Being a vegetarian, I can say that for a Burger place, Green Dot Stables have a little more to offer than just the regular black bean burger. The Tofu burger, Portobello Mushroom burger and even the basic grilled cheese burger are all great. The truffle and herbs fries are great sides along with the drink of your choice. About the ambiance, it's a rather clumsy and closed place which is really good if you like eating in closed environment. However, you won't struggle for eating space. The bar has a lot of options. Everything on the menu is small and thats is why this place has an advantage that you can eat and try multiple small burgers. Definitely recommended. read more

I can see how people call this a "foodie" spot. A menu that is under $5? What! I did a To-Go order of Sliders, fries, & a dessert (slider). My 4 slider choices (in order of favorite to least favorite): Fried chicken - my personal favorite, the syrup really brings out the Hawaiian roll taste, and the panko breading isn't overwhelming. Coney Island dog - a hot mess a slider, but oh so delicious. I ordered it without onions, but it's got everything a coney island dog is made up of Impossible burger - pretty decent; a little thicker on meat than the others - a good choice if you're craving a few bites of a burger Hot Brown - this had me at bacon. YUM! Some grilled chicken, a little cheese, and sauce - okay, a win, even if it is my least favorite. S'mores - surprisingly good! If you're looking for a place that's not too expensive with great and interesting food, Green Dot Stables is the place to go. But make sure you go on a Sunday so you can get the to-die-for Vermont cheddar poutine - crispy thin fries topped with sausage gravy and Vermont cheddar - it's delish. Be sure to get there at opening to get a table and reduce the wait for your food. If they say, it will be half an hour for the sliders, it probably will be, so order a soup or salad and fries/poutine so you'll have some food coming out while you wait. The soups are also great. Today, I had the chicken paprikash soup ($3), which was spicy and flavorful. Wish I could learn to make that one at home. The soup came out first, followed by the poutine ($3). For the sliders, I ordered the new muffuletta slider ($3) and the PBJ ($2). The muffuletta was better than expected though they could chop the olive/veggie salad topping a bit finer. The meats were nicely grilled and a bit spicy and salty (not too much of either) making it very flavorful. The PBJ is no ordinary PBJ. Since the bun is grilled, the peanut butter comes out melting and oozing and the jelly is actually raspberry chipotle jam, so it's spicy. Anyway, just trust me that it's completely delicious and a special treat. Since Green Dot changes up their menu regularly, sometimes favorite items disappear. I wish they would bring back the hummus appetizer - it was served with grilled naan and was outstanding. One last tip, try the mystery meat item. Many times I've found that the mystery meat slider of the week is the most gourmet item on the menu. This week's offers was ruby trout with a ruby red grapefruit curd - sounded pretty interesting. Just because it's called mystery meat doesn't mean it's a weird meat you wouldn't want to eat - it's just their chef's special of the week. read more

Opportunity came a knocking on this Tuesday night while in the "D", so the five of us decided to patronize the equestrian themed Green Dot Stables in a relatively discrete location near the Ambassador Bridge. We were glad to see that we could get seated immediately upon arrival since the place is usually crowded at lunch time and when there are sporting or special events in town. The history of the Green Dot is somewhat shrouded in mystery as is the mystery meat slider special. On this night it was the wild tuna. The Green Dot's claim to fame originates from it's variety of slider sandwiches and a menu where all food items are either $2 or$3. It is obvious from the menu selections that the proprietors have taken the simple concept of a slider to a new gourmet culinary level. The menu has a wide range of imagination and flavor inspired combinations to choose from. For example our group chose gyro, sweet potato bar-b-que bacon, fried bologna, fried chicken ceasar, Philly cheesesteak, pork schnitzel and cheeseburger sliders. Combined with some ice cold Strohs beers, the "Stables" truffle and herb fries, chicken tortilla soup and wedge salad we all had a very enjoyable dining experience. I tip my derby to the creativity and culinary passion expressed in the offerings served up by the Green Dot Stables team. Will definitely return to this Motown gem. read more

