We had Tou (the owner) give us a quote for a retaining wall in our backyard. The project expanded as we went along (drainage, river rock, extra concrete slab, etc.). Tou was flexible and informative throughout the project. His prices are reasonable and he discussed cost-saving options during the work. He's also very easy to get along with and fun to be around. All of Tou's guys are professional, polite, and capable. We talked to each of them at various points during our project. He runs a tight ship. He was punctual and checked in with his workers regularly. His guys cleaned up at the end of each day and worked consistently for every minute of every hour they were here. I have to say I feel very fortunate to have found Tou and Green Landscape. My first job with Tou was in 2004 a demo of an asphalt driveway and replace with cement. Great job, showed up on time, cleaned up and totally met our expectations. Second job about seven years ago was a retainer wall about 30" high and 60 ft in length. Also ran a new line if sprinklers for me on the newly landscaped hill. Came out really nice, clean job and completed quickly. Third job about 4 years ago was sidewalks around the house and a big patio. Demo the old patio and hauled off also. Great job! Today, fourth job consisting of cementing in a long planter. This job was to keep the rain and water away from the house. Now I have no more worries of water penetrating the walls. They also planted a palm tree for me while waiting for the cement to dry some. Another nice job, all cleaned up when complete. If you're doing landscaping, irrigation, blockwalls or cement Tou is the guy. Great crew everybody is committed to total customer satisfaction. I've previously worked with cheap contractors who churned out crappy work, some of which ended up costing me more money to fix up various mistakes in the long run; so this time, I was determined to prioritize quality over price. In terms of pricing for my project, similar to experiences shared by a few other reviewers, Tou wasn't the cheapest nor the most expensive bid; the reason I went with him was because upon meeting with him, I felt that he was kind, honest, experienced, and very knowledgeable. Tou was very professional from start to finish. He worked within my budget and offered different proposals to solve issues that arose both before and during the duration of the project. I especially appreciated his candor in pointing out the pros and cons of the various solutions, and validated some of my concerns so that there won't be any 'surprises' down the line. This really stood out from the other contractors I've worked with who falsely promised perfection and were quick to discount my concerns. Tou and his crew were always on time, and I was able to communicate perfectly fine with every single person on the team. We needed to repair a cracking block wall caused by growing ficus trees in my moms backyard. We did our job of getting 3 quotes and ended up going with the cheaper quote from an independent guy. Yep, we broke that rule, big mistake! I knew when I first met Tou I should have went with him. He was in the middle but still affordable. He had a good vibe from our initial meeting. Very honest, sincere and very professional. Gave me tips on what would work per code and with the city. Things I didn't consider. Could tell he knew his stuff. But at the end of the day, my mom wanted to save money. Turns out, the cheaper guy was exactly that, cheap!! Sloppy lines, dirty blocks that didn't match, gaps, the whole nine. It was to the point of no return, it had to be torn down and redone. So I called Tou to save the day and boy was that a blessing. We set a date and he delivered in a timely manner. So quick they made it look easy. He even provided block samples to show my mom the color for approval before starting the job at a later time. I admired that! Excellent! Last year my husband and I decided to completely redo our front yard. Since we live in a association maintaining the front yard was a constant task and a must. We came up with a low maintenance design and after approval from our association we hired Green Landscaping to do the job. I thought it would take 10 days at least it took 3 days! The crew of guys and equipment hit the ground running and to the tee they followed our design layout. The results are impressive and to this day our yard looks amazing! The amount we paid was extremely fair for the work they accomplished in 3 days. The quote we got was construction only and we bought the plants we wanted separate, which I preferred. I have used Tou and his crew on two separate occasions. Tou's say/do ration is exceptionally high! He takes his work serious and is prideful in doing great work. If your idea will not work well, he let's you know of other options that will work. He does work to code and sweats the details that most home owners may not understand. I hired Green Landscape to do a brick job for the front of my house. Tou did not do the work. His "uncle" did the work and did a shoddy job. Another one of his helpers had only been working with Tou for a month even though Tou told me his crew had been together for years (lie). I found this out because I speak Spanish. Bricks were not level and straight. They left a lot of cement residue on the brick. Overall they were lazy and cut corners where they could. The price was great but I got what I paid for.
