We decided to gut and replace our 22 year old bathrooms, a guest and master bathroom. We looked around, got different quotes, and decided to go with Green Bay. Quotes were very competitive between the different companies, but the main difference is the custom choice and quality provided. Unlike most companies, Green Bay only quotes for the labor, and instead of providing you with and including choices of pre-fabricated materials, you pick, choose, and pay for everything 'that you see'. They perform the labor and pay for what's underneath (plumbing, cement, drywall, water proofing, etc...). That means you get to do all the shopping and buy the quality items you like to have, which can be intimidating but they won't leave you hanging dry. They help you with everything you need to choose and go 'window shopping' with you. I suggest creating a list of all the items needed and discuss with the project manager. When Melissa set foot into our door to come and give us an estimate, we felt comfortable with the way she explained things. She seemed determined to do a good job and explained very well what to expect and how the process works. She gave us a quote for the labor and we agreed to have them do the work. Remodeling can be stressful and time consuming, for both the home owner but also for the remodeling agency and their managers. They take on a lot of responsibility. Melissa seemed to have a good grip on the whole process. Once we signed the remodeling contract, I started to make a list of things needed, and everything we picked together including the labor was similar to other quotes that contained cheap and artificial materials. What we picked was high-quality wall & floor tile, vanities, quality plumbing and faucets, etc. Exactly how we wanted it, customized to our own needs. Working with Melissa was a really nice experience. She is a hard-working person and always making sure everything is going well to our liking. Any issues or questions that came up were answered and resolved quickly. Green Bay takes pride in their work and their people are all professionals. Their reputation is on the line; she put the best people on our project and they didn't disappoint. Benito and his team were great, very experienced and knowledgable. They made very helpful suggestions and for every problem I was dealing with they had a great solution. Once the project kicked off, the first thing to do was to pick out the major components. We decided to remove both bath tubs and create showers instead (speaking about a waste of water that goes into a tub). The following were picked out first: Floor Tile, Wall Tile, Vanity, Vanity Tops, and all faucets and shower components. We had the vanity tops custom cut, and Melissa has all the right contacts to get everything done correctly. Melissa went with us shopping at a variety of places that they have agreements with and large discounts are applied that you would not get otherwise. Sometimes saving you almost half of the MSRP values, and equal or better prices than Amazon in many cases. Some things I couldn't find locally I just purchased from Amazon, like vanity mirrors, fixtures, and lighting. Melissa and I shopped for hours over a period of a few days, looking at different tiles, vanities, and faucets from a variety of places all over the bay. Once we had picked all major components, she deals with the purchase and takes care of everything. She negotiated pricing for us and gets the best deals. Thanks so much for all the hard work you put in for us! She made many suggestions and showed us many options she knew existed, making our process easier along the way. The first thing Melissa did, after the measuring guy came out and created a Cad drawing, was create a 3D model representation of how the new bathrooms are going to look like with all the things we picked. When we saw the 3D we thought it was someone else bathroom, we couldn't believe how nice things could look. I'll attach pictures of the before and after result. The 3D looked amazing and but the final result was even better than we expected. All work was done per California building codes and passed all inspections the first time. We signed up with Green Bay Remodeling for a major overhaul of our outdated master bathroom. I'd say that Adir, the Salesperson, and later to be the Project Manager, somehow quickly talked me into hiring him for the project despite the rather "pricey" quote. But he impressed and assured me and of his team's professionalism, high quality of workmanship, clear timeline, and fairness. He seemed to quickly perceive what I was looking for, what I want done, and my vision for the project. We had initial problems with starting the project because of delivery delay of the important material needed, which was not the company's fault at all. Nevertheless, he managed to re-schedule his workers multiple times, as we waited patiently for the right material to arrive. Although we did most of the shopping on our own, he guided us with what materials to look for and provided us with accurate and clear measurements, types of materials to choose for aesthetic and durability reasons, and referred us to the store where we can get the vanity table and cabinet I was looking for. Additionally, that store gave me a discount since he was a contractor who they had a good relationship with ( I suppose they say this to all of Adir's clients and I can only hope it is TRUE!) . More importantly