This was just a quick lunch stop for me after driving all day. I went with a simple spaghetti and meatballs with a side salad. The entree was fine. The meatballs were good and Green Mill's marinara is always consistent: zippy and tasty. However the side salad may have been the freshest salad I ever had. Goofy, I know, but the cucumbers were firm and had a great snap to them and the greens were - green. I know that seems stupid, but too many places try to stretch their veggies and there can be specks of brown. Not here. Attention was paid to the details. The bartender was my server and she kept my club soda full and was pleasant and attentive. This will stay a spot on my travels and I will give an entree salad a chance! read more

They use to have great drinks, appetizer's and pizza. Don't know if they have new management or what. Raspberry margarita did not have any flavor. Ordered Ellsworth cheese curds and they looked like something that came frozen from a grocery store. They had breading like the ones you buy in a grocery store. Size ranged from the size of a popcorn kernel to the size of a pea. Wish I would have taken a photo of this. Totally disgusting!! Ordered pizza with green olives and green peppers on half only and must have forgot the green peppers because they were two inch pieces lying on top. The Chicago fire deep dish pizza looked fantastic but the crust was a little bready. I like a dish pizzas with a little buttery/oily crunch on the outside. The jalapeños are pretty hot so beware. My wife and I sat at the bar. Walked in, immediately addressed, had drinks inside 60 seconds. Food inside 12 minutes. Had the sweet heat tacos, and the coconut chicken fingers. My family and I just had dinner here tonight and ordered apps, taps, and deep dish pizzas that should have been on happy hour and half off pizzas. The waitress was friendly and she checked on us often. But, we were 3/4 of the way through our bruschetta and I got a thick, long, and coarse black hair that was intertwined within my bite. It was so thick that as I pulled it out of my mouth and the food it was tangled in, it didn't break. I had it on a napkin and asked the waitress over. I explained what the situation was and showed her. I tried to keep it discreet and polite, as I understand accidents can happen. She assured me it would be taken care of. When we received the bill they only took off $5, and that included the $2 off happy hour discount they forgot to remove, so in reality we were comped $3! I am very disappointed in the lack of action taken to address this issue. After this experience I can't recommend them to anyone. We bought two medium $20 pizzas at the Shoreview Green Mill last night. The pepperoni pizza had only six pieces of pepperoni. A $6 frozen pizza from Cub has much more. The other pizza was supposed to be spinach & garlic, sausage, and anchovies. Very little spinach or sausage was visible and I managed to find only one anchovie. Both pizzas had very little sauce and cheese and little to no flavor. A complete waste of $40. I rate this as one star because zero is not an option. read more

My wife wanted pizza, and while I usually call Davanni's she wanted to try something else. Ok, A personal pizza and a medium pizza. One with pepperoni, green pepper and mushrooms. One with sausage and green olive. Davanni's $18+ / Green Mill $33+. The pepperoni one had no mushrooms but the sausage one did. Almost to be expected, I guess. This was our first time in a long time coming here. We had a coupon so thought why not try it. It's connected to a hotel so there are lots of business people and families here. The menu is big but we decided to get the deep dish pizza since that's what they are known for. The pizza was fine not the best deep dish I have had and it was made wrong. Our waitress was not attentive (had to ask for water multiple times even though our glasses we visibly empty) so we never got to say that our pizza was made incorrectly. We love this place! We had Maddie for a server for the 2nd time today. She is truly an outstanding customer service person! Goes out of her way to make your dining experience wonderful. I spoke to the manager last night and she was friendly and professional. Now for the food and cocktails. I typically will order a martini that is not on the menu. Maddie always says no problem, they will make whatever you order. If I ask what she thinks they may charge for that drink, she comes back right away with an answer. (Their martini's are amazing). Dismal customer service. They took our phone order, when we arrive to pick up our pizza, they had changed it from thin crust to deep dish. We received an email offer and chose to call our order in and when we paid for the order we discovered an additional take out service fee. We asked the manager and she said it is a new 3% fee added to every bill inside or takeout. Corporate should get the message customers are not happy with hidden fees that are not mentioned anywhere until paying. Boycott Greenmill and send this message loud and clear do not add fees unless you mention them on the menu or tell to go orders they are added. No where did it say anything about a 3% service fee. They should have just increased the prices by 3% and not hide this fee. We are asking all our friends and family along with business colleagues to avoid Greenmill as a direct result of this new hidden service fee policy. Less customers should tell corporate that it wa not a good move to add this to all bills. read more

