was watery and very bland. Their Beef Kofta is delicious, but very rich, so I wouldn't eat more than one piece. Their rice pudding wasn't the best either. It still had chunks of rice. Dimassi's doesn't have much to offer for little kids. They only had cheese pizza, fried chicken wings, fries, banana pudding with vanilla wafers, and only one kind of cookie. I think I'll take my mother here sometime, though.

I placed an order through their online system, and the automated message said it would be ready in about 20 to 25 minutes. I arrived 30 minutes later and was told it would be another five minutes. This restaurant is interesting because it's set up like a small stall inside a convenience store. That means there isn't much seating aside from a small two-top, and most of the food is meant to be taken to go. On the night I was there, a man and woman were working together behind the counter. For dinner, I decided on the chicken kebab plate while my wife went with the chicken feta salad. I had the choice of rice or salad and went with the fattoush salad, then picked two sides: cauliflower and eggplant salsa. I also asked for mine to be spicy. Both of our meals looked good when I opened the to-go boxes, although I would have had a hard time spotting the cauliflower at first. I started with my chicken, which was served over the salad, and it was delicious. The chicken was moist, the salad was flavorful, and the spice blend added a great kick without being overpowering. Both of my sides were good too. The eggplant was nicely cooked with a custard-like texture, and the cauliflower was roasted well with a tasty sauce on top. My wife also really enjoyed her salad, especially the chicken. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first found this place, but the food ended up being delicious.

We wanted to try some hummus, so we ordered the Mezze Plate, along with the Australian Lamb Souvlaki Plate. As we waited, we received complimentary salads (very refreshing) with lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, olives, feta, and onions, all drizzled with olive oil and herbs. The lamb was delicious: tender and well‑seasoned. The rice is parboiled, but I actually don't mind that at all, it was really good! The pita bread was very soft; I don't know if it's made in‑house, but it certainly feels like it. The tzatziki sauce was super creamy and so good. The Mezze Plate was great as well. The dolmades were good, the falafel was good, and the spanakopita (a large empanada‑like pastry filled with spinach and cheese) was delicious: pillowy, flaky, and creamy, all in one bite. It was served with small portions of tzatziki and hummus, both creamy and very tasty, plus more pita bread. We were impressed by The Great Greek. The meat was delicious. They don't give much pita bread, so I'll order extra next time. The rice was "ok". I didn't like that it had red pepper flakes in it, making it a little spicier than I can stand. Overall, I like it. I did go back and got a gyro instead of the gyro plate and it was HUGE and delicious!