Adir led me to this store where I found EXACTLY what I had in mind and eliminated the stress of shopping and looking around for what I wanted. All in all, I give Adir very high marks as far as project management is concerned. He is always on time and shows up whenever he says he would and constantly kept me updated with whatever is going on. I would also like to mention that Adir gave us a worker, Jose Q. who worked on our bathroom with excellent results and professionalism although he was working by himself most of the time. He was always polite, friendly, very easy-going, listened to our "little requests" to fix this or that which was outside the scope of the project, and very hardworking. He was utterly patient especially and was more than willing to drive long distances to get the correct parts that were needed so that everything comes in perfectly. He is also very talented who knows most everything about construction - from plumbing, to electric work, to tile and/or floor installation, cabinet work, etc. He is truly a jack of all trades. Green Bay is lucky to have a worker such as he. I would heartily recommend Green Bay to my friends. I trust their professionalism, integrity, and quality of work. We used Green Bay Remodeling for a shower replacement in our master bathroom. They were willing to do a small job, we wanted to replace the shower tile, shower pan, all the plumbing and a window. We liked the price and thought the company looked reputable, and I did ask for some references. We had to select and provide all of the surface materials (window, tile, shower fixtures, shower door). The only drawback to this approach was that we did not order enough bull nose tile for the shampoo box and ordered too much tile for the shower pan. Our original project manager had to leave town for a family emergency, and the owner of the company came on the day the project started, along with a new project manager, Simon Kemelmsjer. While we were sorry about the first project manager's emergency, getting Simon as our project manager was wonderful. He was on the job site every day work was being done, and was in touch by phone text and email when we needed him. Things go wrong on any project, in our case, there was mold found when the shower was demolished, and Home Depot lost our shower door once, and then couldn't get it reordered in a timely manner. Simon was great to work with. When he said "Don't worry, I'll take care of it", he really did take care of it. He did not get flustered or upset and was always pleasant. He worked with us when we ran short on tile and helped us get it ordered with Green Bay's help. They waited for the final payment until we had our custom shower door installed so we could test the plumbing. The crew was great - my husband is very particular and if he didn't like how something was done, it was corrected. If we were to do this project over, I would hire Green Bay and ask for Simon as our project manager again. I would also make sure I had all my materials before the job started. I would ask to have the tile person check our tile calculations. And I would not order a shower door from Home Depot again. The only flaw on our project was that the tile on the wall near the shower head had a "bow" in it, which made installing the shower door a little tricky and took a lot of clear caulk to fill in the resulting gap. I don't know if this was a matter that our wall was so out of alignment that it could only be remedied to a certain point? We thought the custom shower door could handle any wall flaw, but they can only correct at the top or bottom, not in the middle. read more

My hat's off to Green Bay Remodeling for successfully completing, in a reasonable amount of time, this challenging Scandinavian-style bathroom remodel four flights up from the street. The challenge began years ago when the bathroom flooded causing dry rot and a mold infestation in the floor and the ceiling below. The mold remediation company had to completely gut the bathroom from several feet above the floor. When done, they recommended Green Bay as a company who could get on the job promptly, which they did. The remodel design was a collaborative effort, involving me (an architecture buff), my daughter (a landscape architect), and Green Bay's energetic Project Manager, Zack Ilinetsky. We agreed on a walk-in shower with no shower pan and a white tile surround. Zack suggested three wall boxes in the shower to break up the plain white, and, when I decided to avoid a bulky sink vanity, an elegant pedestal sink. He also suggested tiling the entire bathroom up to the window level, not just the shower. Zack, being knowledgeable about locally affordable bathroom fixtures, helped me keep the cost down why I indulged in ordering the finish materials online, thanks to Green Bay's policy of encouraging to choose them. I was impressed with the hard-working and technically skilled crew as they carried cement board and over a ton of tile up the four winding flights, creating a waterproof floor for the shower. Then a crisis occurred: the local planning department, which was in the midst of a reorganization, sent a plumbing inspector unfamiliar with the local code, who threatened us with having to tear up the beautiful water-tested floor! Zack really showed his energy and determination, going to the planning department and explaining the technical details. They understood and sent us another