Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday with my sister and two nieces, and it was actually my first time ever visiting a Carbone's! The staff was super prompt, friendly, and really set a great, welcoming vibe for our meal. Even though they're famous for pizza, I ended up ordering the French Dip, and it was so well done! The au jus was spot-on--flavorful without being overly salty--and the hoagie roll was soft without being soggy or overly crispy. The melted mozzarella cheese on top tied it all together perfectly. Although my sandwich came with fries, we also ordered a basket of fries and onion rings for the table to share, which everyone completely devoured. Side note: while we were there, they were actually in the middle of swapping out two of their TV screens for massive 75" TVs!! so for anyone who hasn't been in in a while, you're definitely in for a treat for sports watching! Haven't been here in awhile since we usually don't go over to this area very often and forget that Carbone's is nearby. It was as nice day out for patio seating that they had open. We sat inside with kids. The Ruben sandwich was good, it had the right amount of meat and sauerkraut on the marble rye bread and I think I like it better with thousand Island sauce than their Mac sauce. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside just the way I like my fries to be. The onion rings were great not soggy but crispy and the onion is fully cooked. Probably over of the best onions I've had in a long time. My daughter's friend liked her grilled cheese from the kids menu and my daughter enjoyed her kids cheese pizza. The Ceasar salad that came with my meal was fresh and not a lot of croutons which is good. The romaine lettuce was fresh and not a lot of bad lettuce pieces. The Ceasar dressing was good. read more

I've had Carbone's pizza before but I had never actually gone to the restaurant to eat before tonight. I got some of the $3 slices of pizza for Happy Hour and my friend tried the buffalo wings. The pizza wasn't extraordinary, it was perfectly ordinary in the best way and my friend really liked the buffalo wings. The french fries are quite good and the cheese curds remind me of the ones from Dairy Queen with a nice amount of cheese on the inside. My friend tried the chopped salad and it was quite large but very yummy as well. I also loved their ranch! Our server was kind and we were able to sit on the patio and watch the world cup. Family friendly pizza, Italian, and American restaurant with a bar area, live music, and family dining area. Super friendly staff and good food. We started with the Italian toasted cheese bread, I also got a mango habanero cider, so good. And two of us at the table ordered their broasted chicken which is like a baked/roasted/broiled chicken which takes about 20 minutes. I couldn't choose between white or dark meat so they recommended I got 4 pieces to try and have leftovers. I also got the salad and with mashed potatoes and I think turkey gravy. My sister in law got a turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes. My brother got the tri tip burger and my sister in law's dad got another burger too. It was comfy and cozy and a great place for a meal. Management and bartenders! Went in for a retirement party, we were told we could sit out on the patio, as long as people were sitting down and eating. When we got there we were told no. They tried to get us inside and they said it all had to be on one tab. So very silly. We sat outside, they served food and drinks to about 30 people. Can you say making money? The inside bartenders refused to let people order drinks from the bar, to be paid for on the spot, and told they couldn't serve people in our party. Our first visit to this Carbone's (we've been patrons of the original in Highland Park for decades) was off to a great start thanks to a genuinely warm welcome by a smiling staff member. We were seated at a table adjacent to the bar which enabled us to watch the Vikings game on any of numerous TVs surrounding the area. We reviewed the regular menu plus the temporary addition that included a handful of Oktoberfest specials...a nice effort comprised primarily of German-style sandwiches. We went the BBQ pizza ("Hungry Adult" size) and a "Carbone Chopped" salad both of which arrived in exactly 15 minutes. In a capsule the BBQ pizza was tasty however priced at $17.50, it was hardly a value that would generate a return visit anytime soon. As for the salad, (priced at $14.50), my dining partner ended up avoiding the chicken as it tasted well past fresh. Too bad. You'll find the dining area and restrooms to be clean and the staff to be very friendly and attentive. The BBQ pizza was good and the seasonal outdoor dining area was well done. Unfortunately, ere both good but that pizza selection was definitely not a value during these escalated restaurant dining price times. Don't order for delivery, they can't seem to get this fundamental service right, even though they offer it. This is the 2nd time we were told that delivery would be 'about 45mins'. One and one-half hours later I called, and was told it was out for delivery: 30 minutes after that I had to call and tell them to forget it 2 of my guests had already died of starvation. I am sorry to say I am disappointed with the service at the Minneapolis Location. Recently I ordered a pasta dish with a salad and my finger did a skip and I accidentally ordered another. Okay. I accept that. I did not have an additional salad ordered, though. When my son went to pick the order up however, the person he spoke with said no salad was ordered. He was indicating the second order. The first clearly said house salad with ranch dressing because I printed out what I ordered. My son really wanted that salad so I ordered another one. $9?? for that. But, Carbone's had closed, and they kept the money. I am owed two salads at the least. Best pizza around ! We were visiting from NYC/NJ and this place is up there with the NY pizza taste. The staff were very for friendly, the place is a casual cool spot. For being a bar restaurant style it wasn't loud at all. The pepperoni on the pie was beneath all that good cheese. We came here tonight with the kids and friends after a day at the pool. It's my first time at this MN chain but I had heard from folks who had memories of eating Carbone's pizza as kids and the salty goodness of their thin crust pizza. My first impression was that of your typical chain. They have a large bar area and a lot of craft beer on tap. We got seated after a minor wait and got to business. We ordered drink from the bar and got pasta, pizza and a quesadilla as our main items for the night. Service was slow, really slow and seemed inattentive at times. The pasta and meatball were good, the quesadilla interesting (couldn't believe one of our party actually ordered it) and the combo pizza was good. It's priced higher than some chains and isn't going to win awards for food but is a solid option in cedar ave area. We would come back next time with no kids. read more