The Roseville MN Green Mill is closed now so, for Valentine's Day we went to the Green Mill in Shoreview MN on 02/13/25. WHAT a mistake!! I found multiple hairs in one single bite of my deep dish pizza on my 2nd slice and had to return it AND was not even offered a new pizza or free dinner! After avoiding our table to many minutes, waitress just took the price of the pizza off the bill, again did not offer to make me a new pizza (although I would have declined due to fear of retaliation from the kitchen! **AND my husband, who simply had the Millhouse sandwich was up all night with the worst food poisoning he's ever had. ***What once was a very cool, supper yummy restaurant with friendly caring wait staff is now an ordinary hole in the wall restaurant that does not care about their customers and clearly hires a staff that does not care about the food they are preparing or the patrons. I arrived in town the other day to stay at the BestWestern. To my pleasant surprise, a Green Mill was directly attached to the hotel. On the first night I checked in and they gave me a 2 for 1 drink card to try at Green Mill. It wasn't too must next door. I pulled up a stool and had a drink in hand within minutes. It was well done. The staff was some of the only people around that night and they were as cheery as any working late on the weekend. They switched the monitor to the game for me and started asking friendly questions about where I was from. I was happy to oblige the small talk. Especially as my second drink that was free was soon after. We all commiserated about the extreme cold outside and appreciated we weren't in it. I popped in the next 2 nights at the end of the evening when arriving back at the hotel. Each time to friendly people and a quick drink. The GM by my house closed down, so the Shoreview location is my new one. Definitely worth the drive, they have a wide menu that can serve pretty much everyone. I have noticed that they seem to have a lot of turnover, so service can be a hit or a miss unfortunately; some give excellent service and some forget your order and it gets made wrong because they'd rather not ask again. Their Old World pizza is the best in the state, no other like it, so I highly recommend! A lot of their pastas are great too. I just wish they would add a special request option for delivery through merchants like Doordash for people with allergies like me. Also, peculiar order today, the complimentary bread was spicy? And I think they used the desert fire sauce for the Langostino and Shrimp pasta because it was also spicy. Stayed at the Best western hotel with this restaurant attached. Decided to order dinner after a long day on the road. Tried the Millhouse Club and the Coconut Chicken Salad. The Club sandwich was ok but the fries were soggy and cold. Salad was good, portion size of greens above average. The initial staff member I encountered was very receptive and pleasant, providing a menu and direct number for take away order. When I went to pick the food up was met by an immature young lady who answered with ya and no, no conversation skills. Get back to my room and see no silverware sent with food so I walk back. Visited on a weekday evening after a work meeting at the connected Best Western Hotel. If you stick with the happy hour drink specials, you will get a decent deal. Had the house merlot, and it was not bad for a $4 glass of wine. One of my dining partner's was charged $9 for a Baileys' on the rocks, and was not very pleased with the cost of the small glass of Irish cream. They easily seated our large party, so that was a plus. Now for the bad news. I ordered the deep dish pepperoni pizza and it might be some of the worst pizza I've ordered in a restaurant- ever. The outer edge of the crust was burnt and the bottom of the crust was doughy. The sauce was marginally flavorless and the crust was nearly inedible. Our server was attentive, so we appreciated that, and many of my dining partner's enjoyed their meals. Unfortunately, the deep dish pepperoni pizza I ordered was not enjoyable. The location is also attached to a hotel which I'm not really a fan of, but ample parking is a plus. I staying at the Hilton for over a week for work and so had multiple visits to the Green Mill, which is just across the parking lot. Without a car there aren't too many options to dine out but