inspector who green-lighted completion of this ambitious remodel. Another unexpected treat Zack provided was the advanced ceiling fan with Bluetooth stereo speakers and a blue night-light. I can play music from my smartphone while enjoying my shower. An automatic on-off switch for the new recessed LED ceiling lights was also installed. Having taken a luxurious shower in my new high-style bathroom (that's a pre-existing sauna behind the wooden door, by the way), I am now ready to show off my gorgeous new bathroom to the world. My experience with Green Bay Remodeling was perfect. We had just lost our Mother and moved into her house. Since she didn't use the bathroom for a while we found a hole had rusted into the bathtub and we needed to replace it. We shopped around and found Bath Fitters was willing to do the job for $8K and finish it in one-day. We trusted them. It took them 2 months to get the pre-fab materials they used to do the job. Then it took another 2 months to not even come close to completing the job. When the demo day finally came with Bath Fitters, we got a stop work order from the city because they tried to do the job without getting a permit. That caused more delays. When they pulled out the tile they didn't notice a section of the wood that was dry rot. As the project went on with Bath Fitters they continued to fail inspection and used drywall in the shower instead of wet wall. The shower pan was too big so they tried to shimmy it into place with spacers leaving a gap for water to run to the slab. They failed to even get the drywall they put in within 1/4 inch of the shower pan so they had another guy come out and move the drywall. This guy had a bad attitude and moved it so the holes didn't align with the shower fixtures. At this point we were fed up and fired Bath Fitters from the job. After doing some more research we found Green Bay Remodeling on Yelp. They had a great reputation so we called up Zach and asked for a quote. His quote was reasonable so we said your hired! What came next we didn't expect. Zach went to the permit office the same day we hired him to finalize the permit. We didn't think it would happen this fast. The next day he showed up with all the materials. The third day the workers came to start the job. They were very polite and took great care to keep the house clean of dust from the construction. They always showed up on time and ready to work hard. The bathtub and shower tiles were installed in less than a week and they passed all their inspections with flying colors. We are so happy that we finally get to take a shower after 5 months of waiting for the previous vendor to not complete the job. I would recommend Zach and Green Bay Remodeling to anyone I know. They were the best contractors I have worked with and I trust them fully. For our next project I will definitely call Zach at Green Bay Remodeling to work on the job. read more

Part 1 of 3: Update for my review: Green Bay Remodeling closed my job after final payment, leaving a shower drain that leaks to the subfloor, incredible as it seems. In the interest of full disclosure, some 3 weeks after a bathroom remodel project completion that was 8 weeks late, I went to clean the hair collector in the linear drain and observed an 3/16 inch gap where the linear drain was offset from the drain pipe. Water was free to leak through this opening and into the subfloor space. It took 21 days for Green Bay to fix this problem. And they fixed it without griping.  But according to the City inspector, this is not something the CIty inpsector checks. Again, as I experienced throughout this project, a simple attention to detail by the project manager could have caught and corrected before leaving the job. Either he knew and did not tell me or was not aware of this very simple thing, either way very poor performance. Think twice about hiring this company, they are not 4-stars, regardless of what the reviews state. No 4-star contractor would let problem after problem drag on, nor tolerate employees that concluded this job with a shower that leaks into the subfloor, nor tolerate an project manager and supervisor that hide, obfuscate, and refuse to admit the company did anything wrong. From my experience with Green Bay Remodeling, my problems were not just because of one crew, or one project manager, or one supervisor, but rather there appears to be a systemic problem at the company: little attention to detail at the project level and not being transparent with the client, and a mentality on up the management chain where everyone says the same mantra: "you have a fantastic bathroom, what's the problem?" I do not have fantastic bathroom, even though that is  at Green Bays tells me. I did not get everything I wanted on this project. Green Bay seems eager to honor, and respond to, and repair, warranty problems such as mine. However it took 3 weeks before any work was performed to address the latest problem.   With Green Bay you will eventually get pretty much what you want and a quality product, but you have to be very careful. Watch them, and preferably have someone on hand with remodeling experience for over sight. read more

