    Chicago fire deep dish
    Cale S.

The Chicago fire deep dish pizza looked fantastic but the crust was a little bready. I like a dish pizzas with a little buttery/oily crunch on the outside. The jalapeños are pretty hot so beware. The menu description says caramelized onions, but I have been eating raw crunchy onions. Confusing. Tip: i air fried my leftover pizza and I felt like it better resembled a deep dish pizza. Try it out!

Since I have to get my own water and place my order at the counter that lowering my normal 18 to 20 % to 15 seems reasonable. Note they put on a credit card service charge of 3 % so you are back to paying 18% over menu price anyway. Sunday brunch , so get there early. Mocha $5.50. Good flavor but seemed like the chocolate was not fully desolved. Croque Madame $19 with salad. Very well made sandwich with a nice presentation on the salad. Avocado toast $15 always very good and she always get it Raspberry danish hot latte $8. Very good not too sweet. Two brunch specials $19 each. Was very good Service was good. It sounds like most of their stuff is sourced locally and they even have a nice little shop where they sell local crafts and farm goods like milk and honey. We ended up getting the avocado toast and the breakfast sandwich special. Both were great, well seasoned and delicious. For service you go up to the counter and order and they bring you your food when it's ready. I like the concept but with a bigger group we ended up having alot of confusion over the bill. We eventually got it straightened out but if I were to do it again I'd just close out the individuals I was paying for immediately after ordering, not wait till the end and have the whole table split up. All in all a great restaurant. We'll definitely be back at some point to try the other options on the menu!

I highly recommend the Original Bagel Sandwich--an everything bagel with bacon, American cheese, and a fried egg--paired with Oliver's hash. The hash has outstanding flavor and is truly a standout. Another favorite is the Scrambler (scrambled eggs with bacon, scallions, mushrooms, peppers, aged cheddar, and Oliver's hash underneath). Again, the flavor is excellent. If you enjoy a little kick, be sure to ask for their homemade hot sauce--it's terrific. I believe the ketchup is made in-house as well, although it's not quite to my taste. My one consistent disappointment with breakfast is that the menu never changes. They don't seem to offer specials, and I would really love to see new items introduced--whether occasionally or seasonally. Adding some variety would make an already great experience even better. I've considered going for lunch, but the current menu doesn't quite draw me in. I tend to go to specialty places for pizza or tacos, and while I'm sure the soup is very good, I can't justify $17 for a bowl. There are burgers and sandwiches as well, but nothing that really stands out to me. Again, introducing lunch specials or rotating items would make a big difference and likely bring me in more often. The atmosphere is excellent--comfortable, inviting, and full of charming little nooks and crannies, along with bar seating. If having a booth is important to you, I recommend making a reservation.

The brisket was ok. The meal came with an abundance of things we didn't want. Like a giant caramel roll was the first thing they brought to the table. We didn't want that. Then there was a massive side of bacon, sausage & au gratin potatoes. Those sides did not go well with either of the entrees e selected. Kind of a waste to be honest. It wasn't very busy but service was slow. Idk if I will be back after this. The regular menu would have been better.

We came for an anniversary dinner and chose to be seated at the bar that overlooked the kitchen. I know I've said before, but I love this look into the kitchen, watching everything being cooked, seeing all the orders, it's just so fun. We started with cocktails and the Silesian dumplings. Both were excellent. Hubs got the duck two ways and I got the duck burger for our meals. I told him we couldn't go to a place that specializes in duck and not get duck. Both dishes were perfect. The duck confit sauce was delicious and the burger was out of this world. We couldn't turn down a couple of paczeks for dessert too. Service was great and sitting next to the kitchen, got to talk to some of the cooks as well. Overall, great experience at Black Duck.

The exterior is a little unassuming with the patio kind of looks like a family style restaurant but inside it's upscale dark and gold modern chic. THE FOOD Pierogis - 5/5 so pillowy Doused in a butter sauce, delicious potato goodness. A little steep for $19 for 4 pieces, but definitely a highlight of the night. Silesian pierogis - 5/5 the Parmesan leek sauce was a great compliment to the almost mochi, textured potato dumplings. Definitely different than the normal pierogies, but in my opinion, the sauce really stood out for this dish and was well balanced with the pickled cabbage. Pork dish 4/5 - the pork was cooked PERFECTLY, nice char on the outside with a juicy inside, not dry by any means. The sauerkraut plus the mustard sauce was a perfect bite. However, I do feel the mustard sauce is quite overpowering at times so if you don't like mustard do not get this. It does look like a large portion, but I did eat all of it with a little bit of help. I do wish there was some sort of starch on the plate, but better portioning the most pork chops restaurants that I have had. Flat iron steak 3/5 - I was most looking forward to this one after seeing it on Instagram however, the dish somewhat fell short for $40. The steak was cooked beautifully, and the potato pavee was exciting since this is quite rare where to find in the Twin Cities restaurant scene. There was not much sauce on this dish. The small bit of sauce provided, being quite buttery and did not add much to the flavor. The potato pavees were very crispy and a nice inside texture but for me a little bit oversalted, but there was just nowhere to go in the dish for sauce/punchy flavor. I wish there was an aioli/chimichurri to go with the potato pavee and some other type of seasoning like a Mexican seasoning on the potatoes. It's seems the entrees were not very vegetable forward however I feel like for $40 the pork and the steak could have used maybe a few pieces of brussels sprouts or asparagus to balance out their richness. Overall, a very lovely experience. I feel like anything on their menu is worth a try. The waitress mentioned that they do have rotating seasonal items. You won't be disappointed!

The pretzel had the perfect amount of salt, and was big enough to feed 3 people. Didn't care for the beer mustard sauce. I didn't taste any beer flavors... all pungent ground brown mustard. The Cheesy Jalapeno sauce was nice, not too hot/ spicy. And you can't go wrong with a trio sampler. My favorite on this plate was the bang bang shrimp.
