    Lunch special
    David R.

Wonderful restaurant in downtown Lincoln. We had a party of three and got to taste each entree. Invariably there is a winner... not this time. All were delicious and I would have each based on my mood. My starter drink was a Blueberry Mojito, which hit the spot. Rum, blueberry, lime, mint, and soda. Refreshing, mild, and on ice. My wife had a cucumber gimlet. "It was incredible." Food started with a unique "flight of three" soups. We each got to taste the Lobster Bisque, French Onion, and Roasted Red Pepper Gouda soups. We each picked the French Onion as the clear winner, but the others were expertly made and tasty. My entree was a starter offering, the Tuna Poke Bowl. Scrumptious, light, and filling. Served chilled in a stone bowl with chips. The Atlantic Cod and chips were great, with a couple of dipping sauces. Perfectly fried. The third dish was a lunch special, it was a pasta dish with sun dried tomatoes, roasted baby tomatoes, in a red sauce sprinkled with feta cheese. This was so good. We broke down and ordered desserts. The Green Gateau cake is chocolatey with a hint of pistachios. Also had the Apricot Napoleon Torte which is baked up in Omaha and is renowned. Service was superb, thank you Ben! with a relaxing atmosphere, classy decorations, and fun time. We will be back!

Always exceptional service. Perfect place to enjoy a leisurely lunch alone while reading, a romantic evening date or a gals get-together. Easily my favorite restaurant in Lincoln!

Today is game day in nebraska. And it was very crowded. We were really lucky as a table just cleared. We waited for about 5 min for that table to be cleaned up and was ushered to our seat. We lucked out- our table was by the window with a view of the street Our server was very nice. And we got our drinks and food very quickly. I got me the gateau iced tea- that was their special and it tasted wonderful. It was sugar free strawberry and apricot tea. Delicious. And I got me a lobster bisque and crabcake sliders The lobster bisque was delicious. Wonderful and creamy and tastefully seasoned. The crabcake sliders were delicious. Crabcakes were nicely sautéed with crispy edges. The croissants were flakey. Combined- heaven on earth. For desserts, our server actually presented all available desserts on a tray and introduced them all to us. Spoilt for choice I finally picked the green gateau their specialty choc cake with pistachio cream - it was delicious and rich. I loved it - though we just couldn't finish it. We will be back. It was a very enjoyable experience. Definitely 5 stars for us

Ummm....wouldn't recommend brunch here, at least not take out. We had seven meals for takeout. The portion size seemed more suitable for kids meals than adult dishes. For example, I got the French Slam, which was French toast, eggs, and bacon. It included French toast from ONE slice of bread, ONE piece of bacon, and one egg. Not only was this a ridiculous portion, but it didn't include anything to put on top...butter, syrup, jam...anything?? Additionally, several members of our party had missing or incorrect sides. I expected a lot more from this restaurant and was honestly kind of embarrassed presenting this to our family.

Came here on a Monday afternoon for lunch and it wasn't too busy. Got seated right away and given menus. I ordered the French Connection Sandwich with a cup of Lobster Bisque. The bisque was okay, thick soup with a hint of seafood flavor. The sandwich was great! The bread was toasted on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside and handled the pot roast and mushroom gravy really well. I think the bacon and lettuce were unnecessary, but still ate it all. Fed me for two full meals. Would come back just for the sandwich alone. The desserts also looked really good, but that will have to wait for another time.

Of scale restaurant perfect for an evening out I guess the most dependent on your server I want to order the beef. Wellington was a disappointment. Beef cut was a mediocre cut have any topping to it crust was dry. Penne sauce was good. Lobster bisque was tasty, but had a commercial texture to it

My favorite brunch in Lincoln when I visit. My favorites are the bloody Mary, the croque monsieur, rueben sandwich, and their lobster bisque with a salad. It is always hard to choose. I have never had anything I didn't like. On this occasion I had the monsieur and my husband had a rueben. The rueben is definitely one of the top 10 I have ever had. If you are a rueben fan, do yourself a favor and order it! Reservations are helpful!