When we discovered that we had an urgent need to replace a leaking sliding patio door, I sent contact inquiries to several contractors. The first response came from the office at Green Bay Remodeling. After gathering some information about my project an appointment was scheduled for an evening visit to inspect the project site and advise me on options for the rep[air of the water damage. Danny Lebowsky arrived precisely on time for our meeting and listened carefully as I described the water damage which appeared to be caused by a leak in the sliding door. While we had originally thought of the project as a replacement for the slider, as I talked with Danny I came to realize that a better option would be to erect a wall with a window and pet door. This made perfect sense due to a close-by door opening to the same deck which was outside the slider. Working together, Danny and I developed a scope of work which included a plan to repair subfloor and any structure that was water damaged. The plan was designed to cause the least damage to the existing plank flooring. Our discussion evolved into a contract which listed each item of work and the payment benchmarks. Danny assured me that he would serve as project manager and that work would be continuous once all materials were available. That night I knew that I had found my contractor. Danny provided regular updates on job scheduling while we waited for the delivery of the window. Work on the wall began a few days before the arrival of the window. The crew would arrive every day as scheduled and I watched as they completed their quality work. I was so pleased that I worked with Danny to add two additional projects which would run consecutively: new accent molding around windows and the garage door followed by repainting the full exterior of the house. Again I was very pleased by the craftsmanship of everyone who worked on the project. Danny either visited the site daily or called to give me updates. We are very pleased with the final result of all aspects of the three projects and would gladly have the Green Bay team work with us again. read more

Having moved to the area a couple years ago, our "overpriced" 50 yr-old house needs some work. After a random search call from a contractor, I decided to get the free quote and see what they'd come up with for a project we've been contemplating - turning a slider into an exterior wall/exterior door increasing room for fam rm storage - we haven't been disappointed. Zack and Ben stopped over on a Sunday and noted some cracks and slight buckling in the exterior that could indicate foundation issues. They recommended a civil and soil engineer provide some input and plans - everything started very quickly and ran efficiently. Some possible substandard construction practices and soil shift/house settle affecting the foundation of the house were remedied with underpinning one corner of the house and cement repair, along with a perimeter drain. Not having anything to compare to, the contracts seemed a little pricey (what foundation work isn't?), but I've been very happy with the quality AND pace of the work and more so with Zack's (and Ben's) attention to detail and focus on work quality. They even had their guys come back twice to make the completed project meet THEIR expectations, even if not requested by or the discrepancy found by me, which I appreciate greatly and feel is an incredibly important attribute in this type of business relationship. I'm normally leery in recommending anyone for this type of thing, but would recommend Green Bay and Zack for his project management. They're willing to work within the customer's budget and will do the best they can for what you need (i.e., cheaper components or solution where needed, but I'm convinced would still provide the same quality work). And we got the project done that we wanted and a nicely-done exterior repaint included. They're concerned with the whole project not taking longer than it has to (increasing price) and keeping prices within contract. We look forward to working with them in the future for the stuff we WANT to do, instead of what we kinda have to do. read more

We had the *BEST* experience with Green Bay Remodeling! Our home turned out better than we could have imagined. Ariel, our Project Manager, was knowledgable, friendly, responsive, and always acted ethically and professionally. He also gracefully navigated heated design disputes between my husband and I, and I'm happy to say we are still married!! (haha) We appreciated Ariel's sincere desire to have the project come out exactly as we envisioned, regardless of whether it meant extra work for his crew. Ariel gave us a realistic timeline of the work (though we were delayed 11 months by the city's permitting process) and actually finished well ahead of schedule. Ariel went well ABOVE AND BEYOND with efforts for a very beautiful outcome and happy clients. Our construction team was careful to clean up any mess at the end of the day and was very respectful of our deadlines, schedules, and our tenant (who lived in her little cottage throughout the noise and inconvenience of construction). The construction bid was on the high side of those we interviewed but we very much appreciated not being "nickel and dimed" as friends were experiencing from a different company at the same time. The bid price they submitted on the contract was what we paid, despite the price of lumber going up enormously and unexpectedly during Covid, and we liked that we paid in stages as work was completed. This was a large kitchen remodel, turning a bedroom into an open-concept extension of the kitchen, adding a large deck, replacing floors, and painting (we also upgraded