The owner reached out to me and convinced me to give them another try. I got two beef, two shrimp, and two fish again. The beef were made exactly how I requested. Cilantro and onion only. Honestly at this point I don't know how the fish and shrimp tacos are supposed to be dressed because everytime they are different. Although the tacos were good, I still don't think the fish were made correctly. Last time I had a good one that I loved, it had slaw and sauce on top. This time it had nothing resembling slaw (cilantro and onions mostly) and the sauce. If I'm craving a taco, beef in particular, I'll give them another go, still good food, but I'm sad my favorite fish taco hasn't been what it was. Cesar, I tried and although it was good I can only go up 1 star to three total. It is going up because the food was good, the service better and I appreciate you reaching out. If you add a description of the tacos (how they are supposed to be dressed) and I get them that way next time, I'd be glad to give a better rating. As you can see from below, I was a proponent of the awesome tacos here, but the last 2 times they've messed up my order and the taco dressing is super inconsistent. I ordered 2 beef tacos, cilantro and onion only. As you can tell from my picture, I got only cheese on them. I don't like that kind of cheese do to me they were inedible. I also ordered 2 shrimp and 2 fish tacos. I've never had either consistently made the same way. That's a HUGE NEGATIVE, because so far 3 out of 4 times I've gotten something I didn't like. Sometimes they have slaw, sometimes a sauce, sometimes corn, sometimes pineapple. I never know what I'm going to get on my taco and for this I am less likely to return. I want to know what I'm getting and get it the same everytime. My fish was flavorless and since this time there was no sauce for the flaw it was also inedible. That left us sharing the 2 Shrimp tacos. Which were not made how I remembered. They had corn and pineapple on them I think, which was very different from last time. I didn't like the corn. So we spent $25 on 6 tacos, only 2 were edible, and we're still hungry. This is so sad. Not to mention the service was subpar. The girl there did not want to be there and I could tell. There were no pleasantries. If the owner isn't there, this place isn't worth it anymore. I shouldn't have to check my order for accuracy everytime and I doubt anyone there today would've taken ownership for the problem. This is so opposite from my experience 3 visits ago, and the inconsistency is s business killer! Below is the review I would've left from an update I forgot to post, had they met my expectations consistently... __________________________________-- This place continues to get free top notch authentic tacos for a reasonable price. Not to mention the made to order guacamole--A-mazing! I especially like the fish tacos. In my initial review I expressed them needing more acid. So the next time they came with limes to squeeze on top. Now they've stepped it up and there's a delicious creamy slaw on them. By far my favorite! The service is still great. It takes time when they're busy, but they are mostly great about getting your food out as fast as possible with a great attitude. It's worth the wait! The space is always clean which is a great and welcoming. The cherry on top ... The owner is incredibly friendly and willing to do whatever it takes to make sure customers have a great experience. If you have an issue, let them know, they'll fix it. Me personally, I've only had an issue one time where they nearly forgot my guacamole order. The owner was apologetic and made up for it. Green Ghost is my favorite place for Mexican food. The authenticity reminds me of Hispanic food that I've enjoyed while living on the West coast. We were sat promptly and the waitstaff was very accommodating and checked in on us at the right times. I had the FOUR TACOS - 2 chicken, 2 steak with with rice and beans. My guest had TWO ENCHILADAS with rice and beans. All of our food was made-to-order and tasted fresh. Rice and beans were hot and not mushed or stuck together like they were sitting in a pan in a steam table. The chicken and steak were nicely grilled on there flattop and was paired with just the right amount of cilantro. We ate every bite! Short Version: Food just OK. Service was not good. Overpriced. Long Version: What can I say? It was just OK. I've been excited about this place since it opened. I love the name. I don't know if it is unintentional or intentional, but I see a play on words with "Gringo's Taco" which I find hilarious. My wife and I have been trying to make it over here for a while. We finally did and it was just OK. The biggest issue was that one person was working the register, seating people, running the register, and waiting tables. It took forever to place our order, a long time to get our drinks, and FOREVER to pay. There were only 4 tables and one carry-out customer at the time. The food was OK, but not fabulous. I believe that it is authentic, but I know of at least one other place locally that does it better. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Burrito with no tomatoes. I asked for a side of rice. He said it came with rice and beans. That sounded good, so I let it ride. I received a wrapped burrito in a basket with no sides. When I asked about it he said the rice and beans were in the burrito. Clearly we had an issue with the subtleties of language. So, I left hungry. My wife ordered a shrimp taco, which is the typical small taco seen at what I consider authentic Mexican restaurants. It was beautiful and had a fruit salsa on it. She ordered the Mexican corn on the cob, which came in a bowl, not on the cob. It was the typical Mexican corn with crema. She enjoyed it, but it's not something I care for. My burrito was almost $8 which is OK if it comes with sides, but it doesn't. Chips and Salsa would have made the difference, but I believe they are $5, so we didn't get them either. I doubt I'll go back. Muy bueno! So glad I took Yelps advice on