Went to Green Papaya for lunch today and had a potential major food allergy emergency. The lunch special is a fantastic deal! Got a bowl of the vegetable soup and the bento box which included 5 pieces of sashimi, salad, fried spring roll, two orange slices, and vegetable pad thai. All of this for under $11.. it was fantastic! I would've given this place 5 stars if it weren't for a food allergy issue. I very clearly told the server that I was allergic to red shellfish, anaphylaxis. I chose something off the menu that had no red shellfish in it but I always have to tell the restaurant in case of cross contamination. When the bento box came out, there was shrimp with the sashimi even though it was not listed in the menu. Cross contamination is why I stopped going to the Green Papaya in Hyde Park. We found shrimp fragments in the chicken pad thai after telling them that I had a severe shellfish allergy. I pointed the shrimp out today and they quickly fixed it but not thrilled that I had a similar issue of carelessness when it comes to food allergies. I think lunch was a great deal and everything was delicious but if you have a food allergy, stay away or triple check your food. I was very weary of if they had just taken the shrimp off or if they had redone the sashimi since it was touching the shrimp (yes, I'm that allergic). I'm from Thailand, so I know what real Thai foods taste liked! Green Papaya is a real authentic as taste of Thai foods in Thailand's resturant! This place is awesome, so many variety of food in menu, that you can choose from....Chef Khun Sak, and his lovely wife are Thai, so they are cooking in the kitchen, prepared the foods for customers, unlike many Thai restuarant that have Chinese, Mexican are cooking in the kitchen! If you know what I meant? All of the server is delightful, helpful, their knowledge for all the dishes in menu. Loev Love Love this place! Everyone is always super friendly and the menu has a ton of options! My favorite time to go is lunch, they have an awesome specials menu that is the perfect price for my wallet! A few times I have asked for a substitution and, even though the menu said "no substitutions", they let me do it which made me so happy. You have to try the lunch specials. Full bento boxes or lunch portions make Green Papaya very approachable. Pretty good sushi for a thai place. Hyde Park and Mariemont are great places for a restaurant. Only been to this location twice now. They seem very similar if only the atmosphere isn't exactly the same. I'd call Hyde Park more formal? I usually order thai dishes with seafood or veggies. If you order anything with extra vegetables here, you will just get a mountain of vegetables. Most asian places don't necessarily serve you enough but Green Papaya is definitely making up for what everyone else is not giving you. Correct proportions with the rice or noodles is the sacrifice but eh whatever. You have been warned. I sampled from the plates of many friends and everything I've tried was yummy. I love this place! Wonderful food and the staff are so friendly/lovely. I absolutely love the curry. My daughter loves the green papaya roll and Sata roll. The summer rolls are off the hook good. TL, DR The food and service were great. I got the lunch box with sashimi which came with 5 pieces of fish, Vegetable pad thai, salad with ginger dressing, and a spring roll. Each of which was delicious and a perfect portion. I got a jasmine tea which was also very delicious and they do not just give you tea bags, i love that! This means a full fresh cup every refill! My first time here. I am fairly new to sushi, and was in search of someplace good. I was greeted energetically by a gentleman and seated. Was not given much time to look over menu, but I had looked at it online. I ordered a bento box lunch with fried rice (maybe the best I've ever had), 6 pieces of California roll and 3 pieces white tuna roll. This was Bento Box #6 on the menu. The tuna roll was the better of the two, but I enjoyed both. The miso soup was very good but other reviews mention tofu in it which I did not get. The salad and dressing were good, but my favorite thing was the spring roll and some kind of dipping sauce, that if they sold it by the bottle, i would always have on hand at home it was that good. I will definitely go back. The service was awesome. That gentleman constantly smiled and walked around making sure everyone was happy. The only downfall, was charging $2 for a can of coke with no refills, when I can get a 20oz. bottle for $1.79 at the store. read more

Green Papaya's pad thai and mango curry are quite good. However, last night, I ordered their house salad, shrimp rolls and massaman curry with mixed seafood as take-out. The salad was much too sweet and too spicy (level one). The shrimp rolls were tasteless and the accompying sauce did not improve matters. The massaman curry was also too sweet and had a strange flavor. The mix of seafood in the curry included 1 sea scallop sliced in half, 3 small overcooked shrimp and 3 rubbery sea urchins. On a Sunday, I just purchased the Green Papaya soup for Carryout. The soup base was delicate tasting. It had a nice coconut and lime flavor. I think that the soup was well balanced in taste. I've gone back, more than a few times for carryout and I do love their curry very much! I like the soup a whole bunch and will order it again. read more

If the pad thai and traditional Thai food were on its own this restaurant wouldn't get that great of a review. BUT, best coconut lime soup I've ever had, fabulous tempura sushi and the side appetizers put most other Thai food to shame. I came here for lunch around 2pm looking for a quick and healthy experience and was not disappointed! I ordered the Kuhn lunch box for $10.95 and it came with soup, spring roll, orange slices, and 2 entree selections. I had the Spicy Thai Sauce and Pad Thai Curry made spicy! Both of these selection were very impressive, but the curry was one of the best I have had around the Cincy area. The food was fresh and hot and served within a couple of minutes. Quite a lot of food, too! I Highly recommend Green Papaya if you are looking for a quick work lunch with healthier options. read more

I have been a big fan of this place since it opened in Mariemont. There were times when I ate there twice a week. My last visit was on Tuesday. My boyfriend and I had lunch there. He had their lunch box special and I ordered their beef noodle soup, very similar to Pho. When the bill came, they charged me $18.95 for a bowl of beef broth, noodles, and meatballs. When I brought this to our servers attention that I was mistakenly overcharged, she said, "No, that's the correct price." This explains why it wasn't on the menu. I will not eat there again. I can get better soup at Pho Lang Thang for half the price. read more

This place it's awful.. We were in the area craving pho and found this place... I couldn't tell what meat was used( If I was not in America I could assure it was not meat we normally eat here).. My partners pho noodles were soggy and it didn't have that special pho flavors... More like it it was just cooked with Goya chicken cubes... She couldn't eat it.. And complained to the waitress .. She tried to explain that rice noodles aren't like that.. Which they're not because we had it many other times.. After the "explanation" from the waitress.. She try to eat it again.. To the biggest surprise it was cold inside.. That was enough and we sent it back.. We ended up eating my cold fried rice( with strange meats, I hope not to get sick)... And at the end they tried to charge us with both meals.. Complete disappointment.. They humiliated us by saying people like us come to restaurant to eat for free.. We'll never come back...