Excellent meal, atmosphere and service. If you do have a reservation, still plan for a short wait. This appears to be a popular venue! We enjoyed a starter including fresh table-side prepared guacamole, which was a fun and delicious choice served with freshly fried flour tortilla chips. The black and blue ribeye special was outstanding, along with an excellent wine pairing. My wife and I were very pleased with the waitstaff as well. Professional and fun.

My favorite restaurant in Lincoln. Very cute and cozy, could be for a fancy occasion or casual, equally as good for brunch or dinner. I get the beignets every time, they are incredible. Service is great and everyone is very nice.

Love the food at Green Gateau! We've been for dinner, lunch, and brunch and never had a bad bite. The only down side to our most recent visit is that we were there for brunch and never once did they offer a coffee refill. I give a lot of grace for slow service in these times but at our most recent visit it was both slow and then when our waiter was at the table he was borderline rude, seemed annoyed to be answering our questions. The crepes and lemon cake more than made up for it, but it definitely was unusual for this top notch restaurant.

I still dream about that cauliflower steak with the side of rutabaga. One of the best things I've ever eaten anywhere. But it hasn't been on the menu for a long time. The shining star on the menu : the deviled eggs and the rotating seasonal deviled eggs. It's smart to go during happy hour and get deviled eggs and really well-crafted cocktails! The walls are decorated with musicians, and the staff wear old band T-shirts, which is neat but other than that, the music theme doesn't play out anywhere else. The restaurant doesn't have live music, there's no music or musicians in the menu names. I've had brunch here twice, and both times I went with the banana bread French toast topped with espresso butter. It's rich and delicious. Last time I had a side of scrambled eggs and they were prepared & seasoned well. The brunch buffet is fairly standard: fruit, pastry, eggs, meats, biscuits & gravy. Nothing really stands out about the brunch service here, whereas lunch and dinner are stellar.

And they do offer cocktails, soda and iced tea Hubby and I have gone non alcoholic and we chose ice tea. We had salmon cakes for appetisers, it came out quick Delicious crispy. Hubby's salad came out pretty much the same time. It looked delicious and fresh. Combination of vegetables and tomatoes, croutons and dried cranberries and cheese make the salad look delectable and it didnt disappoint. We both took awhile to decide what we wanted. Every dish looked delicious. We finally decided on steak and meatloaf. My meatloaf is to die for. Hubby ordered the brownie and I got the strawberry mousse. The brownie was light and delicate yet decadent. Let me explain- the brownie is light like a lava cake its a cross between a brownie and a lava cake. Absolutely delish!! It was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The Reading Rainbow has a hearty portion of peanut butter on it, combined with their version of jelly, making this burger extremely filling. Now to the fries, and reason for 4 stars. Both of our fries arrived a little cooler than I would expect for freshly made items. The sweet potato fries were crispy, yet lacked flavor. The truffle fries were disappointing. Unfortunately, the first impression could use some improvement. Upon entering, guests step into a small lobby with two interior doors--one designated as the entrance and the other as the exit. Once inside, a host greets you, hands you a menu, and escorts you to your table. Along the way, you pass the restaurant's salad bar, which should serve as an inviting showcase of the food offered inside. Instead, the salad bar was the low point of my visit. On the day I was there, it appeared messy and poorly maintained. A salad bar requires constant attention to keep it looking fresh, attractive, and clean, and that simply wasn't the case during my visit. Given its prominent location, it creates an impression that management should work harder to improve. The Eatery's menu, however, is extensive and impressive. There's truly something for everyone. The unlimited salad bar is priced at $14.99, or $7.99 when added to an entrée. Based on what I observed, that seemed a bit steep, so I decided to pass. Instead, I ordered the Smokey Chicken Stacker with fries on the recommendation of my server. It turned out to be an excellent choice. The sandwich was flavorful, the fries were perfectly prepared, and the meal arrived at my table less than ten minutes after ordering--a testament to an efficient kitchen. Overall, I came away believing that The Eatery serves solid food, but the décor, atmosphere, and overall layout feel somewhat dated and uninspiring. The appearance of the salad bar was the biggest negative of the experience for me. Would I return? If I lived or worked in the neighborhood, probably yes.
