Got a groupon deal for a 90 min massage + 30 min facial. The lady was nice enough to fit me into her busy schedule BUT I am extremely dissatisfied with the service. 1. The massage felt rushed and superficial, massages my arms for maybe 1 min each total. 2. The deal was for 90 min and I got a 60 min massage (she didn't set a timer or anything as they usually do so you know you got your money's worth). 3. The facial... wasn't a facial. She barely cleaned my face with paper towels and water from idk where, she used a couple creams and then put a mask on my face and left me in the room for like 30min waiting. She then peeled it off and left mask residue all over my neck and ears. I'm not sure if this was all bc I used a groupon deal, but even that money seems like a waste. I honestly wouldn't go back here. Update: called groupon and told them my experience and they gave me a full refund (likely bc others have also complained). I told them about me unable to make an appointment on their website and she didn't give me a reply. Then I said I want to make an appointment and she responded "What service you want" and I asked about their couples massage and she said they are not doing couple massage because of Covid-19. Had an appointment, got there and no one ever showed up to answer the door or answer my phone call. Called the next day and expressed I never got to have my massage and if I could have it rescheduled, regardless if the groupon code was going to be expired because they already took the money out of the voucher. The lady on the phone expressed I wasn't allowed and have to buy one, until I had someone else call and they agreed to them and not me. I got there, was laying down and was having trouble getting comfortable because there was no cushion on the head space, and waited 10 minutes before someone arrived inside, no words, no noise, I just started to get massaged. I have been to quite a few massage places before, and honest to god, I am left with bruises on parts of my body today and I was only there yesterday. The woman was not massaging my muscles, left 2-3 times to answer the door or was doing something else outside. And was left for about 25 minutes of the time I had in there (90 min). Had a heater over my face where I had trouble breathing and only asked if this massaging was ok when she could see my body tensing up and pushing away from her. At the end she told me she couldn't use my code anymore (because they already took it) and expressed that it had to be my mom that used it or I had been here before. I kindly expressed to her my mother doesn't even live in the state and that I had an apt here before that you guys never gave me because they never opened the locked door. I received a Groupon GC. Making the appointment was ridiculous. Phone answered by non English speaking woman who told me 'no English, call back' on multiple attempts. Asked Groupon for assistance, Groupon supposedly provided them with my contact info, I was never contacted. Finally got someone who spoke enough English to make the appointment. Arrived about 15 minutes prior to appointment. Door was locked, rang bell, no answer. Called number posted on door; non English speaking woman answers phone and tells me to go away, come back later. I lost it! Laid on the doorbell and screamed at her to let me in for almost 2 minutes before someone came to the door. At this point I am less than relaxed, I am ushered into what is likely the only massage room and left there. In a few minutes another woman, with a better grasp of English, eating an apple comes to the room. Asks how I am. She proceeds to tell me they are all Asian and acts as if this makes it ok that they don't have an employee that speaks English. The dermabrassion treatment was the first I had ever had, not sure if it's typical to have red welts and be slightly black and blue the next day. The hot stone massage was pleasant. I was not asked any preliminary medical questions, which I typically have been prior to these types of services. IE, do I take any meds or have any medical conditions they should be aware of, I suspect the inability to speak English makes that impossible. I did not see any type of licenses displayed. Not sure if I have just had the experience of higher class spas or what--but this was surely a "unique" experience. The massage room was very chilly, the lady that performed the facial and massage treatments was very nice. However, it was not very relaxing at all. My facial consisted of warm air blown into my face, the kind that uncomfortably takes your breath away. Alongside that, I wasn't expecting facial gauze. Kinda took me aback. I went to the Green Garden Asian Spa as part of a "living social" deal. It said a 60 minute massage was normally $80 so I figured $40 was a steal, I was beyond wrong. When I called to set up the appointment I was told the deal was only for the Colonie location which is located at 1843 Central Ave. The Spa is set back behind the UPS store on the side of the complex. The actual appearance of the building was rather clean and somewhat inviting. When I got close I noticed the door was locked and there was a doorbell to the right with a phone number above it. I pushed and about a minute later was greeted by the receptionist. I said I was there for the living social deal and she did not seem to understand so I had to show the voucher on my phone. At first she said "you pay $40 after massage" until I convinced them only the tip was necessary because of the "deal". I was shown the massage room by another woman who was the masseuse. I was confused because typically there are sheets on the bed and a head holster at the top of the bed (as I've been to over 40 massage businesses in the past). There were white towels underneath one of those plastic sheets that pull out, like the kind you see at the doctor's office. I was not asked anything, just told to lay on table face down, no introductions were made of names. She did not ask me what my problem areas are. I did not have to sign any form or medical waiver. The head holster was very uncomfortable and was barley padded at all. The massage resembled what you would get from a student in their first month of massage school. It was very unbalanced pressure, extreme to light, there was no symmetry in the massage either until she did my hands and legs and was able to mostly mimic her moves from right arm to left arm. Although she avoided the bottom of my feet for some reason. Let me get to the part where things got awkward. There was about 10 minutes left in the massage and I could see my pants on the floor from the position my head was in, I put them under the table near my head for a reason. I watched her hand graze over my pants and press down for a second (checking if my wallet was in there). As you would think I was fuming thinking, is she really going to try and steal from me? Luckily I was smart and had only brought my car key, cell phone, and money for the tip. I was told to face up towards the ceiling where she did more beyond amateur techniques on my face. The massage finished with an extremely hot towel placed on my back which my skin is still red today from. The last 10 minutes were extremely uncomfortable as all I could think about was how could I have gotten myself into this situation. I had a wonderful time here, and I was very surprised by the number of negative reviews. My boyfriend and I got the couples massage for $100 and we both really enjoyed our massages. If you're expecting a Swedish style massage, you'll be disappointed- the Chinese style of massage is different yet still fantastic and relaxing. The staff memeber who massaged us was friendly and very sweet, and would check in with us to make sure we were enjoying what she was doing and that she wasn't hurting us. I will definitely be visiting this spa again the next time I'm in Albany! read more
