This kids store carries some standard children's brands that are higher end than what you would find in a Target or something. They also sell other child-related sundries like bath wash, some small toys, and so on. When we visited they had a couple sale racks on display, one with a straight 40% off and one that had colored dots on the clothes with prices according to the color. My friend and I both left with well over $100 of merchandise that would have been significantly more at higher prices. And I love everything I bought. I am hoping that a couple of the things that I got for my little one aren't just a tad too small because she would look so freakin adorable in them. I sent photos to my mom of everything to share the cuteness. Some of the things I bought are a couple sizes big so that my daughter can grown into them. This store is beautifully decorated and arranged, not at all cluttered and with lots of natural light flooding the place. Unlike a lot of children's stores, they left the floor pretty wide open with the merchandise largely along the outer walls to provide a lot of floor space because as you might guess, people with small children usually have strollers--but almost most children's store I've been to, particularly within Chicago, seem to forget that because they're so small or packed that it's a struggle to maneuver around them. The women who were in the shop were helpful but not overbearing. This store doesn't have any dedicated parking but there's a good amount along Third Street and also on State Street.

Double Blessings Resale is a twice-a-year event held in the Dupage County Fairgrounds exhibition…read morewarehouses. I call it a resale extravaganza. During the second weekend in March and the second weekend in September, up to five exhibition halls are filled with gently used children's clothing, toys and baby gear at very reasonable prices. I was able to get about 30 clothing items, 2 pairs of shoes and 2 toys for my little one for less than $100. All designer and brand name children's clothing and very good quality (barely used and well-kept). Some tips: Leave the kiddo's at home. They will not have fun. The exhibition halls get really hot and there is no place to sit. That being said, like any sale, get there early for the best selection. If you have to bring your baby, leave the stroller in the car and use your Baby Bjorn to carry Junior around. Mama needs TWO hands to shop! No really, they do not allow strollers in the exhibition halls. Bring your large shopping bag to help you carry your items when you shop. Better yet, bring a laundry basket, it's easier to carry all your items, go back to your car and empty items and then come back and shop in the next exhibition hall. Plan for time to browse. Don't think you will spend 10 minutes and be "In and Out". The cashier lines are long, but it's well-organized so it runs very smoothly. Cash or Check. (I honestly don't remember seeing a Credit Card sign) This is run by a Mom's group so they understand the importance of value and quality in children's merchandise. We came in shopped around, we were sticker shocked at some of these prices because we have seen better prices at a Burlington, and what not but wanted to give them a try. That being said, we did end up finding a few great deals after digging around. They have a $10 for 10 onesies area where we were able to find a bunch of newborn onesies in great condition. A lot of their toys, and walkers were super high priced for a resale and with missing pieces. The other thing is that we had little to no interaction with the staff, but the little interaction we did have they were actually very brunt and rather rude for no reason. I overheard a few conversations with others and they did get a bit snippy. Not sure we'll be back to this location, but if you're looking for a deal on gently used items, and have the time to dig around you're bound to find a few great things.

You sign up, pay a fee for price tags and drop off the goods. You can get a higher percentage of earnings if you volunteer to help or you can be a slug like me and get 65% of your sales by sitting at home and drinking a few beers the night of the sale. This organization is very particular about what merchandise they take (Thank God!). They only take name brands and no Target, Kmart or Walmart stuff. It all has to be in good shape and gets inspected when you drop off your goods. They take only children's clothes as well as baby gear. I was a little surprised when I found out the night before the sale that you needed an appointment to drop off your goods. I have to confess that I was a bit overwhelmed by the information packet I received and I must have skimmed through that section. You need to have the clothes on hangers and that presented a challenge since I had about 18 pairs of boys' shorts. One of the coordinators was more than happy to give me some hangers to use and for that I am grateful. I've participated in lots of these over the years. This was the most organized sale I've been in. Even the payment process was very efficient. At other sales it takes weeks to find out how your sales went (I always donate the non-sale items so I don't have to pick up) and then it took a few more weeks to get a check. Trendy Tots sent me an email a few days after the sale telling me the amount I sold and my cut of it and I just got the check in the mail! Check out their sale in the fall!
