Just several weekends ago we met up with some family who move to Port Townsend not too long ago. It was suggested that we go to Owl Sprit Cafe which we were thrilled to hear it come up. This latest visit would be our third time here and the food is as good as ever! This time around I got their Banh MI sandwich which had pork belly for the meat. It was fantastic! That pork practically melted in my mouth it was so good! The veggies that came along with sandwich were very fresh too! We spotted desserts and I got won over by the carrot cake and as expected it was wonderful! The small dining room was intimate, warm, and inviting after walking around PT for a cold couple hours. The service was good and the food was delicious. I enjoyed a vegetarian burrito, my wife had a really good chicken sandwich, and our son wolfed down a toasted cheese sandwich and tomato bisque soup. The food is good! It's a lovely, warm place, small and cheerful. It's pricy, $20 a sandwich with no sides. The sweet potato fries are good but the basket is small so don't expect a heap. The service was nice but exceedingly slow and got two out of five orders wrong, and they weren't hard orders, no changes or weird stuff. Recently had a septuagenarian get together (3 brothers and a cousin and spouses plus a next generation son/nephew) here. Small place but the waitress did a great job getting us situated and then getting all our various orders taken and delivered. We all had soup, salad or sandwiches. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the food here. I got a taco salad to go and it was just disproportionately filled with beans and corn. I think that the price for the food is again, disproportionately expensive and the food was just bland and undesirable. What a great find! This is a wonderful little restaurant just off Water St. It is small but has a full menu and decent beer selection. We're vegan and went with the Bahn Mi sandwich which as simply fantastic. Excellent bread, spicy vegan mayo and tasty mushrooms. Very generous portion of taco salad with beef! Not pictured are the bag of tortilla chips. I think this is big enough that it can be shared between 2 people or possibly saved as leftovers. For $20, this had me full way past dinner. Regardless, this is a cute place to stop by for a lunch or dinner date with very cool and cozy art. The desserts at the counter are also really yummy, especially the brownie with miso sauce! Don't get caught red handed eating dessert while waiting for pick up like we did. Been here many times previously with a very positive experience. My husband and I went Jan 16, 2026 around 1pm. It was good timing, there were only 3 other couples in there and our favorite table in the window was available. I saw only one staff member a woman (with greying hair). She walked over, no greeting and snapped the menu out of my husband's hand. She immediately starting scolding us for sitting at a table that was not fully set up and how we should have choosen a table that is fully set up. She then took a bottle of disinfectant and began aggressively spraying the table top and spraying my husband I as well, as she continue to complain that she had other things to do besides cleaning and setting up a table for us. We were both in shock. As she walked away, I noticed the other 3 couples looking over at what just transpired, seemingly as dismayed as we were. I also noticed that they were all sitting there, with no food or water, menus stacked on the edge of their tables. At that point, our decision to leave was an easy one. As we walked out, one patron smiled uncomfortably at me and said "Had enough of that abuse?" We walked down a block to La Cocina and had an excellent, fresh meal with friendly service. We both agree that we don't know if we'll ever want to return to Owl Sprit. read more

I planned a birthday trip for a lovely friend of mine, and I chose this place to fit everyone's dietary needs. They knocked it out of the park with the taste, flavor, and allergen needs for all 4 of us. They offer gluten free/ vegan options which is a must for half our party. I ordered the Banh Mi, and I would 100% go back for that sandwich. I didn't leave a crumb on my plate! All the other ladies also ate all of their food. Not pictured were the sweet potato fries with a spicy aioli! They last maybe two minutes as an appetizer. The cage was extremely busy with one server, and she was amazing, and very accommodating. Had a beautiful lunch here alone, sat outside, this summer. My friend highly recommended it and I was not disappointed. Server was great, sorry I didn't catch his name. Sitting outside was charming, ended up chatting with the couple next to me, super nice people. I love that I could find a gluten-free, vegan dish here easily. Had the Cauliflower Taco Bowl at the waiter's suggestion... and it was indeed delicious. Next time I will try the Mediterranean Bowl as I suspect I will like it even more, but I was very happy with my lunch. Ordered a vegetarian burrito and a vegan burrito for take out. The servers were super friendly and accommodating. We used the bathroom while we waited, and I've got to say, it was one of the cutest bathrooms I've been in in a long time! Who knew you could find sloth wallpaper?! When our burritos were ready we both remarked on how heavy the bag was - meaning well-stuffed burritos! They were SO DELICIOUS! The veggie and vegan burritos had all of the same things except no cheese or sour cream with the vegan. The grilled zucchini, peppers, and other vegetables were amazing. It was the perfect meal to take across the street and eat by the water! We finished and were full, but not uncomfortable, plus we had packed in a lot of vegetables, which can be hard to do when you're eating out. The food was incredible, the service was not great, the ambiance and vibe of the cafe was lovely. From the moment we walked in the door it felt like we were a problem to the front of house. He motioned two options for us to sit so we started to sit at the one closest to us I thought he motioned to (the only open table in that area). As I sat he yelled from across the room "no not there", apparently he meant a table that had dishes on it. We walked to the other clean table he motioned to. It was delicious. I chose this restaurant because they specialize in gluten-free food. The decor is very nice , a very comfortable place for parties of one to six people. My mother does not Yelp, so she asked me to share her experience. This afternoon, a crime was committed. My mother and stepfather attended luncheon here. My mother is a devout vegetarian. They ordered the portobello mushroom sandwich. When the sandwich was delivered to their table, upon the bun of lies was pork of some kind. Halfway through did my mother realize she was eating pig meat. It is most devastating for her, and she is currently curled up with our family cat, attempting to delve into a new normal of meat in her system, a shock after having gone without it for so long.
