A great little taco joint, bright and airy, delicious smells emanating from the open air kitchen, with multi-hued bottles of sauces at the ready. The carrot tacos were special. Really great flavors and creative menu. We had the steak platter because it had a variety of things from the menu to sample. The steak we cooked perfectly and could be cut with a fork! The corn and beans were really flavorful and the tamale tots were a super creative was way to have the flavors of tamale in a crunchy nugget. The three tacos we tried were the beef birria, pork birria and the chicken. All were delish but the beef was my favorite. The portions are generous and we ended up taking food home (yay leftovers!) One of the best meals I've had in a long time. We got the bavette steak, rock bass ceviche (a special), and a small pozole and it was plenty for two. It was the perfect order for a nice dinner out because the bavette comes with small portions of the sides that looked most interesting to us - baked corn, "tamale tots," and beans. Everything was exceptionally good, but the tamale tots were my least favorite and a bit of a disappointment - they were basically average hush puppies. This humble dining room has something going on. The menu is not exactly vast, but seems to cover the bases with both beefy and vegan options. On the way to the restroom to wash up, I peeked into the kitchen to see what's what around there. A gaggle of younger than middle aged white dudes all looked up at me from their toil in unison. My family was raised on Mexican Cartel money laundering taco shops in the desert Southwest that all seem to have a similar vibe. (and spicy carrots) So we needed a minute to try to wrap our minds around this. This all felt more Moroccan or Indian wrapped in corn tortillas. We shared the roasted carrot taco, chilaquiles taco, and zucchini taco, plus the chips and salsa and an order of papas bravas. Could not recommend any of these more! The papas bravas were cooked to perfection - super crispy on the outside (without being really greasy) and so, so soft inside! And the aioli in them was delicious! Their variety of drinks is small & they don't carry any ciders, which was disappointing because I saw signs elsewhere for local cider tastings. Green Crow has a nice atmosphere and an open kitchen. The menu is interesting and the ingredients are fresh. The tortillas are freshly made and delicious--soft, but with a little bit of crispness. Service is fast and efficient. Despite this, all of the tacos we had seemed bland and the fillings mushy. While a hominy purée in a taco sounds interesting, the effect was akin to cream of wheat and did nothing to add any flavor or texture to the taco. What was missing in everything we ate here was a spark of flavor as well as variety of texture. The addition of something crisp and crunchy or a little spice would have been really welcome: pico de gallo, cilantro, tomatoes, cucumbers, green onions, tomatillos, peppers, cabbage etc. read more

It's good but overly fancy tacos and quesadillas. I didn't like the atmosphere which was a little odd somehow.

The food is pretty good, with a limited menu and exciting rotating specials. Certainly on the pricier side ($6.50/taco), but I don't have too much of an issue here as the ingredients seem fresh and of a good quality. The issue I have is that this is a restaurant where you place your order at the counter, and the only "service" is when your food is brought out to you. You get your own water, utensils, and napkins at a station and after your meal there is a clear expectation of bussing your own place (as can be seen by the totes near the water/silverware station containing dirty dishes). So why, when there is little service provided, am I prompted to at minimum tip 18% when ordering at the counter (with other steps of what I believe were 20% and 20%+). It makes me feel taken advantage of to only be met with these default options in a relatively high-pressure ordering environment (line of customers waiting to order). Please- if you aren't providing a wait staff service, raise your menu prices if the profits are not high enough, or adjust your defaults to a reasonable percentage for the services that are provided. Disappointed to feel bad after what would have otherwise been an enjoyable meal. read more