Been coming here for 30 yrs- long before it was a slider joint. Worked at the Detroit News and it was a quick ride to get lunch. Now, I go one a month. A comment re: "rudeness" of staff. Folks- its a pandemic- staff turnaround is constant. Its not the London Chop house. My only complaint is that they actually took the Fried Bologna sliders off the menu for a while (They are back) The Cuban is excellent. I have gone with a friend who is Vegan and they have a few no meat sliders. If you want quick service- just a thought- don't go after a BB or Football game. I love the place. I love Xiao x Traveler. Here is why. We know Xiao seems like a very reserved man. He seems rough, rude, cold, and distant on the outside. But on the inside, he really is a caring man. The Traveler helps bring that side out. Xiao is very hesitant to be with people, and not for the reason they think. He avoids them because he doesn't want his karmic debt to affect them, which can make him seem like he doesn't want to be around them. But the Traveler spends time with Xiao, bringing him out of his shell, and teaches him newer customs of Liyue. The Traveler also takes Xiao to the more bustling places of Liyue, as well, and Xiao goes along with it for the Traveler because he trusts them. Along with the fact that the Traveler is very resistent to karmic debt as well. We can also clearly see that Xiao has a soft spot for the Traveler. Sure, he's a bit rude when they first meet, but they slowly warm up to each other, and Xiao even saves the Traveler. And I think that is beautiful. I've been to GDS twice before, but the wait was about 40 minutes each time so I went elsewhere. I got lucky one weekday afternoon as there wasn't a wait. We were seated near the bar area. The tables are small but you're not ordering huge platters of food so that wasn't an issue. We shared six sliders. The catfish, fried chicken, and pork belly were our favorites. We also had the fried bologna, hot brown (chicken, mornay, bacon), and the mystery meat which was buffalo that day. We ordered truffle and herb fries also, but they were just ok. The New England clam chowder was very good though. I must say the cocktails are great here. I had the Zug Island Iced Tea, a Green Dot Wallbanger, and the mystery cocktail which was a mixture of blueberry, lemonade, and moonshine (I think). All very good. I'll definitely return. read more

Ive been coming to Green Dot for the past 5 years. This is the perfect place to take picky eaters from out of town. The prices are incredible, even on cocktails! Anywhere from $2-$5 for almost everything. Their menu is constantly changing and they always have a funky featured item. The decor is lodge style, equestrian. A cozy escape for a gloomy,rainy day. Absolute 5 star service. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and great with kids. We loved the Mac and cheese and clam chowder. You NEED them in your life. The Mac was some of the best I've had. The sliders were so fun. Love that it's mix and match. The hot chicken was probably my favorite along with the corned beef Reuben style. Least favorite was the "mystery meat" because the pork seemed overcooked but nothing could put a damper on our experience. The restaurant was very busy even though we went at what I would think would have been an off time between 3 and 4pm. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait for our table and we could wait on the patio, but it didn't take that long. However, it did take kind of forever to get the sliders which is my only complaint. The sliders are worth at least somewhat of a wait though, after trying the catfish slider and the Korean slider (which had peanut butter? But was somehow a delicious combination?). But in all the times I've ever been there, I've never spent more than $25 for two people. How this relates to business is that I consistently "buy" a table for $25. This time, I went on a blind date. It was unclear how it might unfold when we sat down. So, we started with a few drinks. Then we had a couple more. We were already to $20, and food was still an option we hadn't decided on, yet. But this question of what we were ingesting seemed to bother our server, who asked if we'd be ordering food. I don't know, I said. Leave a menu, but bring a round. What server brought was some form of a manager, who asked the same question. Would we be dining? Perhaps. So, we were literally asked to leave. I'm not kidding. Here we were, spending our money like good petit bourgeois, buying our seats on a moderately paced weeknight. We have been coming there for years and we're there to celebrate a birthday. It was so crowded at the table there was no room to move once the food arrived. I take all my friends here who visit from out of town. There are a lot of vegetarian options which is nice - the tofu bahn mi and impossible burgers are great! I wasn't a huge fan of the grilled cheese though. The seasonal options are good too. There are sometimes vegetarian options that are pretty tasty. Everything is reasonably priced too. The drinks and food are cheap and you can try a lot of different things because the menu is all sliders. Definitely get the sweet potato and cucumber salads! And the French fries are all super good too.