this place is great for just the convenience factor. Overall the servers and bartenders were great--the main dining room waitress on our first night was somewhat inattentive but the servers who took care of the patio and bar areas were consistently great. They have all kinds of options for food, from your more traditional bar food to pizza and pasta to sandwiches to entrees. Overall the food was pretty tasty--the grilled walleye stands out and flatbread pizza was good, too. The others were fine--the deep dish pizza, that I was very excited about, was good but unremarkable, their thing crust personal pizza was fine, the steak was cooked well but could use a bit more seasoning. They also have plenty of beers on tap and nightly drink specials for $3-4 each that includes things like Beam and Coke, Long Island Iced Tea, etc. In addition to a regular happy hour they have a second happy hour that starts at 9:00pm. The dining space inside is pretty big but basic. The patio is nice, covered, and even has heat lamps to keep you warm, but when the rain started falling there was no way to keep dry unless they dropped their plastic shields, which they didn't. The bar area has plenty of TVs with noise levels above average but that's too be expected. Overall it's great option if you're at the Hilton, which doesn't offer dinner service on Friday or Saturday nights, but if you have a car there are plenty of options nearby though not walking distance. read more

Service was okay, but it seemed like our server had too many tables. She was nice enough, it was just hard to get refills and our food. I think we must have waited about 45 minutes or so for our food. Two salads, a sandwich a burger and a kids pizza. Not the biggest deal, but it just seemed kind of odd for it to take that long for what we ordered. Had it been a deep dish pizza and so e other big dishes, okay, but it seemed like awhile. They have remodeled this place. It looks nicer and it seems as though the new outdoor patio would be nice n the summer. Food was okay. Now come one, they charge for extra dressings. One comes with the salad, but if you order blue cheese and French, you have to pay for one. Is 75 cents going to break me, absolutely not, but what is next. charging for the ketchup, mustard, and salt an pepper. Big mistake. Have never been in a restaurant and been disrespected more. We called the restaurant to let them know we had a retirement party for a coworker. We alerted to approximately 20-40 people. They accommodated us with two tables and from there disrespected the group to the point where one customer broke down in tears! Upon talking to the manager a server came up and said do not listen to the customer. When questioned "are you a manager" was told no I'm just a server, the manager took no responsibility. We had a party of 7 for the Easter Brunch today. We had a reservation for 1:00 but had to wait nearly 25 minutes to be seated. The meal was buffet style and I honestly could not find one food item that looked good. Choices consisted of watery scrambled eggs, soggy French toast, Parmesan chicken, a couple of lettuce salads that were soggy, biscuits that were cold, and prime rib which was very fatty and tough. I had the parmigiana chicken, Caesar salad that was soggy and a biscuit that I only took a bite of. The chicken was cold and tough. There was a small table of desserts that were okay. Cold coffee was served after the meal. I didn't want to embarrass our family member who had arranged the gathering or I would have asked to speak to the manager. A special fondness for this location and hotel as it was where we celebrated my groom's dinner and wedding. They recently revamped the whole place and it looks great. The outdoor patio is HUGE with a great big fireplace, comfy seating, and TVs. Beautiful space that I am sure will use once it gets nicer outside. The food is always dependable. Classic Americana for the most part, where they excel the best I think is in their pizzas, pastas, and wings but my wife ordered a salad and it was big and looked tasty. Went there for dinner 4/1/17. Ordered the shrimp salad and the wild mushroom and chicken Campanella. The shrimp taste like it was just defrosted (still watery) the salsa and the cream base dressing was not a good match. It wasn't wild mushroom, it was the regular white button that you could find at most grocery store. The sauce has a little heat, which was good. The chicken was dry. I used to go to this Green Mill all the time when it was good (15 years ago). Within the last 5 years or so it has gone down hill. Back in the day they had a rockin' blackened catfish, but that has since swam away from the Green Mill. Now I think the food is poorly made and over priced for the quality. The service is still good however and the atmosphere hasn't changed much. Those are the only real attractors for me. Sorry Green Mill, you were better in the good ol' days. read more
