Clearly I have continued to frequent this place for more than 10 years now, and always come back. The place is definitely much better than it used to be and they've put in a lot of work and effort to make it look and feel great. The hookah is great. The staff is more than great, and I've gotten to know many of them personally, and the food is amazing. I come here way too often to not update my review, if you are looking for a hookah lounge with a more "sober" and "adult" vibe from the loud childish lounges around with truly excellent hookah, look no further than Majlis. I've been here a couple times and I always have a good experience. The customer service is great. I love the food. It's very clean. The hookah is great as well and I love the tea last time I went I believe I had the peppermint tea with honey and it was amazing. They don't serve alcohol, but it's still nice place to go. You can play games such as Uno Jenga or any type of game of your interest, they do play good music as well and a lot of people also come there to study. My friend put me on to this spot which is so crazy because it's right in the area of my house. It's a great space nice and clean and high ceilings which I adore. The servers are good sometimes they can be overwhelmed due to high volume but over all good. I've been here twice and after my first experience I knew I would be a repeating customer. They serve a variety of tea which I truly enjoyed I chose the Turkish tea it was relaxing and left me feeling good. The first time I had a chicken wrap which was alright the meat was slightly dry but the fries were really good. The next time I had wings which were good but overly sauced so I would have to get it on the side next time. I got the chicken sandwich which was good. They have a special everyday and on this day it was for the chicken sandwich. The hookah menu is extensive you can pretty much get whatever flavor you want. The hookah does last for a long time. Not sure why last review didn't show up I went to this place on the 28th of September and asked for a hookah flavor that does NOT have paan in it. They recommended few flavors and among them I chose mango flavored hookah with NO paan. Before I the hookah arrived I placed another for a mango shake and masala fries. When the hookah arrived I took the first puff and PHEW my head started spinning IT HAD PAAN flavor in it. I called the server who took the hookah order and told him it has paan in it and he DISAGREED with me and insisted that it doesn't have paan mixed in it. I kept sipping on my mango shake as I started feeling a bit dizzy. Within few minutes I had to rush to the bathroom and throw up. After I got back to my table I saw another server passing by (bearded male), I asked him to try my hookah and tell me what flavor it was, he right away took few puffs and told me it was PAAN flavor. I then told him that I had just threw up and feeling dizzy from smoking this. He then called the server who took my order and he asked if he can change the flavor for me. By that time I was unable to sit there for another minute as I had to rush to the bathroom and couldn't contain vomit. I ran to the bathroom and asked for the check right away. As soon as I got into the car and started driving, now I couldn't drive form feeling heavily dizzy and nauseous. A few minutes in and on the highway I pull over and put my hazard on to open the door and throw up, at that time I felt like my ENTIRE stomach was coming out of my mouth. Luckily I had a friend with me to give me water and help me clean up. I sat on the highway for a big until started driving again and within 10 minutes I had projectile vomiting throwing up on steering wheel, on my clothes, and I couldn't stop it even after trying to hold my mouth with one hand. This time I was closer to an exit from the highway and AGAIN pulled over close to the exit and started throwing up NON STOP. The next day I realized it was not just the wrong hookah they served but in fact it was the milkshake that was not the right temperature and went bad that they used to make the milkshake I was drinking. We have been looking for a great Hookah lounge for past 1 year and we happened to find this in Queens. Loved our first experience here. We ordered Skyfall Hookah, Moroccan Tea was great and Jerk chicken, Samosa and Chicken Kaati roll was delicious. Ambiance was perfect for a date night or hanging out with friends. Stopped in for an afternoon lunch and hookah before I crashed for a night shift at work. The decor is very nice , with power outlets at every table so that you can keep your devices charged. The service was great ! The waiters were very attentive from the food to the hookah. I ate grilled chicken over salad . It's was very fresh and they served it with a side of vinaigrette and a creamy dressing . I chose my standard , watermelon mint in a fresh pineapple head with a ice hose. The roof I guess opens up but there is no outdoors, just an enclosed space with one big ventilator for the smoke to run in and out. Loved the thin sliced lamb - great texture. My daughter had mozzarella sticks and fries and they were perfection. Fries were on the mushy side and I love them that way. The food was packed in durable containers with waxed paper - a very nice touch - If you want tasty food and a quick bite to eat this is a great place. I was introduced to this place by my friend, a true long Islander, Dharam. I am so glad he did! I don't smoke hookah so I can speak for that. Very friendly staff, I guess they were probably friendlier Bc they knew my friend Dharam, who was their "regular" before he moved to my home state, NJ. I had their potato kathi roll (stay tuned, it will be added on the menu soon). It was delicious. Perfect amount of spice and chutneys. Masala fries are yummy as well. Horrible! Not the establishment to be acting like they are too high class for people to walk in with hats/streetwear. There is a difference between a hookah lounge and a club. This is a regular lounge in a regular neighborhood that is acting like they have some superiority. If they want to impose these types of rules then maybe they should make it look nicer because it's very average. Rather than an entree, it was more like those large catering platters of meat and onions and peppers. It was just okay for me. Have been trying to give this spot a few chances through the past few years but I think it's time to stop that. The owner seems to love finding sneaky ways to get money from customers. First it was a BS covid fee that they charged last year but did not maintain any distance when it came to being seated. Then they took that off and started charging some kind of food supply fee. I guess times were so rough for them that even after getting all the federal & state assistances, they needed customers to pay for this place's groceries. They must've realized this was illegal and suddenly took that off. We went over the other and a huge waterbug flew in and none of the staff did anything to get it out or kill it. They just let it be in their "outdoor" sitting area. Also one of their managers, Mo is a huge creep that constantly harasses girls. Ok. I had to come here three times to finally write a review. This is what I gotta say about this place. First off, having a "bouncer" for a hookah spot does not give the place an aura of being upscale and exclusive. Also, a no hat policy makes no sense to me, but let's continue to what matters to me, the quality of hookah. If you go to any hookah place in astoria, you can get a good bowl to last for 2 hrs, and fresh fruit at least 3 hrs. It's always a no fail. THIS PLACE however always lasts only 30-45 mins before it gets harsh as hell. I tried to wrap my head around it the first time, always ordered different 30 dollar flavors, and still the same. I've drawn my own conclusion. This place purposely puts as little hookah in the bowl as possible so that you can enjoy your hookah and then leave before the hours end. Some places want your experience to be enjoyable and long lasting so you can come back, and other places (this being one) want customer turnover so seats can be freed up. I will not give them my money anymore if I am paying 40 bucks for only 1 hr of enjoyment. Your better off going anywhere else but here.