media and HVAC through other companies happening during the project and our construction team worked well with them). We hired Green Bay Remodeling -- which has an "F" Rating with the Better Business Bureau -- when timing and trust really mattered for our family. We wanted to remodel our kids' bedrooms, a bathroom, and our laundry room so everything would be ready before our daughter was born. We made that clear, and we were told the timeline would be met. That is not how our experience went -- everything shifted after we signed. The project turned into months of delays, poor follow-through, a designer who ghosted us, an architect who couldn't take accurate measurements, and project management that was nowhere near what we were led to expect from a "high-end" service. As costs kept going up (to ~$300/sqft, double what's in the photos), we lost confidence in the team and the process and eventually canceled. The dispute later became serious enough that the State licensing board found Green Bay "responsible for one or more possible violations" of California contractor law and issued them an advisory notice. Green Bay eventually paid back our money, but that did not give us back the time, stress, or disruption to our family. Now, more than 15 months later, we have to start the whole project over with a new contractor and new designs (see photos for where they tried to put a pocket door). If you are considering this company, do extra diligence, document everything in writing, and visit the CSLB site so you understand your rights. I recently had my master bathroom remodeled. It is an odd shaped space with strange angles, and I was nervous about what the final cost would be. I live in Marin County, and I got several estimates. One contractor recommended by my NextDoor website told me it would probably cost $85,000, and take somewhere between 15-16 weeks to complete! A few contractors who came to my house and looked at the job told me they would get back to me within a week with some initial estimates and timelines. I never heard back from any of them. Very frustrating. Then I found Green Bay Remodeling Inc. My project manager was Zack Ilinetsky, and he has excelled at every step along the way. His initial visit to the house was very informative. He looked at the space that needed remodeling and had some initial ideas that were right on and eventually ended up being part of the final product. I am extremely pleased with the quality of the work, his team of workers (Gerzon, Martin, Jose, and Macario), and their attention to detail. Zack works every day but Saturday. I routinely work 12 hour days, so I was mostly gone during much of the work. This was not a big deal, because I literally heard from Zack every day with an update on the project. If he needed to meet with me personally, he either met me at my place of work, or he would arrange to come out on a Sunday, as needed. His initial estimate was spot-on and extremely reasonable. Not long ago, Green Bay Remodeling completed an extensive remodel of our kitchen and upstairs bathroom. The kitchen was a complete re-do - everything was replaced, and even walls were removed or added to create an open space. Zack Ilinetsky was our point of contact throughout this large project. He worked with us to draw up the initial plans, and guided us through the process of selecting cabinets, counters, fixtures, and everything else we needed to completely redo our kitchen. Zach obtained the required permits from the city and kept us informed on all aspects of the project. He promptly addressed any concerns we might have, and made sure that we were satisfied as the work progressed. He was even willing to make minor modifications of the project or to do a bit extra without additional charge when he could. Typically, the work crew consisted of about 3 men who actually did the demolition and new construction, supervised by Zach. We pretty much just dealt with Zack, and he provided instructions to the workers. During demolition, it became clear that removal of a wall required relocation of a weight-bearing beam. Review by an engineer and approval of the change by the city was unexpectedly necessary. Zack kept us informed throughout the process, and once construction could resume, his crew worked over weekends and holidays to complete the project and minimize the delay. As proof of our satisfaction, we are beginning a remodel and mold remediation on an enclosed sunroom and living room extension, and again will use Zack and Green Bay for this project. read more

I am very pleased to write a very strong note of appreciation and recommendation for the wonderful work done on our house (620 Euclid Ave. in Berkeley) by the various crews of Green Bay Remodeling, which was organized and coordinated by the project manager Zack Ilinetsky in the most professional and at the same time personally very considerate and personable fashion. The work involved a new partial roof, sealing cracks in the stucco outside, the complete painting of the house outside and of all the extended wood of the decks, stairs and terraces, the replacement of custom-made windows in the kitchen, the dining area and in the study, the remodeling of one bathroom (replacing a bathtub with a walk-in shower, new toilet, new water sink and retiling of floor and walls), painting of the living room, replacement of the kitchen counter top, sealing of basement, new water heater, foundation work and