We visited the Minneapolis/Nokomis location on a busy Wednesday night right after the Twins game. It was quite busy, but we were able to get a table for 6 within minutes. The food was good, a variety of sandwiches and Calzone were ordered along with a few beers and onion rings. I came on here to really review the service. Our server (Olivia was on the receipt) was fantastic! She was so friendly, accommodating (fixed our wobbly table) and on top of everything from keeping our drinks full to clearing plates. Been going to the Carbone's on cedar Avenue for 10 plus years. Ordered a two-piece white chicken with potato wedges and a two piece dark with fries. Some of the potato wedges weren't fully cooked. When you get into the bigger pieces of chicken there was a gap between the skin and the chicken where it was like raw flour. Management said that's how you cook chicken. It was basically inedible. Although the food is pretty basic, the customer service is always great! They never disappoint.

I like thin, cracker crust pizza. It's a thing I've learned non-Minnesotans fail to understand....NO, it's not a literal cracker, it's a yeasty pizza crust, rolled thin, slathered in rich sauce and incredibly generous amounts of mozzerella that melts to form a good, level quarter inch while the crust manages to be full of airy bubbles which make for a crisp yet slightly chewy crust like none other. It's fantastic, and Minnesotans who never leave their lake-laden flat land don't realize this is a regional thing you won't find anywhere else, need to go down and get one more regularly instead of just ordering from chains like Dominoes and Papa John's. With Pizza Shack gone and Dulono's original location no more, Carbone's is one of the last to offer the Midwestern style cracker crust pizza. Another thing Minnesotan pizza eaters don't realize is you can't order green olives on a pizza west of the Rockies. Not happening. They look at you like you just asked for a plate of raw liver. I understand that many places are struggling during this time but that is no excuse for not providing good service. I placed an order to be delivered through Uber Eats and two of the three items ordered/delivered were incorrect. I ordered the Italian Nachos (delivered correctly and as good as always). I ordered a Meatloaf Sandwich and got Roast Beef. A friend ordered Fish and Chips and got Shrimp and Fries. I am not a fan of roast beef and the person that ordered the fish has a shellfish allergy. If a restaurant is out of something, that's understandable but a phone call is appropriate before automatically replacing anything. This is totally unacceptable and will keep me from ever going to or ordering from them again, which is sad because I am one to support neighborhood businesses and more and more are closing. read more

Although it's been over a year now, the remodeled location deserves some respect. They did a nice job on the patio, created a spacious interior and added a full bar! It's not just pizza either, the menu is extensive. I can't speak for everything but the calzones, broasted chicken, philly sandwich and of course the pizza is great. Beer list is decent too, I'm not sure how often they rotate but there were plenty of local options and and other popular choices available on draft. It's a popular place in the neighborhood and definitely gets busy. I think there are a few games for kids and they are more than family friendly. Depending on the time there are probably going to be kids everywhere with limited parental supervision. The 3 of us have been going to Carbones for years and it has always been very good, we loved their broasted chicken. This last time something was way off!! It tasted blah, was not crispy like it should be, and all 3 of us ended up getting sick the next day!! So we came back the next day and my friend went in and talked to the manager, and that was a total waste of time. Carbones obviously does not care about how their customers are treated. This managerwas young and in experienced and not at all concerned about the customer& said everything is cooked the same way all the time, he basically called my friend a liar, instead of listening to our concerns. We have been good customers for years, well not any more. I really like the pizza at Carbone's. I learned from two foodies in my Uber (I'm a driver) that it is "authentic Minnesota Style pizza" (I didn't know that's a thing!) For those of you who are like me and didn't know Minnesota had a genre of pizza named after our home state, Minnesota Style pizza is wafer thin, crispy crust pizza, lots of sauce and cut into squares. Some Carbone's locations offer a lunch special which is one heck of a deal! This location near Minnehaha parkway didn't, but they DID allow me to order a 7" kids pizza! Veej and the wife have been coming to Carbone's ever since we moved into the neighborhood. Imho they have one of the best pizzas in the Twin Cities. Their hoagies are also diabolically awesome. My wife and I had a Crowd cut coupon for $20 here. As we entered, it is kind of like a strip mall pizzeria with not much to it. I ordered the $6.50 lunch special with hamburger as my topping with a side salad. The side salad was really good, I blame the awesome blue cheese. The pizzas are not that large, but it actually was perfect size for lunch. 7". The sauce was fantastic, some bites more basil like than others, but it was a solid sauce, would be a good spaghetti sauce. My wife got a shrimp pizza with no cheese and liked the sauce as well. The only complaint is the crust, it seems like it tastes like a frozen pizza crust. Not bad, just not good. Our service was fantastic, she refilled our sodas whenever they were empty. She always had a smile on her face. It was funny, the guy manning the checkout counter had a rough night and went into the dining room when no one was there and fell asleep multiple times at the table. He was in rough shape. I've been to Carbone's in Farmington MN and the pizza so reminded me of upstate NY where I'm from but here, the tortellini Alfredo - you can tell the veggies were frozen and the cheese sauce was made from a can. I'm not even being tough on them. It's a great looking restaurant and bar. Right next to the golf course. The tenders are gorgeous and are good but the tortellini was -1 and disappointing to the point where I had to tell them. The antipasto was good but not fully Italian.