this one! The restaurant is small and the staff is very attentive and helpful. Honestly, I couldn't find fault. They had 4 salsas to choose from. I can't remember the exact types but basically: Mild (salsa verde), Medium (chipotle), Hot (red something or another), and Very Hot (habanero). My sister in law described the "Very Hot" as "white girl hot". She's a white girl, by the way, so I am going to assume it was okay for her to say that. It was spicy but not really all that hot. We started with the guacamole which is made fresh when ordered. It was the best I can remember having, ever. I had the steak burrito with guacamole. It was ridiculously large. It was fantastic. Loaded with steak, beans, pico (or just veggies?), and rice (I don't like rice on burritos but I know what I'm getting when I order one). My co-eaters had the Tortas. One chicken, one pork, and one marinated pork. Get the marinated pork. It was hands down the star of the meal. The deserts were "meh". But if we are being honest, Mexican deserts tend to be a little bland. @$60 for 5 folks and tons of food. Very affordable. Good tacos! I was curious so tried one each of the pork, chicken and fish. Both the chicken and fish tie for first choice, however I'd get the fish without the mayo, doesn't need it and weighted it down. The verde sauce was yummy!! Looks like they make their own corn tortillas. Very soft and held up well. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. I'd go back again if in town. Only one star knocked off because I dislike flour tortillas and for the quesadilla would have liked the choice of corn. read more

Another DoorDash place we tried. We always get a couple of different tacos when we order. Only wish they would package them separately by a wrap or something so we know which is what taco. Not your typical Mexican! Small little shop, very friendly staff and decent food. It is a lot more authentic than your usual ones but it isn't super. They have individual items like tacos and burritos, around $3 a piece. In my opinion, for the price you don't get much, the tacos are kind of small. Honest and thorough review! I ordered the Birria, a chicken taco salad, cheese dip, salsa, and Churros. The Birria was by far the best part. It was fantastic. The au jus dip was not your typical Birria kind. It was very clear, without much spices or flavoring- just fat juice ( could've been better). The taco salad isn't your typical Mexican restaurant kind. No queso dip on it. The bowl was more dense and greasy. It had lots of rice in the salad. The salsa was horrible! By far the worst part of the order. The cheese dip was good/ normal. The churros were good, but probably could've used more caramel drizzle. As i am not a fan of wet burritos, these were definitely a step up from all of the other mexican places i have tried in Mississippi! Delicious, fresh mexican food. Guac was yummy, with lots of tomatoes, onions, cilantro, a few jalapeño pieces (u can ask for with or without jalapeños). On the chunkier side vs creamy side. They have some yummy sauces at the table that were pretty good, which i added to the guac. I got a carne asada burrito which was huge. Good flavors, lots of meat, the tortilla was nicely grilled. Finally tried Green Ghost Tacos-Fondren location Hubs and I went for a bit to eat on a Saturday evening. Place was not full at all. Our waitress was nice and helpful. Entrees I went for the steak and chicken fajitas and hubs tried the steak and chicken burritos bowl. Forgot to mention the app. Queso/Guac (separate) both tasty. "Manager" should be fired. We recently discovered this place and loved the food... until today. My wife ordered the same as she usually does, requesting extra cheese and avocados as the previous time they were a bit stingy. It was take-out and when I got home my wife found there was NO cheese and one tiny piece of avocado. So I drove all the way back where the "manager" refused to make a new sandwich and said all she would do was give me cold cheese and avocado in cups to put on when I got back home - on the original sandwich which was also now cold. I said I didn't drive miles in rush hour traffic to DIY my food and if they couldn't make it right the first time then they should make it right the second time. She adamantly refused and instead refunded my money (cash without the tax but I was too upset then to argue further). I asked her name which I did not understand so I asked her to write it down which she refused. I DO have a photo of this anti-customer "manager" and I wish the owner would contact me. I enjoy the variety of meats I can put in the tacos and empanadas. It tries to be a wait staff restaurant but it feels forced and would work better as counter service. Offered a "taste of flan" then charged us for the two he brought out. Was excited to check out Green Ghost Tacos after a friend had recommended it for good authentic Mexican food. Yes, like other reviews say you have to pay for everything. You will not get free chips and salsa or sides included in your main dish. There is no soda fountain, everything is bottled. The chips were pretty good too, although a bit greasy. I ordered a huevos and chorizo burrito. First off, the burrito is massive and filled with food which is great! I ordered it hoping the chorizo would really be the prominent smoky spicy taste in the burrito, but it all kind of mushed together. My husband got three tacos: the chicken, pork, and steak. The pork was by far the most tasty, it had a smoky sweet taste which we believe came from a pineapple sauce/seasoning. I like Green Ghost. It's my favorite Mexican place in Jackson and is about as good as is gonna get in these parts. My only concern is that it can lack consistency. I've had bomb, knock your socks off horchata, and really weird almost sour horchata that no one else seemed concerned about. Mostly it's really good, but when it's bad, it's pretty bad. Side note: to the people saying the tacos are small, that's how they are supposed to be. They are street style tacos on corn tortillas. read more