other things to complete remodel the house. All this work was done very efficiently, on time and with excellent craftsmanship. While we are very grateful to the excellent crews, with many workers involved, our highest praise goes to Zack who made sure that the work was done with least interruption to our daily routine as retired seniors who stay home most of the time, that we were involved in all decisions and that we were satisfied with the result. The project was originally only for the upgrade of our 2 bathrooms and then as we experienced the day to day project management, professionalism of the PM and the onsite workers and quality of craftmanship and work we then decided to move forward with a complete remodel of the interior of our home. The project was recently completed and we can thankfully say that we were more than 100% satisfied with the outcome and as we invited family, friends and neighbors to see what was done they also were very impressed with the quality of the work and new beauty of our home which was originally built in 1960. Our home now has a very modern feel while still maintaining a very comfortable, up to date functionality and most important a comfortable, warm and welcoming environment. We are extremely happy and proud with the results and plan on continue our relationship with Green Bay Remodeling with our plans for having the exterior of our home updated. We hired Green Bay Remodeling to replace the double front door to our house. They were professionals from beginning to end and produced quality results - even going beyond the call of duty. We highly recommend them! Our project was managed by Neal Katz and David Bar. Both were very friendly and up-front about Green Bay Remodeling's history, capabilities, policies and procedures, and helpful with regards to the insurance claim. Their quote seemed a bit high, but we were facing a somewhat custom job that other contractors had declined, and it as within the insurance allowance, so decided to move forward with Green Bay. David and Neal had won our trust - and retained it throughout the process. Green Bay stained the doors, installed the hardware and then installed the doors themselves. They open and close perfectly with no drafts, damage, marks or other inadvertent damage. They hauled away the old doors and left the work area clean. Beyond the call of duty... When the work was complete, I signed off that the work was complete. However, after Neal and David left, I realized the second (dummy) door handle had not been installed. Even though I had signed off on the work as complete, they graciously sent someone out to "complete" the installation. We appreciated the fact that they understood the need to satisfy the customer and not just a form. It's why we chose them in the first place. Anxious to make home improvements before selling our house, my wife and I began plans with Home Depot. HD's service & follow-up were poor, so we dumped them and turned to Yelp! Green Bay Remodeling was Yelp!'s highest-rated general contractor in our area, so we decided to give them a try. We were impressed from the very first phone call with Green Bay's professionalism. Unlike almost every contractor we have dealt with in 30+ years at multiple locations, Green Bay is GREAT at keeping customers in the loop, being punctual, honoring commitments, and doing quality work. We highly recommend them. By the way, our project included demo and replacement of kitchen counter, sink, appliances, and lighting, installation of new quartz countertop, stone tile backsplash, sink/faucet/garbage disposal, dishwasher, oven, electric stove, as well as minor work around the house (closet door repair, medicine cabinet and light fixture installations). Zack was our Project Manager and main point of contact. Zack has a friendly, polite, high-energy, can-do personality, and really knows how to give a customer a comfort level and assure them that they and their needs and concerns are a top priority. Saul, our foreman, is a master of numerous crafts, and like every Green Bay person we encountered, he was friendly yet businesslike, hardworking, considerate and a pleasure to have in our home. Green Bay Remodeling is a wonderful company to work with. Our new roof - a complicated one with cupolas and two connected twelve-sided structures - is absolutely beautiful! We realized we needed a new roof on our home when fall rains arrived. We met with several roofing contractors and chose to work with Green Bay Remodeling, a Concord-based company that services the greater San Francisco Bay Area. We met with Project Contractor Benjamin D., and he explained the process of reroofing our home. He showed us photos of our roof, explaining its problems. He discussed the procedures for removing our old roof, and how the new roof replacement would be done. Benjamin's presentation was detailed, clear, and far more professional than our meetings with other roofing contractors. When the work began, Benjamin ran a smooth operation: He kept us apprised of the schedule each day. He was very efficient in managing his team of roofers. They arrived on time, and when they left at the end of each day the property was spotless and debris-free. The project was completed on the date projected, before new rainstorms arrived. Ben and his team took great pride in their work. Our new roof is really a work of art! And we have end-of-project photos taken on the roof to prove it.
